UNPACKING
Let's start by unpacking. It was this smart that came from Aliexpress. But you can buy it not only on Ali, but also in individual online stores in China. By the way, you will find links to normal sellers in the final part of the review.
We open the parcel and take out just such a compact box from thick cardboard. The bottom of the box contains information about the phone, including its main technical characteristics.
We immediately see an adapter for euro sockets. As a bonus, a standard Chinese present in the form of a cheap silicone case. I don’t like such galoshes, but they don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. There is one more bonus - a protective film on the screen.
We open the box. The standard delivery set of the InFocus M2 includes such a white 1 Ampere charger. The charger box is small and neat and resembles iPhone chargers. The USB cable is also white. This is not clear to me - why should a black smartphone (and in our case it is black) be equipped with white accessories?
The headset is not included in the package. But there is such a user manual with illustrations, but it's all in Chinese. But it doesn't matter - you might think that nowadays someone is reading instructions for Android smartphones.
And here is the telephone itself. The screen has a factory shipping film. The battery is already inside, but it cannot be otherwise, since it is not removable in this model.
BUILD QUALITY
The InFocus M2 isn't made in Uncle Liao's basement, but at FoxConn, where the legendary iPhones and iPads are assembled next door. Therefore, we have every right to expect excellent quality materials and workmanship. And these expectations are fully justified. The body is made of good sturdy plastic. The build quality is close to ideal: nothing crunches or looseness anywhere. Smart, despite its compact size, is very weighty and I like it.
APPEARANCE
The only thing that can be blamed for the design of the InFocus M2 is the large bezels under and above the display, which are as much as 2 cm wide.But if the width of the upper part can somehow be justified by the placement of a speaker, a front camera with flash, sensors and an event indicator why the frame under the screen is so wide is absolutely not clear. After all, there are not even touch buttons here, because they are on-screen. But they gave the name of the smartphone.
But I cannot find fault with the ergonomics of the case. Due to the rounded shape of the back cover and the relatively compact size of the case itself, we get classy ergonomics. The phone fits perfectly in the hand, as they say - it lies like a glove.
The back cover itself has an interesting matte texture, somewhat reminiscent of carbon. Looks cool, fingerprints are almost invisible, does not slip in the hand. By the way, there is also a white version of the InFocus M2.
On the "back" of the smartphone there is a main camera with a flash above it. Manufacturer's logo in red and a hole for the main speaker.
On the top there is an audio jack and an additional microphone. On the lower edge we have a microUSB connector and a spoken microphone hole. On the right side, there is a power and lock button. The volume control rocker is nestled on the left side.
WHAT'S UNDER THE COVER
Let's take off the cover right away and see what's underneath. As already mentioned, the battery is not removable here, so you shouldn't try to pull it out of its familiar place. The battery capacity is 2010 mAh, which can be considered the standard for the budget segment of Android smartphones. Such a battery allows the smartphone to live all day without an outlet at medium loads. In dialer mode, it will live for a couple of days.
But the battery life also depends on the optimization of the firmware. For example, on native firmware, the smart does not show the best autonomy. But we'll come back to the firmware.
On the left side of the battery there are slots for two SIM-cards. Both slots are designed for micro-SIM format. Here we also have a slot for memory cards. Smart recognized my 32 GB card without problems. But judging by user reviews, it is possible to use 64-gig cards. However, I did not check it, tk. I don’t have such a card.
DISPLAY
The InFocus M2 screen is, without options, one of the main trump cards of this unit. Its diagonal is not quite standard and is equal to 4.2 inches. And here we get an HD resolution of 1280 × 768 pixels. For the budget segment, this is just a fairy tale.
IPS matrix, maximum viewing angles, 5-touch multitouch. The screen itself is produced by Japan Display. The pixel density is simply lethal for a state employee and reaches 355 ppi. For comparison, the iPhone 6 has a pixel density of 326 ppi. The brightness is adjustable in both automatic and manual modes. The margin of brightness initially seemed to me not very large. But in the summer sun the screen still remains readable, although it dims considerably. This display shows warm colors, with some yellowing. Here's an example of the same image on the 4.7-inch THL 4000 and Infocus M2 smartphones. The brightness on the devices is set to maximum.
As I said at the beginning of the review, the control buttons are on the screen. In everyday use, they are quite comfortable - you just need to get used to. And one more pleasant moment - the display of the smartphone is protected by the third generation Gorilla Glass, so it is not at all necessary to mold a film on it.
SOUND AND SPEAKER QUALITY
The main speaker is loud and, unlike most smartphones in this price segment, produces a very decent sound. The sound in high-quality headphones is also pleasing to me. It is an order of magnitude better than in smartphones of the budget and even the mid-price segment. The speaker is decent - there is no discomfort during voice communication, the interlocutor is heard normally.
IRON AND PRODUCTIVITY
The brain of the smartphone is a 4-core Snapdragon MSM8926 processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz. Graphics accelerator Adreno 305. The amount of RAM is 1 GB, and the built-in memory is 8 GB, of which part is occupied by the system, and exactly 5 GB are available to the user.
Let's see what results the Infocus M2 will show in the AnTuTu folk test. The result is in front of you - the device scored just over 18,000 points. For a state employee, these figures are quite acceptable.
The performance is sufficient for the smooth operation of the interface. The smartphone responds quickly to commands and is absolutely not slow-witted. Viewing video content in FullHD resolution is straightforward. Casual games, of course, go for everyone. Three-dimensional toys are more serious, the phone also pulls. Perhaps the most sophisticated of them may require lower graphics levels for a comfortable game. At the same time, you should understand that the Infocus M2 is, of course, not a smart game and it is simply stupid to demand megaprocessing from it. But all day-to-day tasks are quite tough for him.
OPERATING SYSTEM AND INTERFACE
The operating system on board is Android 4.4 KitKat. It is noticed that smart comes from different sellers with different firmware. This copy came with firmware 00WW_2_260. Two letters WW in the name of the firmware indicate that the smart was intended for the Taiwanese and Indian markets. If the name of the firmware contains the letters CN, then the smart is focused on the Chinese market.
The Russian language in this firmware is in the list of languages, but when it is activated, a lot of menu items still remain not in Russian. At the same time, there are no Chinese or hieroglyphs - just a lot of points in English. Personally, this does not give me any problems, since I am friends with the English-language interface. The user can choose one of two preset interfaces. Yes, there are two launchers at once, which are activated in the HOME item. The first one is called EZ Launcher, is minimalist and has a tiled interface - just like on Windows smartphones. The second launcher is called Vizio Launcher and it already looks more like Android familiar to everyone. By the way, any of these interfaces can be removed. You can also install any other third-party launcher from Google Play.
By default, we have 5 desktops. You can customize the transition effects between them, manage the icons at your discretion, change the wallpaper, use widgets, etc. Everything is as usual. By the way, there are just a myriad of pre-installed widgets - I counted at least 60 of them.
There are several preinstalled apps. For example Flashlight, Weather Forecast, Youtube, Google Maps, Clean Master, Battery Saver and some others. Three browsers are preinstalled: Baidu, Chrome and Maxthon. The Play Market is also in place.
I will not tell you about each menu item. Everything here is familiar and a modern user can figure it out without any problems. I will only note the presence in the smartphone of such a feature as controlling the phone by means of the movements of its body. This menu item is called MOTION. There is also a tutorial, where the principle of operation of this functionality is clearly shown. For example, to end a call, you need to put the smart screen down. Or, while listening to music, you can skip to the next track by shaking your smartphone.
CAMERAS
In this regard, the InFocus M2 is simply handsome. I would call it a budget camera phone and smartphone with the best photographic capabilities in the budget segment under $ 100. Why be modest there. The quality of the cameras here is not a bit worse than that of some devices with a price tag that is 2 times higher than that of the InFocus M2.
The main camera is honest 8 megapixels, with a Samsung sensor, f2.2 aperture and BSI backlight technology. There is a huge number of settings and preset shooting modes, various filters, HDR function, panoramic mode, timer shooting and much more. Separately, I would like to note the speed of the camera - no gags and no thoughtfulness, all commands are processed quickly.
If usually in budget models we see only plugs that vaguely resemble cameras and give out something only vaguely similar to photographs, then in this case we have the opportunity to take really good pictures: clear and quite watchable on large monitor screens. Both normal and macro photographs are excellent. In the dark, you can also shoot normally with the flash, but at a short distance.

Video filming is possible in FULL HD resolution with a frequency of 30 fps and its quality is also decent for phones, although the quality of full-fledged video cameras, of course, is still far away, since there is no normal stabilization and picture detail.
But that's not all. A decent main camera is a good thing, of course. But in InFocus, the business trip, the real magicians work. For this money, they gave us a front camera of almost the same quality as the main one. Yes, yes ... the front camera is also 8 megapixel and can also shoot Full HD video. But why is there, the front camera even has its own flash. So for cameras, I would give the smartphone a 5+ rating on a five-point basis.

COMMUNICATIONS AND WIRELESS INTERFACES
Dvuhsimochnost is implemented perfectly here. In the menu, you can configure the operation of each SIM card. You can assign a name to each card, its color, set a separate ringtone and set other parameters. SIM card # 1 can be used in 2G, 3G and 4G networks. The second SIM card is designed only to work in conventional 2G networks. 4G communication is supported on the most common LTE-FDD frequencies in Russia: 1800/2100/2600 MHz. Considering that most Russian operators provide 4G services at 2600 MHz, InFocus M2 can be safely recommended to those who want to buy a cheap 4G smartphone for use in Russia.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are available and work fine. I haven’t done any tests with Wi-Fi signal reception, but even without any tests I can say that the smartphone picks up the wireless network no worse than other phones. By the way, there is such a joke with Wi-Fi on native firmware. On a new phone without SIM cards, Wi-Fi only works on 11 channels out of 13 possible. And if your router works on the 12th or 13th channel, then the smart will not be able to connect to it. Don't be alarmed. To fix this, you just need to insert the SIM-card of the Russian operator (in my case it was MTS) into the phone, and wifi_country_code will automatically be registered in the system, after which Wi-Fi works normally on all 13 channels.
InFocus M2 supports three satellite systems at once. These are American GPS, Russian GLONASS and Chinese Beidou. And if the latter is relevant only in China, then navigation by GPS or GLONASS will not be superfluous. The smartphone can be safely used as a navigator.

Here he is - the ideal compact budget employee, demonstrating a simply wonderful combination of price and quality. For minimal money, we get a modern, neat Android smartphone with an excellent screen, excellent cameras, good navigation capabilities, acceptable performance and high-quality assembly.
Not a bad choice for opponents of spade phones. The only drawback is the incomplete Russification of the native firmware. Therefore, I recommend the model to those who are friendly with the English interface or are not afraid of the dreaded word "flashing".
