As you can see, the search is quite easy to use, you can search by word or phrase, as well as the location of that word or phrase. If you are looking for a cooking recipe, for example, it is better to search for the word ‘Danish’ if you know that you don’t have many recipes in Danish, because the word ‘potato’ will bring up all the recipes where potatoes are used. And the more accurately you fill out the recipe itself, the easier it will be to find it later.

The biggest advantage of this program is the ability to add photos to recipes. So, create a “New Recipe” and go to the “Editing” tab.

As you can see, the “Editing” tab has subsections: “Description”, “Ingredients”, “Cooking” and “Note”. The entire recipe does not have to be divided into subsections; you can put everything in one. This will not affect the appearance of the recipe. This breakdown is needed for the “Search” function, and the program itself will write these headings in the recipe itself. If you paste the entire recipe text into the first tab, you will have to type the headings manually.

We type the name and description of the recipe or copy it if there is a description in electronic form (for example, you found a recipe on the Internet and want to save it so you can try it or just not forget). By the way, the text of the recipe can be edited: change the font, its size and color, highlight it in bold, with a cursor or underline, align it to the edges or in the middle, and make indents. By the way, such editing can be done at any time, even after saving the file.

Select the folder where the photo is located, select the photo you want to insert, and click “Open”. A photo or image can be reduced or enlarged in size. You need to click on the photo itself, dots will appear along the edges of the photo, by pulling which you can change the image size:

Photos can also be moved to another location using the “drag and drop” method described above. If you want to save an image from the Internet, then you will first have to save it somewhere on your hard drive and only then insert it into the recipe. When a photo is included in a recipe, it does not need to be stored separately. You can always remove it if necessary. You need to right-click on the photo, select “Save image to file...” in the window that appears, select where you want to save it, and save.

I will not describe absolutely all the functions and capabilities of the program. It's really simple and easy to use. Explore all menus to understand which features you need to use. I just want to draw your attention to two more points. The program has a template that can be customized. Settings include background color, font size and color. You can find it through the menu: “Tools” => “Settings”, or by pressing F9. Find the “Template Settings” tab, edit and save. The developer’s website – www.softbis.narod.ru – claims that it is shareware and they ask for 550 Russian rubles for it. Although, when installing the trial version, I still did not understand what its limitations were and where I needed to enter the registration key.

It is worth noting that the program is not simple, and is not 100% adapted to an unskilled user. To work with it, you must have skills in supporting and maintaining databases. At the same time, in production it will definitely help optimize a number of business processes.

The database contains more than 12,000 recipes. With its help, you can automatically create costing cards, menus, and reflect the movements of products in the warehouse. It also provides sorting by several fields, filters, grouping, and search. Any database tables can be exported to common data formats or, conversely, data can be imported into the database from various sources.

All these bells and whistles confirm one thesis - the Culinary 9.8 program is not suitable for household use.

A very confusing interface, inconvenient navigation, lack of Russian translation, the program as a whole is not intuitive. As they say, you can’t do without a hundred grams! One good thing is that the program is distributed free of charge.
