It is customary to hang everything that is possible in the sidebar. As long as the place is not empty. You can very easily check if you need widgets in the sidebar (groups in social networks, affiliate banners).

Go to Yandex Metrica, select a report Click Map(metric→ maps→ click map) or Link map. We look at whether visitors click on affiliate widgets hanging in the sidebar. We check the link map of the main page and the map of visited articles.

I don’t know about you, I have 45% mobile traffic. These people do not see any widgets, and extra external links from the main page of the site are definitely not needed.

3 – Blog Loading Speed

The most important indicator in our time is the speed of loading a site on mobile and on a computer. If the speed for a mobile phone is low, then search engines will underestimate the resource in the search.

Perhaps some plugin gives the load. You need to disable all plugins and see what the speed will be. Then turn on the plugins one by one and see what creates the load.

4 - Pictures

Anya has a loaded image width of 1000. I don’t know how it is on other devices, but on my laptop I see a picture with a width of 650.

Pictures weigh 300-450 Kb. This also affects the download speed. I try to shrink my pictures as much as possible. 100-200 kb maximum.

If the picture is only partially visible on all monitors, you can optimize old pictures using the plugin WWWW Image Optimizer. Or at least load new ones with less weight and size.

Plus, write the names of the photos in Latin. Titles must match the article. Character set is not the best idea.

It is advisable to prescribe title, alt and a description for each picture. For example, if the article is about Paris, then the picture is called "Paris-foto", and not fornwp1994.jpg

5 - Post publication date

My blog does not show the date of publication, but the date of the last updates. Thus, when I supplement an article, a person sees a new date in a Google search.

Psychologically, a user is more likely to click on an article written in 2016 than one written in 2012. In this way, we give old articles shine and increase their attractiveness. Removed posting dates.

I finalized old articles, updated prices, added information on the topic. Be sure to add a few new paragraphs to the article (at least 100-200 words), and not just change the date so that the search engines understand that the article has changed.

    First steps

    The first thing I started promotion with was adding the site to the most popular search engines - Yandex, Google. You can immediately forget about other search engines, because only Yandex and Google are sources of Russian-language traffic in 90% of cases.
