In the first part of the review, I described the Login 2 package, the general characteristics of the tablet, its appearance and technical characteristics. In the second part of the review of the MegaFon Login 2 tablet, I would like to pay attention to the software component of the device out of the box, performance tests and the possibility of improving technical performance.

So, first of all, let's look at what is installed on the tablet. In addition to standard Android and Google applications, the device has a software package from MegaFon and Yandex: a mobile wallet with a layout that is clearly not for 1024x600 resolution; The “Replace the beep” program is not relevant for me; the "MegaFon - Navigator" service with a rather pleasant interface, but functioning only via the mobile Internet (we will get to it in the next part of the review); GetUpps app! - analogue of Google Market; as well as a browser and search bar. In general, the standard software was no surprise.

Then let's go to the Android settings menu.

Next, we will perform a number of optional standard procedures for a new Android device: enable USB debugging, the ability to install applications from unknown sources, connect Wi-Fi and synchronize the tablet with your Google account. If you do not have a Google account, then the system will prompt you to create one.

Now the Play Market is working, you can download and install any applications. First of all, I downloaded the AnTuTu Benchmark program for a comparative test of the tablet's performance.

As can be seen from the screenshots, the AnTuTu rating is 6478 , which is considered unsatisfactory for modern realities. But you still need to take into account the cost of the tablet, which is much lower than any higher-level device in the rating. Although the tablet’s resources are not enough to comfortably play “heavy” 3D games, it is perfect for surfing the Internet, communicating on social networks, playing multimedia content, including HD, playing “arcade time killers” and working in office applications.

As you can see from the screenshots, we have only 924MB for applications and 1.1GB for user files. This may not be enough to install “heavy” programs, so you need to swap “Internal memory” and “Memory card”:

1. Install the MicroSD memory card into the slot.

3. Then: Settings - Memory - Storage location SD card.

4. After which we have in the explorer: sdcard0 is a memory card, sdcard1 is internal memory.

Now applications will be installed directly on the memory card.

Then we will try to lighten the system and speed up the tablet, for this we need to remove unnecessary stock software and unload the RAM. First of all we need to get Root is right.

We download it to your tablet, install it using a standard explorer, after checking the box in Menu > Settings > Security > Unknown sources.

We launch the program, select the SuperSU application and click on any of the methods presented below (I used Aragorn and Gendalf), some may not work, do not despair and try another of the proposed methods, after receiving rights, reboot the tablet!

Root rights have been obtained, now you need to download an application called Root Browser (File Manager) or another similar application, we also download it to our tablet and install it.

After installing and launching the program, a window will pop up asking you for superuser rights - confirm!

Now you can safely delete it. Please note - CALM! After all, if you delete something that you yourself don’t know, then your tablet may simply not start later. To delete the desired program, you need to long-tap on its shortcut in the Root Browser, and then press Delete.

Everything is done at your own risk! System applications are located in the root of the device > system > app. Installed programs that are not in this folder can be removed using standard Android tools: Settings - Applications - Application management

Programs that can be safely removed:

  • Email
  • Gmail
  • Google +
  • Google Maps
  • Yandex.Browser
  • GetUpps!
  • Play Books
  • Play Music
  • Play Press
  • Play Games
  • Play Movies
  • Video studio
  • Hangouts
  • TalkBack
  • Youtube
  • Browser
  • News and weather
  • Change the dial tone
  • Navigation Megafon

About Root rights

Having access to the superuser profile, you get a number of features that are not available in normal operation.
First of all, obtaining Root makes it possible to remove standard applications imposed by device manufacturers, change themes and shortcuts, as well as launch specialized applications that significantly expand the capabilities of the smartphone, for example applications for creating backup copies of the entire system, etc. (usually such applications require Root -right). Experienced users can greatly modify the standard system.
Attention! All manipulations in the system with superuser rights are performed by the device owner at his own peril and risk; after changing or removing system applications supplied by the manufacturer with the device, proper operation of the device is not guaranteed!

So, after cleaning the system of unnecessary programs, the AnTuTu test results increased slightly, which in itself is good news!

Performance has increased by 631 points according to AnTuTu, the tablet subjectively seems faster.

In the next part of the review, I will analyze in detail and test everything related to communication and data transfer, namely: 2G/3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, operation in phone mode and GPS positioning.

Check for Root rights

An event happened that everyone had been waiting for for so long - finally the “mythical” Megaphone Login 3 appeared on sale. “Mythical” - because there were a lot of rumors about what kind of device it could be on the Internet. Some hoped that Login 3 would support LTE and that the smartphone would be a worthy replacement for the archival Megafon 4G Turbo model, others were simply waiting for a high-quality smartphone with a large screen, similar to MTS Smart Run, for example (which for some reason users recognized as the best operator smartphone of 2014 - according to the results, by the way, in the category "Best operator smartphone" - Smart Run - 1st place, Megafon Optima - 2nd place and Beeline Smart 3 - 3rd) ... But neither one nor the other didn't happen. Under the proud name Megafon Login 3, the operator presented us with virtually the same 3.5" Login 2, only “slightly different”. I would say the same... however, I won’t. The profile is already clear. In the next screenshot you can see Megafon Login 2 (right) and Megafon Login 3 (left), as you can see - visually they are very similar:

Total - we got a 3.5" smart, with Android 4.4.2, dual-core MediaTek MT6572M (1 GHz), 512 Mb RAM and 2 Mpix main camera at a price of 2490 rubles (this is in 2015, the year when all operators and Megafon, among others, for the same price you can find a 4" smartphone - and not locked to the operator, you don't have to look far for examples, on the same Megafon website - ZTE V815, the same 2490, but 4" and no simlock But). However, this is where my copious outpouring of words mixed with indignation comes to an end and I (finally) move on to the topic of today’s article, namely, installing CWM and obtaining root rights to Megafon Login 3.

How to install CWM and get root for Megafon Login 3?

First, a few screenshots. so to speak “proof”, i.e. proof:

In the first picture you see a screenshot from Root Checker Pro, which clearly shows that we have received root. And on the second you see Login 3 running on Megafon - Carliv Touch Recoeery MTK CWM-based v6.0.4.4. Why Carliv? Yes, if only because it has a separate menu for launching Aroma File Manager, which is already included in the archive of our “ammunition”. So what do we do? First of all, download the archive with “ammunition”, i.e. all necessary for installing CWM and root files:

Next, unpack its contents into a separate folder, and the files are Kitkat-SuperSU-v2.00+.zip,

mtk_xp_vista_7_8_x32_x64.zip and the clockworkmod folder are written to microSD, which must then be inserted into the phone.

Actually, the process of installing CWM and getting root has already been described in sufficient detail in many of my other articles, for example, in this one - Megafon Login+ (MFLoginPH). Installing CWM and obtaining Root rights. , the whole difference for Login 3 is that we take the files from the archive given in this post, and use the standard instructions. But to avoid confusion, I will repeat all the steps here.

Installing CMW on Megafon Login 3 (ML3, 3.5")

  1. Download the archive !CWM_Megafon_Login_3_Smartphone.7z and unpack it into a separate folder.
  2. The contents of the archive should be as follows:
  • images- folder with pictures from this article
  • SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01- folder with the required version of SP Flash Tool, i.e. Flasher for MTK devices
  • mtk_xp_vista_7_8_x32_x64.zip- archive with drivers for the device MT65xx Preloader, PreLoader USB VCOM Port. By the way, all operating systems are supported, i.e. I installed the driver data without any problems, even on Windows 8.1 x64
  • Login3_Phone_Carliv_Touch_Recovery.img - CWM Recovery image for flashing via SP Flash Tool
  • Login3_Phone_Original_Recovery.img - an image of the original (stock) recovery, if you suddenly want to return the stock recovery
  • MT6572_Android_scatter.txt- Scatter file for the flasher, containing partition layout
  • Kitkat-SuperSU-v2.00+.zip- ZIP file for installing SuperSU and getting root via CWM
  • As you can see, the archive is quite complete and represents a “repair kit” for all occasions. The first thing we do is launch the SP Flash Tool (the flash_tool.exe file in the folder of the same name)
  • Immediately after launch, go to the Download tab and click on the Scatter Loading button, where we select our MT6572_Android_scatter.txt file. Then check the box for RECOVERY and select the file with the CWM image in the Location. As a result, everything should look like in the picture:

Then click the Download button with the arrow. The program will go into standby mode for the device to connect.
  • Turn off the phone (this is mandatory, i.e. the phone must turn off completely). Then we connect it to the PC.
  • At the moment of connection, an unknown MT65xx PreLoader device will be detected and the OS will prompt you to install drivers for it. The picture below clearly shows this. It is better to open the device manager immediately before connecting the phone in order to “catch” the moment the MT65xx PreLoader appears. If the device appears and the OS does not offer to automatically install drivers, then this must be done manually by right-clicking on the MT65xx PreLoader device.

  • Select "Search for drivers on this computer" and indicate the folder in which the unpacked contents of the mtk_xp_vista_7_8_x32_x64.zip archive are located (i.e. by this point you should unpack the archive somewhere). After the drivers are successfully installed, the picture in the device manager should change to this:

Those. unknown device MT65xx PreLoader, after installing the drivers, is detected by the system as PreLoader USB VCOM Port in the "Ports (COM and LPT)" section. To proceed to the next step, you must make sure that you have a virtual COM port in your system.

  • After this, the SP Flash Tool will begin the process of flashing the Recovery firmware; it will take a few seconds. If the firmware process has not started, for example, if after connecting the phone you took “too long” to install the drivers, disconnect the phone from the PC, re-set all parameters in the SP Flash Tool and click the Download button to wait for the phone to connect. Then connect your phone.

When the firmware is successfully completed, you will see the message Download OK.

You can disconnect your phone from your PC - you have CWM installed.

If instead of CWM you want to flash the original recovery, then instead of Login3_Phone_Carliv_Touch_Recovery.img in the Location in the SP Flash Tool you need to select Login3_Phone_Original_Recovery.img.

We settled on flashing CWM. Now, to enter it, you need to hold down the button while the phone is turned off. Volume UP Press the Power button. The volume up button must be held until the CWM screen appears, i.e. first you will feel that the phone vibrates and turns on, then the Android screensaver will appear (during this entire time you do not release the volume button) and only then CWM will load. Bingo.

How to root Megafon Login 3 (ML3, 3.5")?

    1. To get root rights to Megafon Login 3 (ML3, 3.5") we need CWM installed.
    2. We upload the Kitkat-SuperSU-v2.00+.zip archive to the SD card in any way convenient for you, after which we launch CWM, i.e. Hold the Volume UP button and press the Power button.
    3. In the CWM menu, select Install ZIP. Select the choose zip from sdcard menu.
    4. Navigation through the CWM menu is carried out using the Volume+ / Volume- buttons, selecting a menu item using the Power button.
    5. After installing the zip, select Reboot system now in the main menu, when the question appears Root access possibly lost. Fix? We answer Yes. After this, the phone will reboot.
    6. That's all. We have Root, Super SU is installed.

At the beginning of the article there is a screenshot of Root Checker Pro, proving the successful installation of Root.
