Improving the sound on the tablet with the engineering menu. Android A to Z: Increase the maximum volume on any Android device. Other sound enhancement software

If you are not satisfied with the volume of your device, then first you need to make sure that the sound level is at the maximum. To evaluate the volume level, select the "Sound" section in the "Settings" section, and in it - "Volume". The menu allows you to customize the speaker settings based on your needs. Adjust the volume for calls and SMS, when playing songs and videos, and when you turn on the alarm. If you have the maximum volume, and you want to increase it anyway, then use the tips below.

Additional means to increase the volume

If the user is not satisfied with the sound level preset by the developer, then he begins to think about how to increase the volume on Android using special programs and applications. Manufacturers of smartphones and tablets often leave a "headroom" of sound, which can be unleashed through the following methods:

  • Amplification of sound through the engineering menu;
  • Increase the volume level with additional programs (for example, Volume +).

Both methods can lead to a failure of sound settings on Android, as well as the appearance of various kinds of system errors, so it is recommended to start these methods only after creating a backup file (backup) from which you can return to the previous configuration.

Increasing the sound level using the engineering menu

To figure out how you can increase the preset volume of the external speaker of devices on Android, first of all, you need. This method is provided only for some smartphones and tablets with the possibility of incoming and outgoing calls via mobile networks. To increase the volume of the Android sound through the engineering menu, use the following algorithm:

Increase the volume with third-party software

Volume + is a kind of sound booster for Android. You can download it in the Play Market. With this program, you can increase your volume without resorting to such risky things as the Android engineering menu. After downloading and installing, run the program, and then configure its configuration:

This sound booster for Android has other parameters, experimenting with which you can adjust the ideal sound characteristics of an external speaker.

Other sound enhancement software

In addition to Volume +, there are also other programs with which you can increase the sound volume. Among the most popular are:

  • Music Volume EQ;
  • Volume Booster;
  • "Music amplifier + equalizer";
  • Easy Bass Booster;
  • Audio Manager Pro;
  • Volume Ace and others.

Many of these apps also include an equalizer, which can not only boost the volume, but also significantly affect the sound quality of Android.

Many smartphone users need to increase the sound level on the device. This may be due to the phone's maximum volume being too low, or to some kind of breakdown. In this article, we will look at the main methods for making all kinds of manipulations over the sound of your gadget.

In total, there are three main methods for manipulating the sound level of a smartphone, there is one more, but it is not applicable to all devices. In any case, each user will find a suitable option for himself.

Method 1: Standard sound increase

This method is known to all telephone users. It consists in using the hardware volume up and down buttons. As a rule, they are located on the side panel of a mobile device.

When you press one of these buttons, a characteristic menu for changing the sound level will appear at the top of the phone screen.

As you know, the sound of smartphones is divided into several categories: calls, multimedia and alarm clock. Pressing the hardware buttons changes the type of sound that is currently being used. In other words, if any video is played, the media sound will change.

It is also possible to adjust all types of sound. To do this, while increasing the volume level, click on the special arrow - as a result, a full list of sounds will open.

To change the sound levels, move the sliders around the screen using normal taps.

Method 2: Settings

If there is a breakdown of the hardware buttons for adjusting the volume level, you can perform the same actions described above using the settings. To do this, follow the algorithm:

Method 3: special applications

There are cases when it is impossible to use the first methods or they are not suitable. This applies to situations where the user is not satisfied with the maximum sound level that can be achieved in this way. Then third-party software comes to the rescue, in a fairly wide range presented in the open spaces of the Play Market.

Some manufacturers have such programs built into the standard equipment of the device. Therefore, it is not always necessary to download them. Directly in this article, as an example, we will consider the process of increasing the sound level using the free Volume Booster GOODEV application.

Method 3: Engineering menu

Not many people know that almost every smartphone has a secret menu that allows you to perform some manipulations on the mobile device, including setting the sound. It is called engineering and was created for developers with the goal of finalizing the device.

  1. First you need to get into this menu. Open the phone number dial and enter the appropriate code. This combination is different for devices from different manufacturers.
  2. Manufacturer Codes

  3. After selecting the correct code, the engineering menu will open. Use swipes to go to the section Hardware Testing and tap on the item "Audio".
  4. Be careful when working in the engineering menu! Any incorrect setting can seriously affect the performance of your device for the worse. Therefore, try to adhere to the algorithm below as much as possible.

  5. There are several sound modes in this section, and each is configurable:
    • Normal Mode - normal sound playback mode without using headphones or anything else;
    • Headset Mode - operating mode with connected headphones;
    • LoudSpeaker Mode - speakerphone;
    • Headset_LoudSpeaker Mode - speakerphone with headphones;
    • Speech Enhancement - conversation mode with the interlocutor.
  6. Go to the settings of the required mode. In the points marked in the screenshot, you can increase the current volume level, as well as the maximum allowable one.

Method 4: Install the patch

For many smartphones, enthusiasts have developed special patches, the installation of which allows both to improve the quality of the reproduced sound, and simply to increase the playback volume. However, such patches are not so easy to find and install, so inexperienced users should better not tackle this business at all.

The optimum sound volume allows you to hear an important call, watch a movie or listen to music with pleasure. You can adjust the sound on Android separately for applications, notifications, calls and players. The user has several ways to increase the volume, including through the engineering menu - they are described below.

On smartphones and tablets running Android, you can adjust the sound using the volume key. The key is a "rocker" - pressing up increases the volume, and clicking down - decreases it. If an application or a movie is open at the moment of pressing the key, the volume of the media will change, and if the desktop - the volume of calls.

If the sound spontaneously switches to "Silent", check your smartphone for viruses. Uninstall applications that have access to volume control and assess the situation. Also check if the "Ring louder in your pocket" mode is enabled. To do this, go to the settings, select "Calls - Call louder in your pocket". Disable the function if necessary.

You can adjust the sound parameters in the standard settings of your smartphone or tablet:

  1. Go to "Settings" and select "Sound".
  2. Select "Volume".
  3. Use the sliders to adjust the volume values for each type of sound - notifications, calls, applications.

It happens that the manufacturer of an Android smartphone or tablet has not adjusted the sound volume, it is not enough in a noisy place. And then the consumer decides to delve into the settings himself, explore all the possibilities to increase the sound. This is what will be discussed. To increase the volume, you can use the standard settings of the device or the engineering menu

Adjusting the volume on an Android device via basic settings

Standard audio controls in Android

To adjust the volume of the ringing signal or during music playback, the sound is regulated by the "arrows" - two buttons on the side.

The second way is the system sound settings. Give the command "Settings - Sound". Set up the ringtone, adjust the volume in the Android system, set up the screen tones - everything is basic here.

How to get to the engineering menu to adjust the ringtone volume on the phone

An engineering menu is available for “gourmet-connoisseurs” of high-quality sound. Please do the following.

A list of commands for entering the engineering menu for different brands of smartphones and tablets is attached.

After typing the command, the engineering menu will open.

It also configures the sound parameters on the device.

Configuring all sound parameters for headphones or speakers using the engineering menu

So, open the Audio submenu in the Android engineering menu.

We have to work with him.

Sound submenu of the Android engineering menu

Before going into the settings, check yourself on the knowledge of the parameters from the following list.

  • Normal Mode - normal mode, without connecting any accessories (headphones, etc.).
  • Headset Mode - external acoustics are connected to the smartphone or tablet (amplifier with speakers or headphones).
  • LoudSpeaker Mode - normal mode, hands-free operation.
  • Headset-LoudSpeaker Mode - speakerphone during a telephone conversation with connected external acoustics.
  • Speech Enhancement - a telephone conversation without connecting external acoustics.
  • Speech Logger and Audio Logger are system drivers that provide mobile phone call recording. Adjusting them will affect the quality of the recorded sound. To record telephone conversations, it is better to use third-party programs for Android: "Call Recorder", "Call Recorder", "Total Recall CR", etc. - and not "trick" with these parameters.
  • Debug info - collection of information about debugging sound parameters. Valuable for developers, but useless for the consumer.

Fine tuning for tablet or smartphone

By setting specific values, you can adjust the sound on your smartphone or tablet to your preference: turn it down to quiet or turn it up to the maximum value. Enter any of the above modes and set your preferred values.

For example, the Normal Mode is taken - playing music or video in the waiting mode of incoming calls without external acoustics. Outgoing calls are not made. Please do the following.

  1. Enter the submenu of this mode - a screen with fields for entering values will be displayed.
  2. Select the type of Android sound driver you are using (without it, the gadget would be "dumb").

    Here SIP is Internet calls, Mic is microphone setting, SPH (1/2) is earpiece speakers, Sid is repetition of oneself in the speaker instead of the interlocutor, Media is the sound of music and movies from your library, Ring is ringing melodies and sound notifications. , FMR - radio (if your device has an FM radio).

  3. After choosing the type of sound setting, select the levels (they are regulated by the volume buttons).
  4. Set a different numerical value for each level (0–255 units) before moving on to the next. Press the Set key to save.
  5. Pay particular attention to the maximum volume setting. It is the same for all volume levels. Do not enter different maximum values at different levels - these settings will simply not be saved.
  6. Configure each parameter in the same way, go through all the available ones.

Ready! The new settings will take effect when you exit the engineering menu and restart your smartphone or tablet.

Attention! Do not set the volume at which the speakers, headphones, or the built-in mini-speaker will produce a “wheezing” or “choking” sound.

The engineering menu is now complete. To find out in more detail - watch this video on setting up sound in the engineering menu.

How to change the volume using third-party apps

When adjusting the sound on a gadget using third-party Android programs, do not immediately set the maximum volume - you can "catch" a software glitch or damage one of the device's speakers with too loud sound.

How to adjust the sound in the speakers through the Volume + program

The app is free.

  1. Download, install and run the Volume + app
  2. In the Volume + app settings, select Speaker Settings or Headset Settings.
  3. Turn on the Virtual Room Effect and Speaker Modifications.
  4. Set the sound level (Volume Level option), starting with a gain of one unit.
  5. When it comes to enhancing the sound of music and video, go to the submenu for Bass Enhance and Virtual Room effects. Set the sound levels in the same way. Play a song from your library to experience the difference in sound with the new settings.

Important! Do not turn on the maximum values right away - an electronic chip acting as a sound card or the speaker of a smartphone or tablet being tested may simply burn out. Build up the gain gradually. This applies to all audio amplification apps on Android gadgets.

Congratulations! You have tuned the optimal sound for your gadget. The work with the Volume + application is completed.

Working with sound in the Volume Booster + app

The Volume Booster Plus app will be simpler. It analyzes the sound settings previously made using the engineering menu and tries to improve them. The application has only a Boost button, by pressing which the improvement algorithm is launched, which is embedded in this program.

Unfortunately, Volume Booster Plus does not have advanced settings - as in the same Volume +. At least the main menu is missing. The developer warns that the sound quality may not be up to par, and the volume may be too high.

Other Apps for Optimizing Sound on Android Gadgets

There are more than a dozen of them - these are Android applications Bass Volume Booster, AudioManager Pro, Volume Ace, "Equalizer + Music Booster", etc.

Using other methods to add sound to the device

Think, why do you need such a loud sound on your gadget? Maybe it's better to get good wireless headphones for two? Or connect an FM modulator to the gadget - and get mobile phones with a radio function? None of the best smartphone or tablet can replace external acoustics for you - car or home speakers, as well as a modern music center or radio tape recorder "in full swing".

  • In Chinese stores (for example, AliExpress), a huge number of models of flat and compact speakers are sold. All of them are equipped with an internal amplifier with a power of up to several watts (active speakers).
  • An external sound card with a high-quality amplifier and equalizer consumes a lot of power. If power comes from microUSB on a smartphone or tablet (there are some), the battery will "run out" very quickly. A separate power supply is required.
  • Wireless solutions based on external amplifiers. Sound is usually transmitted over Bluetooth. And you also need external (additional) power.
  • Special cases and stands capable of re-reflecting sound - they create a feeling of higher volume, according to the laws of physics of sound signals.

Is it possible to remove the volume limitation

It depends on how you count. If you need to expose the sound, say 25% more, no problem. Apps from PlayMarket and the capabilities of the engineering menu will provide this. Manufacturers, being reinsured, set the maximum volume in secret (engineering) settings, somewhat lower than the audio device and / or speakers can “pull” - so that buyers complain less about factory defects, because modern acoustics should neither "wheeze" or "choke" ...

Even if you try to infinitely “twist” the volume by acquiring or creating such an Android application, the “wheezing” of overmodulation will accumulate, overlap each other and the sound will turn into a barely discernible and useless noise, from which you are unlikely to hear anything. Everything is good in moderation. The audio device, whatever it is, will not allow you to exceed the power for which it is designed (according to the law of energy sufficiency). Do not try to "deceive nature" - in the worst case, you will simply "burn" it. This is a very rare case when software settings can physically ruin your "friend". A smartphone or tablet, alas, itself is still too weak in front of your overestimated "sound appetite".

In general, amplify the sound within the limits that are given to you by the official Google applications, the Android engineering menu, external acoustics and special accessories.

Video: Total Volume App to Optimize Sound on Android

Amplifying sound on Android smartphones and tablets is not a completely useless task. Somewhat higher than in the beginning, the volume, competently and wisely adjusted, will bring additional convenience. If you are listening to music or watching a movie on a gadget with headphones, fine-tuning the sound will also help: it will be much more pleasant. Have a great time!
