Xiaomi mobile phones. Xiaomi mobile phones Smart bracelets xiaomi mi band instructions

Gadgets other than smartphones and tablets are becoming increasingly popular. Today, these include, for example, fitness bracelets. They are used to allow their owner to track their activity throughout the day, receive notifications from their mobile phones, use a “sleep planner” and so on.

In today's article we will talk about one of the most popular bracelets in the world. We are talking about Xiaomi Mi Band. The instructions in Russian for this gadget will allow you to understand it even if you have no experience interacting with similar devices. However, you don't have to get it. In this article we will summarize all the most useful information and make it more understandable.

Getting started. Assembly

Having purchased the device, you receive it in a specific box made of rough cardboard with the Mi logo on the lid. This is the traditional packaging design style from Xiaomi, nothing new. In order to start working with the bracelet, you need to take it out of the box and assemble it. Now we will tell you how this is done.

In fact, everything is simple when it comes to Xiaomi Mi Band. The instructions in Russian, which were available in the kit, read: you need to remove the base (this is a rubber strap that will be on your hand) and the module from the package. The latter is the metal core of the device, the “brain” of your bracelet. It contains a processor, all sensors and batteries. Next you need to connect these elements.

On the strap you will see a special recess made in the shape of the core. This is where the last one needs to be placed. It should fit perfectly without any extra effort on your part, no matter which side you use. That's it, then you just need to put it on and use it.

The instructions for the Mi Band in Russian do not describe how the strap is fixed. This is an intuitive procedure: you need to pass one end of it through the ring located on the other, and then fix the tip in the hole you need. This will create a special “double” mount, designed to hold the accessory on your hand as securely as possible.

Software on smartphone

In order for the device to successfully perform all its functions, you need to synchronize it with your phone (or, for example, tablet). This will allow you to make settings for the bracelet, read received data from it, and connect some additional options. Synchronization is carried out via Bluetooth (more on this a little later), but for now let's talk a little about the software.

The instructions for the Mi Band in Russian indicate that in order for the phone to “understand” your gadget, the application must be preinstalled on it. It must be downloaded from Google Play or AppStore, depending on the version of your phone's operating system.

Also note that the bracelet can only interact with Android OS version no lower than 4.3 and iOS version no lower than 5.0.

Synchronization

The direct “connection” between the device and the phone is carried out, as already mentioned, through the Bluetooth wireless interface. This is done very simply: just activate the module on your smartphone, and then go to the application (downloaded earlier). According to the instructions for the Mi Band in Russian, after the smartphone finds your bracelet, the latter should react by flashing blue sensors. To confirm synchronization, you must click on one of them several times. After this, you can be sure that the gadget will synchronize with the mobile device from which you will be connected to it.

Indicators

As you understand, Xiaomi Mi Band (the instructions in Russian also ask you to pay attention to this) does not have a display for a more understandable display of information. Instead, a system of flashing indicators is used, by the color and number of which you can understand what the device requires of you.

Blue indicators indicate your progress towards the goal set (previously in the settings). For example, one light is up to ⅓ of the intended number of movements, two - more than ⅓, three lights with a flashing top - more than ⅔ of the total. And if all three indicators are solid blue, it means you have completed your plan.

According to the instructions describing the Mi Band in Russian, there is nothing complicated about it. However, don't forget that color indicators aren't just about your physical activity plan. They can also signal other events.

Charger

In particular, if your bracelet lights up with three red lights, you know that it is discharged. Therefore, the instructions for the Mi Band in Russian show the procedure that needs to be performed in order to replenish the battery charge of your device.

So, first you need to place the metal core of the device in a special charging device that came with the gadget. The second end of this cord is in the form of a USB. It must be connected to the PC in order for the charging process to begin.

Here indicators also have their role. If the sensors glow green, this indicates either that the charging process is ongoing (one burning element); or about a device battery that is completely ready for use (all three elements).

Malfunctions

The instructions in Russian, intended for Mi Band owners, also contain a list of possible malfunctions. This section exists so that as you use the device, you can independently determine the cause of any errors and problems that appear during operation.

In the future, with these malfunctions, you can contact the user support service center for repairs. So, this list contains: problems with indicators (which for some reason do not light up); inability to properly configure the gadget; errors with the step sensor (incorrect detection and counting); inability to charge the device.

The list of possible problems also includes physical damage to the device: cracks in the case, for example.

Guarantees

Also, if you buy an original device (meaning those that came to Russia legally), the manufacturer provides special guarantees. They are related to the list of problems from the list of faults that we mentioned above.

There are two periods during which the user can contact the company: 15 days if one of the specified problems is detected. In this case, you can replace the bracelet with a new one or carry out free repairs using the company’s funds (if it really is a problem from the list).

The user is also given a 12-month warranty, and if a problem occurs, the owner of the bracelet can get their device repaired free of charge at Xiaomi service centers.

Other information

The instructions describing the Mi Band in Russian (iOS 8 or Android - the smartphone platform does not matter) also contain additional information about the materials from which the core and strap of the bracelet are made, as well as data on their toxicity and allergenicity indicators. Here the developers also included information about the technical characteristics of the model, the degree of its protection from water and dust (IP67), operating temperature ranges (-10...+50), materials, dimensions, etc.

Have you become the owner of a fitness bracelet from Xiaomi? But don't know how to connect your Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse to your smartphone and configure the "Mi Fit" application to collect data from the Mi Band? - Then our lesson on connecting and setting up Mi Band 1S Pulse for the first time is designed to help you!

You can see a detailed review of Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse.

Preparation
First, we need to recharge our Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse tracker - put it on charge for 1-2 hours so that the battery is fully charged.

The fact is that most bracelets come from the factory with a battery charge of 1%.

Start setting up
First, go to your application store and look for an application called "Mi Fit" - this is an official application from Xiaomi, created specifically for the Mi Band.

Then we go to the smartphone settings and turn on Bluetooth - we don’t connect to anything in particular, since our bracelet called “Mi” should connect automatically.

Setting up the Mi Fit application
After all the preparations, open our application and click on the bottom “Sign in” icon.

Now we are taken to the account linking page, where we will need to enter the current mobile phone number, as an SMS with a code confirming registration will be sent to it. We select the top item with the country code and look for our homeland - for Belarus, the field with the code is combined with the Barbados code.

For Russia there is a separate line, according to the alphabet.

After we have selected the required code, we must enter the phone number with the operator code (there is no need to enter the country code).

In the "PW" column we must enter a password - the password must be from 8 to 16 characters, including letters and numbers. For example, this: “Kfmr455mele” - this is very important (don’t forget to rewrite or remember the password).

After entering the password, click on the “Create Mi Account” item.

Then we need to enter the code like in the picture to prove that we are not robots. Enter the code 1 in 1 as in the pictures, observing capital letters. After entering, click "OK".

After entering the code, you will be taken to a page for entering a secret code, which will be sent to your number via SMS; you only have one minute to enter the code - hurry up. In the window on the left, remove the inscription “Enter verfication code” and enter the code from the SMS - press the “Next” button.

Registration is almost complete, you are taken to your profile page, wait about 1-2 minutes for it to fully load and click on the “Sign in” button.

On the next page we will be asked to come up with our own nickname - enter any name in English and click on the "Next" button.

Now we proceed to personal data settings. On the next page, select your gender.

Then the date of birth.

Of course, you will need to enter your current weight.

The last point is very interesting, since you need to select how many steps you usually take in one day - this is very important, since based on this parameter, the application will calculate your “lucky” days, that is, whether you met your norm today or not . For most, it will be quite normal to set 10,000 thousand steps for yourself - this is the norm for an ordinary person who does not even play sports; if you run (you run distances of 5-10 km, then the optimal value will be about 18-20,000 steps). This setting can be changed in the future.

After you have set the value for the number of steps completed, click on the “Finish” button and this is where I had a problem, since the button remained inactive (the setup was carried out on an iPhone 5S). If the same thing happened to you, then do not be nervous, but follow our instructions. Just close the application completely through the running application manager - don’t be afraid, the connection settings will not be lost and you won’t need to enter them again. Close the application.

And re-launch the “Mi Fit” application on your smartphone.

We are almost done with the first step. Now we need to directly “link” our Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse to the application in order to start measuring data. To do this, on the main page of the application, select the “Profile” item - it is located at the bottom left.

Now we are on the profile page, where we can connect our Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse to the application, and therefore to the smartphone. Select the "Add device" item.

And select our device "Mi Band".

Here you will need to act quickly - remove the bracelet capsule from the strap, if it was in it, and attach the front part (where the metal insert with LEDs are located) to the screen, exactly along the edge, as shown on the application page. Wait until the capsule begins to vibrate, wait another 5-10 seconds and place your index finger on the front part (which you used to place the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse on the smartphone). A confirmation should appear on the screen. By the way, each operating system has its own binding system and on some versions of Android you will just need to place your finger on the front part and wait for vibration; this example of attaching a tracker to the screen was described for an iOS device. After all these steps, you may receive a notification about synchronizing the tracker and incoming calls on your smartphone - confirm this action and continue setting up.

After linking the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse to the phone, you are taken to the page of the most important tracker settings. Let's look at each point separately:

  • Find band - activates vibration, helping to find a lost bracelet
  • Band position - a setting that determines which hand you wear your 1S Pulse on
  • Other information related to the software versions for the tracker and heart rate monitor, as well as its MAC address

After all the settings, click on the arrow in the upper left corner. You will return to your profile settings - there is nothing interesting for us here.

At this point, the setup is complete and the tracker should start working - try walking around a little so that it starts counting your steps, but if this doesn’t happen, then the next chapter of our connecting Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse is just for you.

Phone settings for using Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse
The fact is that in most smartphones, in order to approve the collection of information about the number of steps and rhythm, you need to make some changes in the privacy settings. Therefore, go to the phone settings and find the “Privacy” item (example on an iPhone).

Find the "Health" item.

We see our application "Mi Fit" and open it.

We activate all available settings - you're done.

Now you can safely study the functionality of the application and what is responsible for what.

Functionality of the "Mi Fit" application
We open the main page of the application and see the circle - the circle will gradually fill in as the number of steps you take, but the number of steps needed depends on the value that we set for you at the very beginning of the setup. If you complete the required amount in a day, the bracelet will happily vibrate on your hand, and the application will count you one “Goal” - a point for a productive day. Also, this circle displays not only steps, but also distance traveled and calories burned.

If you click on the arrow at the top right, you can tell your friends about your successes.

If you click on this tab, you will be taken to a general graph of your sleep statistics, where you can see periods of alternating deep and light sleep. At the bottom there is a "History" button, where statistics are available in the context of weeks, months and even years.

We go to the main page and click on the “Weight” item - here the change in your weight is calculated.

Go to the main page again and open the “Heart rate” item - here we can measure our pulse. To do this, click on the tab itself and go to the heart rate calculation page.

To calculate the pulse on the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse, we need to press the "Measure" button at the very bottom.

After that, we get to a page where we are shown how to position the bracelet correctly - ideally, you should position the inside of it towards the veins and not move. Click on the "Got it" button at the very bottom.

Your heart rate is being read.

We return to the main page again and pay attention to the very last point, which keeps statistics of our successful days - those days when we passed our norm of steps.

This is where all available data for analysis ends.

Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse settings for interacting with a smartphone
We return to the main page again and select the “Play” item at the very bottom in the middle.

Here we can connect notifications about incoming calls to your smartphone. And also set the time and days for the alarm. To notify about incoming calls, simply select "Incoming call" on the left.

Then activate the mode and select how long after the bracelet starts vibrating after the start of an incoming call.

To set an alarm, return to the previous page and select "Alarm".

Here you have access to three different alarm clocks, the time of which you can set as you wish - taking into account the days and frequency. A smart alarm clock is also available for Android, which selects the most comfortable moment to wake up.

The alarm clock is easy to set according to the days of the week.

General information about Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse
We go to the main page and select the “Profile” item at the very bottom of the page, all data about your activity is available here.

Just below there is an opportunity to change the rate of steps if you are planning to increase your pace - the “Activity goal” item.

This completes the entire process of connecting the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse to the phone and setting it up - we wish you success!

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is one of the most popular fitness bracelets. It is distinguished by wide functionality, low price (about 1.5-2 thousand rubles) and good performance.

Mi Band 2 features

This fitness bracelet has wide functionality and therefore can be used in various cases.

Thanks to step counting, you can use Xiaomi Mi Band 2 for running and sports. The built-in accelerometer and gyroscope are responsible for this function. They determine the movements and movements of the device in space, and the software recognizes steps from all this activity and counts them.

Another possibility that uses these functional elements is smart alarm clock. In this mode, the bracelet analyzes the phases of sleep. The alarm goes off when the body is ready to wake up.

How does Mi Band 2 detect sleep stages? Similar to steps - this uses the built-in accelerometer and gyroscope. In the rapid phase of sleep, when the body can wake up alert and rested, the body moves a lot. In slow mode, the body practically does not move. The bracelet detects when its sleeping owner begins to move a lot - that is, enters the REM sleep phase - and turns on the alarm.

Another function of the bracelet is heart rate determination. The Mi Band 2 heart rate monitor uses technology to analyze the light transmission of human body tissue to calculate your pulse. To count your heart rate, you need to press the corresponding button in the Mi Fit application.

The display displays notifications from programs, time, during calls - the contact name, as well as some other information, including the measured pulse.

Among the capabilities of the Mi Band 2, which can be expanded by installing third-party applications, are a stopwatch, a timer, analysis of movements in training for certain sports, and much more. Of course, the bracelet can be used with various programs like Sleep as Android or Runtastic for tracking physical activity - if the user needs it and the capabilities of the standard companion application are not enough.

Setting up the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet

Setting up the device is quite simple.

How to turn on Xiaomi Mi Band 2?

The fitness bracelet turns on automatically. It must be fully charged (this will take approximately 1.5 hours) via the USB connector of the computer from the cable that comes with the device. After this, the bracelet will be automatically activated and will be ready to pair with your smartphone via Bluetooth.

How to link Mi Band 2 to your phone?

For the bracelet to work, you will need to install a special Mi Fit application from the company store - Google Play Market for Android smartphones and AppStore for iOS devices. Then you need to turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone. After this, you can open the Mi Fit application.

To connect the bracelet to the phone and any other operations, you will need a Mi account. If available, you must log in to the application. If you don't have an account yet, you can create one directly from the Mi Fit application using your email address. After registering in the Mi network, authorization will occur automatically.

The app will then prompt you to connect to the bracelet. You need to select your device on the pairing screen in the MiFit app. After this, for some time (usually less than a minute), the program will synchronize with the bracelet, and upon completion of this process, Mi Band 2 can be used.

How to set up Xiaomi Mi Band 2

All Xiaomi Mi Band 2 settings are made from the proprietary Mi Fit companion application.

You can set the following options:

  • Bracelet Location: left or right hand. When this setting is set correctly, the device will count steps more accurately;
  • Information displayed on the bracelet display: time and date, steps, distance traveled, calories burned, heart rate, battery charge. If you do not need to show any of this, this option can be disabled;
  • Time display format– large watch or small watch with date;
  • Turn on the display by raising your hand. If this item is active, the bracelet's screen will light up when you look at it. If disabled, the display will always light up. It is recommended to activate this parameter - this will increase the battery life of the bracelet;
  • Using the heart rate monitor in sleep tracking mode. If the parameter is enabled, the bracelet will turn on the alarm at the most appropriate time, but this will increase battery consumption.

In fact, all these settings should be turned on or off based on your personal preferences.

Some bracelet features can be configured in another menu. Among such functions of Mi Band 2 is displaying the name of the caller, SMS text and other notifications. And they are configured directly in the “Notifications” menu.

In this menu, you can select which notifications will be broadcast to the bracelet. Among those available:

  • Incoming call. The bracelet will vibrate when there is a call and try to display the contact's name;
  • Alarm. We are talking about those applications that are recognized by the Android operating system as alarm clocks (for example, those installed in Google Clock or the stock clock application are recognized, but those configured in Solid Alarm Clock Extreme are not);
  • Notifications from third-party applications. The icon of the program that sent the notification is displayed on the screen;
  • Inactivity alerts. If the bracelet has not registered activity for too long - well, that is, the user has been sitting for too long without moving - it will vibrate and remind you that it would be a good idea to walk around a little;
  • SMS messages. The bracelet will show an icon and try to display text;
  • Alarm clock set on the bracelet itself via the Mi Fit application;
  • Goal achievement notifications. For example, if the user sets himself the task of walking 10,000 steps per day, the bracelet will vibrate when this number is reached.

You can also set the time at which the bracelet will stop bothering you with notifications.

It is worth remembering that in most cases the bracelet does not correctly display the caller’s name and message text if they are typed in Cyrillic (in Russian). This is due to the fact that the device was not officially supplied to the Russian Federation, and Xiaomi does not have a representative office in our country. Therefore, support for the Cyrillic alphabet was simply not added to the bracelet firmware and application capabilities.

At the end of the instructions there is information on what to do if the bracelet does not display the caller's name correctly.

How to use the Mi Band 2 bracelet

After the initial setup, the bracelet becomes completely ready for use, so usually instructions in Russian or a user manual for Xiaomi Mi Band 2 are not required. Additional manipulations are necessary only in some cases.

How to reboot Mi Band 2?

There is no usual way to reboot the Mi Band 2. The easiest option is to wait until it is completely discharged. This will be similar to a soft reboot.

To speed up the reboot, you can use an unsafe method. Just put the bracelet capsule in the freezer for a couple of hours. But you should not do this, as this may damage the device.

How to set up a smart alarm clock on Xiaomi Mi Band 2?

In the latest versions of the Mi Fit app, Xiaomi has removed the smart alarm function. Therefore, to activate this feature, you will need to use third-party applications. One of them is Xsmart (download for Android).

  • Setting up a smart alarm clock is as follows:
  • Set up all necessary alarms in third-party applications (system clock, third-party applications, Mi Fit, etc.);
    Install Xsmart;
  • Open Mi Fit, select Profile, then Devices – and copy the mac address of the bracelet;
  • In Xsmart, enter the mac address of the bracelet in the appropriate field and click “Check”;
  • Set up alarms in the Xsmart application itself and make sure that the Xsmart item is installed next to each of them.

That's it, smart alarm clocks are set up. In the future, you will only need to turn them on and off, as well as change the time - and all this as needed.

How to turn off Mi Band 2?

No way. You can only wait until it is completely discharged.

How to reset Mi Band 2 to factory settings?

Without a special flasher (hardware, that is, a separate device) - no way. The bracelet remembers the Mi account to which it is linked, and also stores some information about the user’s last physical activity.

Similar to a "soft reboot", you can do a "soft reset". To do this you will need:

  • Open the Mi Fit application, there Profile, on this screen in the “Devices” section find your bracelet;
  • Click the “Disable” button located at the very bottom;
  • Agree with all application warnings;
  • Wait until the bracelet is completely discharged.

After this, it will be in close to factory condition and can be transferred to another person.

An unsafe alternative is a short-term electric shock to the charging contacts of the bracelet. To do this, you will need a piezo generator, which can be removed from a piezo lighter. Its contact must be placed against one of the charging contacts of the bracelet capsule, and the button must be pressed to create a spark. ATTENTION! This method is not recommended for use as it may damage the Xiaomi Mi Band 2!

How to disconnect Xiaomi Mi Band 2 from your phone?

If you only need to unlink the bracelet from your Mi account, you can use the instructions above. If you need to break the Bluetooth pairing of your smartphone and device, you need to do the following:

  • On your smartphone, open the Bluetooth settings (Settings – Bluetooth);
  • Find your bracelet among those already paired and click on the icon with the “gear” symbol next to its name;
  • Click the “Delete” button in the window that opens.

All. The smartphone will no longer connect to the bracelet. The device itself will begin to vibrate as if the connection is lost.

This method does not delete the Mi account from the bracelet and does not break the binding, so you will not be able to transfer the device to someone.

Application for Xiaomi Mi Band 2

The fitness bracelet can be used with both official and third-party applications.

Mi Fit for Mi Band 2 – official application

The official application developed specifically for the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet is Mi Fit. It must be installed immediately after purchasing the device. Through this application you can:

  • Mi account registration;
  • Linking your Mi account to the bracelet and unlinking it;
  • Connecting the bracelet to a smartphone;
  • Initial setup of the bracelet;
  • Tracking your physical activity for a day and a longer period;
  • Setting up bracelet functions.

The Mi Fit app can be downloaded from the company stores for Android and iOS:

For other operating systems you will have to use third-party applications.

The Mi Fit app is required for use with this fitness bracelet. However, it is not the only program that can work with Mi Band 2. The bracelet can be used in conjunction with third-party applications.

What applications does Mi Band 2 work with?

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet works with the following applications:

  • Notify & Fitness for Mi Band– offers advanced notification management, smart alarm clock with heart rate analysis support for a more pleasant awakening, automated heart rate monitoring;
  • Sleep As Android– smart alarm clock with proprietary sleep monitoring technologies;
  • Runtastic, Runkeeper, Endomondo– programs for tracking and storing information about physical activity, including GPS tracking, as well as user stimulation;
  • Google Fit– a proprietary set of fitness tracking services for the Android operating system. Unfortunately, it works with restrictions and requires a link of accounts.

There are also many other applications that expand the functionality of the bracelet (for example, activate music control by pressing its only button) or simply monitor fitness activity.

How to charge Xiaomi Mi Band 2

To charge the fitness bracelet, it is recommended to use the included charger for Xaiomi Mi Band 2, which connects to the USB port of a computer or laptop. It is undesirable to use network units designed for more than 500-700 mA output current. The battery in the bracelet is not designed to be charged with such high currents.

To charge, you need to remove the bracelet capsule from the strap and install it in the appropriate adapter. It is necessary to rotate the capsule so that its charging contacts are in contact with the charging contacts of the adapter.

How long does it take to charge Mi Band 2?

It takes about an hour and a half to charge the fitness bracelet from scratch (if the power source is a computer USB port). The current battery charge level can be viewed in the Mi Fit application.

If you use more powerful power supplies with Xiaomi Mi Band 2, charging time will decrease. But this will increase wear on the battery, which will lead to faster discharge in the future.

What to do if the charger for Mi Band 2 is broken?

If the original charger for Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is broken, buying a new one will not be difficult. Due to their design simplicity, such devices and adapters are found in many online stores.

The cheapest place to find such a charger is on Aliexpress. We have selected the best price-seller rating option for you - click.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 – firmware update

The firmware for Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is updated automatically via the Mi Fit application. Essentially, when updates for Mi Fit are released, new versions of the software for the bracelet arrive.

However, if the latest firmware version has not arrived, or you want to install an alternative version of the software, you can use third-party companion applications for the bracelet - such as Notify & Fitness for Mi Band or Gadgetbridge.

However, all actions through these applications are carried out at your own peril and risk.

How to update Mi Band 2 firmware?

  • Make sure there is a new firmware version for the bracelet;
  • Check for updates for Mi Fit in the app store;
  • If there are none, wait a few days and check for updates again.

Everything else is done at your own peril and risk, as it may damage the bracelet:

  • Install Notify & Fitness for Mi Band;
  • Download the new firmware version and copy it to your phone;
  • Open the Notify & Fitness for Mi Band menu (three dots in the upper right corner);
  • Select “Settings”;
  • Find the item “Mi Band Firmware Version” and click the “Update” button;
  • Click the menu (three dots in the upper right corner) and check the “Advanced” box;
  • Click the “Select file” button;
  • Select file;
  • Click the "Start update" button.

In the same way, custom firmware is uploaded to the bracelet.

A short guide to the Mi Band 2 with the most important questions

What should I do if Mi Band 2 shows questions instead of a name?

Unfortunately, the Mi Fit app is not optimized to display Cyrillic fonts. Therefore, question marks may appear instead of the caller's name. There is no official solution to this problem.

However, you can use the unofficial one. However, this operation is performed at your own peril and risk, since it can lead to both damage to the bracelet and compromise of your Mi account.

  • Uninstall the official Mi Fit app. There is no need to unlink the bracelet from your account;
  • Install the latest version of the Mi Fit application from the MIUI.SU community (download);
  • Log in to the application using your account;
  • Make sure the bracelet is connected to the phone;
  • Go to the smartphone language settings (Settings – Language and input) and change it to Chinese;
  • Restart your smartphone;
  • Go to the Mi Fit app. Wait a while for the bracelet firmware to update;
  • Configure (from memory) the display of necessary notifications, including calls and the name of the caller;
  • Go to the language settings of your smartphone and change it back to Russian.

After this, the caller's name will be displayed.

If after all operations the date in Chinese is displayed on the bracelet's dial, change the dial to one without a date. You can then return the date dial.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 does not count steps correctly

To analyze physical activity, the Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet uses accelerometer and gyroscope data. If it doesn't count steps correctly, check the following:
The bracelet should fit snugly to your hand. If it moves freely, this may lead to extra steps being counted or the ones taken being incorrectly analyzed;
The bracelet must synchronize with the smartphone at least once a day. It is advisable that it be connected constantly.

If the bracelet fits tightly on your hand and synchronizes regularly, but at the same time incorrectly counts steps, you should do a “soft reboot” - completely discharge it, let it sit for a while in the off state, and then charge it again.

If this does not help, you need to unlink the bracelet from your Mi account, discharge it, charge it and link it again.

It is worth remembering that in any case, the accuracy of the calculation will not be absolute, but sufficient. The error is approximately 5-10%.

Mi Band 2 does not connect to the phone

If the Mi Band does not connect to your smartphone, you need to check the following (the procedure is approximately the same for both iOS and Android):
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your smartphone (Settings - Bluetooth);
Make sure your smartphone's Bluetooth is at least 4.0. Information about this is given in the technical specifications of the smartphone. If it has generation 3.0, unfortunately, the devices are incompatible;
Make sure that there is no other Mi Band 2 in the list of paired Bluetooth devices. If there is, delete it;
Just in case, delete the current pairing of the smartphone and bracelet via Settings - Bluetooth and try pairing the devices via the MiFit application;
Perform a “soft reboot” of the fitness bracelet;
Try connecting the bracelet via Notify & Fitness for Mi Band and update the device firmware (works only on Android).

In addition, during the search process (the bracelet begins to vibrate), you can press a button. In some cases this helps.

Mi Band 2 discharges quickly

The problem of fast discharge often occurs due to incorrect firmware. Therefore, it can be solved by flashing the smartphone. For these purposes, you can use the Notify & Fitness for Mi Band program.

Detailed instructions on changing the firmware are given in the section “Xiaomi Mi Band 2 – firmware update”.

If you are using the official firmware, but the bracelet still discharges quickly, you should check the frequency of use of the heart rate monitor. It can turn on automatically in running or sleep tracking modes. It is worth disabling them if you do not need to track your heart rate.

How to update Mi Band 2 firmware

The firmware update arrives automatically, often simultaneously with the update of the MiFit companion application. If a new firmware version has been released, but the update has not yet arrived, you should wait a few days.

An unsafe method for changing the firmware is given in the section “Xiaomi Mi Band 2 - firmware update”.

How to set the time on Mi Band 2

The fitness bracelet does not have its own watch. The device displays the time set on the phone. Therefore, if the watch is not working correctly, you should make sure that it is configured correctly in your smartphone.

If the time in your smartphone is set correctly, but the bracelet clock is still in a hurry or behind, a “soft reboot” will help (completely discharging the capsule and then charging it).

Mi Band 2 stopped measuring heart rate

Most often this is due to problems with the firmware. You can wait for the official update or use the instructions given in the sections “What to do if Mi Band 2 shows questions instead of a name” or “Xiaomi Mi Band 2 - firmware update”.

If Mi Band 2 does not measure the pulse, then you should make sure that it is adjacent to the artery, and is also located just above the junction of the wrist and hand.

Is it possible to swim with Mi Band 2

The bracelet's water resistance is certified to IP67. This means that it can withstand short-term immersion to a depth of 1 meter, but only in distilled water.

Mi Band 2 – can it be wet?

Yes. The bracelet can withstand short-term immersion to a shallow depth and easily “survives” short contacts with water - while taking a shower or washing hands.

How to do a Hard Reset on Mi Band 2

There is no official way to do a hard reset. On the Internet you can find several instructions for Mi Band 2 in Russian, which involve the impact of high power currents on the charging contacts. This should not be done, since such a procedure can lead to breakage of the bracelet.

The only way to reset your Mi Band 2 is to unlink it from your Mi account and do a soft reboot.

How to flash Mi Band 2

Instructions for flashing the fitness bracelet are given in the sections “What to do if Mi Band 2 shows questions instead of a name” or “Xiaomi Mi Band 2 - firmware update”.

How to increase brightness on Mi Band 2

The fitness bracelet is equipped with a display made using OLED technology. As a result, there is no way to increase or decrease screen brightness.

Unless the Xiaomi company periodically releases bracelets equipped with a brighter screen than others. However, it is almost impossible to recognize such devices.

Our detailed instructions will help you set up and connect the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet, and also explain how to use it in conjunction with the Mi Fit application.

This elegant sports bracelet is designed for sports enthusiasts and fitness beginners. With it, you can track your heart rate, calories burned, distance traveled, and sleep quality. All data can be synchronized with your phone and analyzed in the mobile application, which will help you plan the time and intensity of exercise.

How to assemble

Assembly is not difficult at all. You need to insert the module into the silicone strap. The company in its instructions recommends doing this from the back of the bracelet. Otherwise, you will stretch the cell, as a result of which the tracker will fall out of it over time during active hand movements.

How to turn it on/off

Mi Band 2 turns on by pressing a single button on the display. Since the tracker understands gestures, to view the data on the screen, you just need to lift it. You need to set up this function through the Mi Fit mobile application (see how to connect).

Go to the Profile menu, select Mi Band 2 from the devices, then move the slider to activate in the “Touch Efficiency” item. In this case, the “View information” item must be activated.

By default, when you unpack the product, the tracker is already enabled. But if this is not the case, you need to charge it. The display will turn on automatically.

There is no way to turn off Mi Band 2. Some users wait until the gadget is completely discharged to turn it off. Remember that completely discharging the gadget leads to a subsequent deterioration in the performance of its battery. Try to charge it without letting it discharge to zero.

How to charge

You can charge the bracelet from your computer using the charger included in the kit. To do this, you need to remove the tracker from the bracelet and install it tightly into a special cell on the cable.

HOW TO CONNECT XIAOMI MI BAND 2 TO AN ANDROID SMARTPHONE OR iPhone

The bracelet itself will not work. It is connected to a PC, tablet, and most often, to a smartphone via the Mi Fit application.

If you are a Windows Phone owner, you need to deal with the Bind Mi Band mobile program. But we will talk about a program that is suitable for Android or iOS smartphones.

Android 4.4 or iOS 7 and newer versions are suitable for operation. There must also be a Bluetooth 4.0 LE module to connect the smartphone with the tracker.

In our instructions we used the Mi Fit 3.0.1 application.

Download Mi Fit app

This is the official application for Mi Band 2. Android device users need to launch Google Play Store and find the program.

iPhone iOS users can get it from the Apple store.

MI FIT APP. SETUP GUIDE

After installing and connecting the Mi Fit software to your phone, you can make the available settings to use the full functionality of the fitness bracelet. Let's look at the main menu items in the software interface.

At the bottom of the main page there are menu tabs Statistics, Activity and Profile and the first tab is open by default.

Important! The bracelet collects all statistics based on your actions: activity, sleep, stress, etc., which it recognizes automatically. There are no settings such as pedometer, time and sleep in the tracker. For more accurate indicators, you can manually start some types of physical activity, which will be discussed below.

STATISTICS

Statistics is a large section where at each point you are provided with detailed information in digital form or in graph format for a certain period of your active activity.

At the top of the page there is a large circle, the so-called status, in the center of which the number of steps you have taken, as well as the distance and calories burned, is displayed. By clicking on it, you will be taken to a detailed overview of this data: statistics for today and the last 30 days.

The Statistics section itself provides the following information.

Information about Mi Band 2

Here the company provides tips when using the gadget: how to insert the tracker into the strap, how to turn it on, how to measure heart rate, notifications about statistics). After reading this item, you can delete it.

At this point the following are corrected:

  • units of measurement
  • status in the notification panel (receive phone notifications when the device is connected)
  • checking for updates
  • feedback
  • about the application
  • log out of your account

Unfortunately, despite the fact that the smart bracelet can distinguish the stages of sleep, the company has deprived its users of waking up using a smart alarm clock. It's not in the tracker. But you can install it using third-party software.

How to measure heart rate on Xiaomi Mi Band 2

There is no automatic heart rate measurement in Mi Band 2. To calculate your heart rate, you need to call up the required menu item using the touch button, and also try to remain motionless for more accurate data. The tracker screen will display the number of beats per minute, but the numbers will not be saved. In this case, you need to use the Mi Fit application and the path Statistics -> Pulse -> Measure. The number of heartbeats can be remembered.

During running and intense training, you will not be able to measure your heart rate. Only in a static position and during sleep, turning on the Sleep Assistant function.

Smartphone camera control

With Mi Band 2, controlling the camera on your smartphone becomes even easier. In order to take a selfie using the gadget button on your hand, you need to use two applications pre-installed on your phone.

The first is with which you need to take pictures, and the second is Mi Band 2 Selfie, which allows the wearable device to use its button as a remote control for the camera of a mobile device.

When starting the latter, you need to enter the MAC, then click the “connect” button. In this case, the “disconnect” button should appear: this means that the connection was successful and the smart bracelet will vibrate.

Open Free Camera in your phone and press the button on Mi Band 2.

If the software does not work for some reason, you need to turn Bluetooth off and on again on your phone. Some users fail to connect their gadget the first time. You may have to do this up to 3-4 times.

Mi Band 2 can also switch music on your smartphone's player. This feature is available thanks to the free Mi Band 2 Func Button application from the Google Play store, which you can download to your mobile gadget.

This software will give access to various additional functions that are activated by pressing the bracelet button once, twice or three times, as well as by turning the wrist. And among these additions there is control of the music player, including switching tracks, pausing, selecting and starting music.

As the program's name suggests, it deals with a variety of functions associated with pressing a button on a wearable device on your wrist. It has a lot of settings related not only to music, but also to the timer, vibration, reset and acceptance of incoming calls, alarm sound and volume control.

The interface is intuitive, the main thing is to take the time to figure out what's what.

Conclusion

For a fitness bracelet with such a small price, it is quite a comprehensive device with the ability to connect to a smartphone to provide more detailed information.

Beautiful, lightweight and comfortable to wear with a huge selection of interchangeable straps in different colors, this bracelet has protection against dust and water IP67, which does not force you to take it off every time you wash your hands or take a shower. And the function of displaying various information on its screen is one of the useful features for users who do not want to miss a single notification from social networks or email, but at the same time do not take their smartphone out of their bag.

We hope that our instructions helped you configure the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 correctly. If you have anything to add, write in the comments. Feedback and experience with this inexpensive but feature-rich device are also welcome.

Hi all. Today I want to present to you my review of a popular and already reviewed bracelet from Xiaomi. I understand that I won’t tell much new, but nevertheless, I hope that the review will help people decide whether they need it or not. The bracelet itself was introduced last year and went on sale sometime in September. Xiaomi is already a fairly well-known brand of various equipment that produces: smartphones, tablets, headphones, chargers, fans, lamps, and soon even cars, and it can definitely compare with LG, Samsung, Sony, Huawei and other “major league” brands. But that's not what this is about. What is this bracelet? A lot. From a smart alarm clock to just an accessory. More details further... (lots of photos!)

Technical characteristics and some main features:
- Pedometer;
- Sleep tracker;
- Smart alarm clock;
- Notification of incoming calls;
- Calorie counter;
- Standby mode up to 30 days;
- Unlocking a smartphone (for owners of devices with MIUIv6 firmware and not only);
- Size: 36x9x14 mm;
- Weight: 5 grams
- Material: plastic, rubber, aluminum;
- Moisture protection: IP67;
- Battery: 41mAh;
- Bluetooth chipset: Dialog BT4LE;
- Connection: Bluetooth 4.0 LE;
- Strap: removable, several colors available to choose from;
- Compatibility: devices based on Android 4.4;
- Indication: 3 single-color LED indicators, vibration signal;

Traditionally, for many Xiaomi products, the bracelet is supplied in a small box made of unpainted thick cardboard; this is a kind of business card for the products of this company.

On the back of the box you can find brief characteristics in Chinese:

Inside you can find: a bracelet, a USB cable-cradle for charging the bracelet from a charger (which is not included in the kit) and instructions in Chinese. Although I still can't understand why the instructions are only in Chinese. The company, after all, is trying to enter the international market. All packaging is designed in a minimalist style.

The bracelet consists of two parts: the module itself and the strap. The straps, in turn, come in different colors (black, yellow, light green and others). I chose the most common one - black. Other colors are more individual, and they are suitable for more summer weather. What’s interesting is that there are very few non-original straps in other colors on sale, which is a pity, because the declared colors may not please everyone (by the way... there’s not even white!).

The instructions, as I already wrote, are only in Chinese. I decided not to waste time on trifles, and photograph it completely; you can find the necessary information even without knowing Chinese:

Instructions for the bracelet

The charger is a short wire with an unusual holder for the capsule itself. Since the battery capacity of the capsule is simply ridiculous (41mAh), it is not recommended to charge chargers of other devices. You need to charge from the laptop's USB port, as the current will be less. I didn’t track the charging time from 0 to 100%, because I simply didn’t let it go to that extent. But in general, it charges very quickly.

During charging, the capsule can show the charge level with its three diodes; in this case, they glow green. The designations are:
1 diode blinks - charge up to 33%,
1 diode lights up - charge 33%
2 diode flashes - charge from 33% to 66%
2 diode lights up - charge 66%
3 diode flashes - charge from 66% to 99%
3 diode lights up - charge 100%

The installed capsule in the wire looks like this:

Let's move on to the strap. It, as you already guessed and read earlier, is rubber. Very elastic, soft, pleasant to the touch. Doesn't stink, doesn't break. In a word - excellent. The bracelet is fastened with a button. The button is made according to the design of the capsule itself and looks decent. Since the holes for this button are slightly smaller than the button itself, it is difficult to fasten the bracelet, and the first or tenth time it is generally very inconvenient. But over time, the holes are developed and the button is fastened as needed (without any hint of random falling out).

On the back of the bracelet there is the inscription Designed by Xiaomi.

There are many holes for fastening, and therefore this strap is perfect for almost any hand. For a brush from 14 to 20-22cm there should be no problems. If you fasten it to the last division, nothing unnecessary will stick out from the bracelet, and this is a really great solution, since on most watch straps the last/penultimate division looks very aesthetically pleasing. For comparison, a fastened bracelet to the penultimate minimum division:

And to the penultimate maximum division:

Finishing the topic of the strap, I’ll show you what it looks like without the capsule itself:

It's time to finish the external inspection. There's not much left anymore.
The capsule has just miniature dimensions, I didn’t measure it exactly (I just don’t need to), but they are approximately 4 by 2 centimeters. The upper part is aluminum, has beautiful beveled edges, and on the very top there are three invisible diodes, which are located exactly in the center.

The back side is plastic, has the MI logo:

On the left side of the capsule there are two contacts for charging (it is this side, with these contacts, that you need to install the capsule in the charging cradle). Well, in the photo it looks more like some kind of caterpillar:

I’ll finish the appearance with a review about the comfort of wearing. There is nothing special to say here, since the bracelet fits perfectly on any hand and does not cause any allergies. Since I wear a watch on my left hand, I often put the bracelet on my right hand and this does not cause any inconvenience. And yes - sleeping with a bracelet on your hand is also not difficult, and since it weighs only 5 grams, sometimes I don’t even notice it and forget about it.

To work with the bracelet, the MI Fit program (formerly MI Band) is used, which I personally downloaded from the w3bsit3-dns.com forum. There is both the original English and translated into Russian versions. The program is free on Google Play, if that's the case. I can’t say anything about iOS, since I don’t have Apple devices. For the program to work properly, you need a smartphone with Bluetooth version 4.0 or higher, Android, in turn, must be no older than 4.3, which of course is depressing, since a sufficient number work on 4.0, or even lower.

When installing the program, you need to allow the program to use a fairly large amount of your personal data, but during the entire existence of the bracelet there have been no complaints that data is being sent somewhere, etc., so there is nothing to worry about. After installing the program and logging into it, it will ask you to agree to the terms of use. Then we are greeted by the initial (for now) screen, where we are asked to log in or register.

I already have a Xiaomi account, but this did not save me, because if I click on “Login”, it will take me to a page where everything is in Chinese and, accordingly, it will be very difficult to understand where and what to write. As a result, with a little effort, I logged into my account through the computer, after which I somehow determined what and where to enter (I don’t even remember how it was). If you click on “Register”, then everything should be in English, although I can’t know for sure, and I don’t know what you will have. To make it a little easier for you to understand, I somehow managed to get the login screen in English. The first input is certainly confusing, I think that Xiaomi could have added not only English, but also Russian a long time ago. Oh well, you only need to do this once anyway.

After you log in/register, they will again ask for permission to use your information and your name.

Next will be a series of questions about your gender, weight, height, age and, quite unusually, you will be asked to set a given goal for the distance traveled for the day. The minimum possible point is 2000 steps (not meters, by the way, but only steps).

After this, you will finally be taken to the main operating screen of this program. But
That’s not all yet, since you still need to link the bracelet itself to your smartphone. To do this, you need to go to the program settings (top right), click settings and then select “pairing”. It takes no more than a minute; to do this, you need to turn on Bluetooth and keep the bracelet near your smartphone.

After this procedure, the program asked me to update the bracelet, apparently new firmware was released (yes, even bracelets have firmware), it took no more than a minute to update.

Well, that's all. We installed, logged in and connected. Now let's look at the basic settings of the program. As I already wrote above, to enter them you need to click on the button on the main screen of the program, which is at the top right. A quick menu will open, and the most interesting item in it is Settings (and Alarm, of course). In the settings you can immediately see that the charge of the bracelet is shown, which I had 27%, it also says that the bracelet was charged 47 days ago. Of course, I don’t know by whom and why, but it was charged before me (maybe at the factory). There are not many settings themselves, I would even say that it is not enough.

I'll go through a few. There is such an item as “Indicator color”, I thought that in this item you can configure the color of the indicator itself (for example, if someone is calling), but this is a little different. This is just a choice of color to indicate the progress of the path traveled. There is also a choice of where to wear the bracelet. I really liked the “On the neck” option... who and most importantly how will wear this bracelet around the neck? It's funny, of course. You can also set up notifications: you need to go to your smartphone’s settings, go to the application manager, find MI Fit and allow the program to display notifications. Then go back to the program settings and to the item. Everything is set up simply, you just need to check the box on the desired application(s) and adjust the duration/number (up to 10) of vibration and blinking (also up to 10), but although the color of the blinking can be selected, it cannot be changed (later it shines that way) same blue as for an incoming call). Yes, I almost forgot. You can also set up a notification on the bracelet and on incoming calls, which occurs with a minimum delay of three seconds. For example, if you receive a call, but your smartphone is far away/can’t be heard, then the bracelet, three seconds after the start of the incoming call, will vibrate 5 times and flash blue 5 times. Neither the color nor the number of vibrations can be changed, which is very strange, and this is what is really missing. In general, this is almost all the settings.

In the same first settings menu, there is a “Fitness” item, where you can enable something like a reader for training. There is a “jump rope” and a “press”.

Well, we can’t help but mention the Alarm Clock. This is a very interesting feature of this bracelet. Again, you can set only 3 alarms (why is it limited again?), for different times. The settings are not very diverse. You can also write about the smart alarm function; after turning on this function, the bracelet should wake you up about half an hour before the set time, immediately after the last “deep sleep” phase. Overall the function is useless. And the rest of the alarm settings can be seen below in the first two screenshots. The third screenshot is something like a tracker, for which you must always turn on GPS, i.e. The meaning of this thing is not clear, because it is better to install a separate application for this.

Finally, about the settings, it is possible to view information about the bracelet: firmware, program version, creators, etc.

So. We've sorted out the functionality and settings, all that remains is to demonstrate the operation of the device. I haven’t yet written that there are two main desktops - the first is Day, the second is Night. Both tables have a second screen - statistics (top left). In the case of “Day”, on the first screen you can see the time of activity (for example, from 8:00 you were walking somewhere, at 9:00 you came and stopped/sat down, this will be recorded in detailed statistics: 8:00-9:00 walk 4570 steps 3.8km), so after a long day it will be interesting to look at these statistics. On the second screen you can look at the total number of steps, distance and calories burned (but this is pure mathematics, I am sure that this is some percentage of the number of steps and the distance/time traveled). In the case of “Night”, the first screen shows the total sleep time, the start and end time of sleep, and the time in the deep sleep phase. On the second screen, the statistics are similar, but show something slightly different, namely the phases of deep sleep. I have no idea how it works, how it reads these indicators. And yes, in order for the information in the program to be updated after entering it, synchronization takes place, usually up to 30 seconds (sometimes a little longer). In the screenshot below you can see the second screens of two tables the next day after receipt (already 24% charged).

To summarize, we can highlight the following:

The bracelet is very comfortable
+ Well made
+ Good price compared to similar products
+ Presence of vibration
+ Availability of alarm clock
+ Holds a charge for a long time

Almost nowhere you can adjust the number of vibrations
- Almost nowhere you can adjust the number of blinks
- Almost nowhere you can adjust the color of blinking
- Little functionality
- Initially English + Chinese interface (and if the first can be fixed, then the second, during registration, cannot)

As you can see, the main problem with this device is functionality. It really is weak, although all this could be solved at the software level, I don’t understand what the problem is. Therefore, now the bracelet fully corresponds to its price, and is inferior to more expensive analogues. Although I can't recommend this bracelet enough, it does have features that are really worthwhile (just look at the incoming call notification).

The bracelet was provided specifically for review.

Thank you all for your attention and good luck to everyone.

P.S. I’ve had the bracelet for more than a week now, there are more detailed statistics (in the screenshots above there are only two days there), which I can also post here at your request. If you missed something, ask.

I'm planning to buy +10 Add to favorites I liked the review +9
