Program for removing passwords from Windows 7. Retrieving all passwords (web browsers, email programs, etc.) in Windows and Linux

Let's describe the problem

Initial conditions:

  • computer, laptop with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8
  • the built-in user Administrator is disabled or the password is also forgotten
  • all users on the Windows login screen are password protected and you don't know a single one
  • user with forgotten password - a regular local account, not Windows LiveID (with mail)

If any of the above do not match, the recovery process may be different.

Problem solving process

What is needed:

  • ability to use torrent networks
  • be able to burn an ISO image to disk/USB
  • the disc itself (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW...) or any blank USB flash drive of any capacity
  • changing the computer boot order

The method and programs indicated below are supplied “as is” - AS IS, they are not responsible for POSSIBLE damage and inoperability. The author has used this method on several computers and so far there have been no problems.

1. Download BootPass

BootPass - boot disk (Windows 7PE x86).

The disk contains full-featured programs for resetting and editing Windows passwords, programs for removing ransomware banners

Like most bootable disks, they are downloaded in ISO format.

Because a disk image in ISO format is already a standard and can be written by any program, even using standard Windows 8 tools.

Download BootPass from a torrent network (for example, http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4487280).

You can download not all files, but only the necessary ones - the BootPass.iso file itself.

The rest are optional:

  • Iso-Burner.exe is a very small program (646KB) for burning an ISO image to disk.
  • Rufus.exe or WiNTBootic.exe to burn ISO image to USB
  • text files - for information and instructions

2. Burn BootPass.iso to disk

Now we burn the downloaded BootPass.iso image to a CD-RW optical disk or USB.

There are many recording options, we will show only 3:

2.1 Using standard Windows 8 tools

In Windows 8 this is very easy to do. Right-click to open the context menu and select “Burn disk image.”

Don't forget to insert a blank disc.

2.2 ISO-Burner

If you downloaded this program as part of a torrent, then when you launch it, the Active@ ISO Burner window will appear. There are only 2 fields - specify the path to the ISO image, select a CD-RW or DVD-RW recording device. Click "Burn ISO".

2.3 used to UltraISO

Because it can write both simple files and ISO images to optical discs and to USB, HDD, it can also create boot disks itself and save in ISO format. In general, an advanced program.

You can download it from torrents, from the official website, from our website.

P.S. UltraISO is a shareware product, you need to buy it later if you like it. By the way, you can check whether a recorded disc will open in Explorer or not.

3. Change the computer boot order

If your boot order is already set to CD-ROM (DVD-ROM) first, or you know how, feel free to skip this step.

There are 2 ways to change the boot order of your computer:

3.1 BIOS

The BIOS of any computer has options for selecting the sequence for booting the system. If these options are not automatically displayed when you turn on the computer, press the F2 or Del buttons - they may differ depending on the model and build of your BIOS.

In the BIOS you need to go to the BOOT section and in Boot Sequence select CD/DVD as the first boot device.

Save the settings and exit (SAVE AND EXIT)

3.2 without BIOS

Most modern computers have the ability to assign a boot order without entering the BIOS. To do this, use the quick boot menu, which is called up by pressing a special key immediately after turning on the computer (for example, F10, F12 or even F8 - depending on the motherboard model).

Usually, when loading, the BIOS itself prompts you on the screen which key you need to press.

P.S. The disc must be inserted into the drive.

We have a variety of programs to choose from that reset Windows passwords.

Password Reset v3.0 is enough for us. If it doesn't work, you can try others.

  • Select the user with the forgotten password and click OK. The program asks if you are sure of your desires, the answer is YES! (OK)
  • Next it will ask whether to repeat (OK) or reboot (Reboot) the computer?
  • We repeat how many users need to clear passwords and reboot the computer.
  • Confirm reboot @Yes
  • Remove the disk from the drive and click OK

5. Check

As soon as Windows boots, it will ask which user to select. Windows will not ask you for a password.

If all is well, don't forget to set a new password for your user.

P.S. In your password, use capital letters, numbers, and even better, special characters - *-+-=/?...

P.P.S. You can use phrases (rarely used) written on the English keyboard as a password. For example, "Saint Bagheera1002" -> "Cdznfz

6. What to do if

failed to reset Windows password

Go to step 4 and try another program.

Windows stopped loading

Remove all drives and USB. In the BIOS, set to boot from the HDD/SATA/SSD hard drive. As a last resort, run Windows recovery or call a wizard.

everything went wrong

Call a technician and clearly explain the problem.

Passwords are like underwear. They should be changed frequently (though not every day). Never share them with other people. Don't show them to anyone (no reminder stickers!). And they should be purely intimate. Sorry, I meant to say that they should be shrouded in mystery. In other words, your password should be completely incomprehensible to others. Advice pcmag.ru
Dear visitor, if you came to this page with the goal of finding a way to harm your neighbor, then most likely nothing will stop you anyway. But, I still want to remind you that there are certain norms of behavior, formed over millennia, without following which, humanity would turn into a herd of freaks. And, in addition, there is also a criminal code.
All programs, links to which I have posted here, are freely distributed free software, the ethical and legal consequences of its use are entirely on your conscience.

Most antivirus programs identify these programs as malicious due to their specific behavior, therefore, before using them, you must add them to the antivirus exceptions (or disable the antivirus altogether). Thanks to this page, my site was listed as unsafe for some time according to Symantec. It's good that search engines don't agree with him. What can you do, there were times when the utilities of the package were also considered viruses, and today they are available for download from the official Microsoft website. There are NO viruses here. If you are prompted for a password when opening an archive, use - novirus

Download (less than 40 kb, archive is password protected novirus)

SniffPass listens to traffic on the selected network interface, and intercepts passwords, displaying them in the main program window. It is possible to intercept passwords for the POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, FTP, HTTP protocols (basic authentication passwords). Can be used to recover forgotten passwords for email, FTP resources and websites.

Asterisk Logger v1.02 (astlog.exe) Download (less than 26 kb, archive is password protected novirus)

WebBrowserPassView- a single utility for recovering passwords stored in Internet browsers Internet Explorer (Version 4.0 - 9.0), Mozilla Firefox (all versions), Google Chrome, and Opera. The utility allows you to recover forgotten passwords for sites, including the popular Vkontakte.ru (vk.com) Odnoklassniki, Facebook, Yahoo, Google, GMail, in cases where the password was remembered by the browser itself. Recovered passwords can be saved in text/html/csv/xml format using the "Save Selected Items" menu item (Ctrl+S key combination).

In the future, this program may well become a replacement for the entire family of utilities for recovering passwords in browsers. From version to version WebBrowserPssview is gaining more and more functionality and capabilities.

MessenPass v1.12 (mspass.exe) Download (less than 44 kb, archive is password protected novirus)

Mail PassView is a small utility for recovering passwords and some other account data stored in the following client software:

  • Outlook Express

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 (POP3 and SMTP accounts only)

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002/2003/2007/2010 (POP3, IMAP, HTTP, SMTP account data only)

  • Windows Mail

  • Windows Live Mail

  • IncrediMail

  • Eudora

  • Netscape 6.x/7.x (unless the password is encrypted with master password)

  • Group Mail Free

  • Yahoo! Mail - if the password was saved in the Yahoo! Messenger.

  • Hotmail/MSN mail - if the password was saved in the MSN/Windows/Live Messenger application.

  • Gmail - if the password was saved in the Gmail Notifier, Google Desktop, Google Talk applications.
  • Protected Storage PassView v1.63 (pspv.exe) Download (less than 34 kb, archive is password protected novirus)

Allows you to retrieve passwords stored in the registry section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policy\Secrets
This section may contain remote access passwords (VPN connections), a password for automatic login (Autologon) and some other system keys and passwords. Can be used without installation in Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7. Allows you to obtain passwords from another Windows operating system using the "File" - "Advanced Options" menu or using the /external switch on the command line:

LSASecretsView.exe /external g:\windows- Where g:\windows- this is the system directory of the Windows OS, the passwords of which will be displayed.

The results of LSASecretsView can serve as an additional source of information when recovering lost passwords or keys.

In addition to this material, it contains a short list of password recovery programs with a description and links to download current versions from the developer’s website.

In addition to password recovery programs, the developer’s website has many free utilities to help the system administrator, most of which are combined into a convenient package, which is a kind of shell for running programs grouped into categories:

Plastic bag NirLuauncher does not require installation and can be used as portable software, launched, for example, from a flash drive and running under Windows 2000/XP/Windows7/Windows8 operating systems. can also be used in Windows PE and diagnostic products based on Windows PE (ERD Commander). In addition to password recovery programs, the package includes utilities for network monitoring, command line extensions, optimization and research of the system, browsers, desktop, etc. It is possible to Russify the package. You can download it from the download page. Chapter Translation Packs contains links to download support files for more than a dozen different languages, including Russian. As a nice addition, it is possible to add the Nirlauncher shell, Sysinternals Suite, Joeware Free Tools and free programs from Piriform (CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy) to the environment.

Even if you don't intend to collect passwords on other people's computers, programs like LaZagne are a very good way to think about how vulnerable our privacy is when our computers are not under our control: at airports, when they are checked in as luggage, in repair shops, after sales. etc.

And if you are going to hack other people’s passwords, then I would like to draw your attention to the fact that LaZagne is a command line utility, and you can come up with various interesting options for its hidden use on machines remote for you to extract target passwords...

    Password recovery programs

I think you already understand what I will talk about LaZagne.

As good alternatives, you can recall programs from:, and others. The programs have quite self-explanatory names (the first retrieves passwords from web browsers, the second from email clients, the third from instant messaging clients).

These are absolutely free programs, without advertising and garbage, many of them have a command line interface, and they are very undemanding of resources. But they only work on Windows and are closed source. If the program is closed source, then this leaves room for thought: it simply extracts passwords, or it extracts passwords AND transfers them to whoever needs them...

LaZagne is open source and written in Python 2, i.e. If you know how to set up the Python runtime and install the necessary dependencies, you can run source scripts directly (as you can do on Linux). For those who don’t know how/don’t want to figure it out, executable files have been collected that also contain all the necessary dependencies.

Speaking of Linux. The version for this OS differs from the version for Windows in that it supports fewer programs for which it can recover passwords.

By the way: who knows other similar functional open source programs - write about them in the comments, it will be interesting to see them.

Instructions for using LaZagne on Windows

The program is very easy to use. If you want to use the ready-made executable file, then go to the releases page: https://github.com/AlessandroZ/LaZagne/releases and select the latest version for Windows (file Windows.zip).

Unzip the downloaded file. Open Command Prompt in Windows ( Win+x) and select there " Command line" or " Command Line (Administrator)" In theory, as described in the official documentation, when the program is launched as an administrator, it should find passwords for all users, plus the Wi-Fi password. On the contrary, on the command line as an administrator, the program does not work at all (it does not find anything). You may need to run it in a different way, for example:

    C:\> runas /user: \administrator cmd

    C:\> runas /user: \cmd

But it didn’t work out for me either (since my account doesn’t have a password, but for such a launch it must have a password). I didn’t bother with this too much, but simply ran it on the command line as a regular user. Let's go straight to the place where it worked for me)))

You can drag the executable file into the command line window that opens (so as not to type its location by hand). Add space after space all so that it looks something like this:

    Here's my result:

    LaZagne.exe all -oN

The file is saved not relative to the location of the running program, but relative to the current working directory (the one visible at the command line prompt). For example, in my case this is C:\Users\Alex\, which means the file with the found passwords is saved in C:\Users\Alex\results\

You can also use the option -oJ to save in Json format or option -oA- to save in two formats at once. By the way, for me, it saves normally in Json, but when I choose to save as plain text, only a few passwords are saved.

If you also have problems with this, then you can use a banal output redirection:

    LaZagne.exe all > logons.txt

If you want to search for passwords only for browsers:

    LaZagne.exe browsers

You can even run a search only for certain browsers, for example Firefox:

    LaZagne.exe browsers -f

For a complete list of available options and supported software, see the program help.

    Conclusion

LaZagne is very easy to use and does a very good job of finding passwords on your computer. The program continues to actively develop and new scripts are regularly added that allow you to search and recover passwords for an even larger number of programs.

You can protect yourself to some extent from this program if, for example, you use a master password for browsers (that support it).

You should always remember about such programs if you use public computers (for example, in an Internet cafe) or if your computer falls out of your possession for at least some time (when checked in as luggage, returned for repair, or sold).

When selling, you should not rely on simply removing or formatting the hard drive. Forensic tools (like Autopsy) are capable of recovering data. By the way, Autopsy, in addition to passwords, will be able to show history, web browser cookies, sites visited, information about the time the computer was used (generated by many factors) and much more.

Windows 7 password reset program. Quite often it happens that after setting a password for an account, the user forgets the information he needs. It seems that this problem cannot be solved, because how can you work with a computer without having access to it?

As a rule, most people contact service centers or reinstall the operating system. Although the first method of solving the problem incurs financial costs, it is still safer, since as a result of replacing the system, you can lose important information. However, you can do without these drastic methods.

There are several ways in which you can reset your Windows 7 password:

    1) by making changes to the register;
    2) using system file substitution. This method is not recommended, especially if inexperienced users do it.
    3) using a password reset program.

The most common and most effective is the last method.

Windows 7 password reset program: features of use

To get started, you need to download the Windows 7 password reset program to your computer. This can be done even when the operating system is offline.

The first thing to do after this is to create a boot disk. This process is not complicated enough. After unpacking the downloaded program, the user receives an ISO image. Next, insert the drive and select the “Burn disc from image” command. As a result, several files appear on the disk.

In addition to the disk, you can use a flash drive for work.

How to create a bootable flash drive?

Resetting a password from an operating system using a flash drive is somewhat more difficult. First of all, you need to unpack the downloaded archive with the program into the root folder of the flash drive. If there is any other information on the removable media, it does not matter.

Now let's move on to the process of turning a regular flash drive into a bootable one. Open the command line. To do this, you can use the Win+R key combination, enter the command F:syslinux.exe –ma F.

In place F we indicate the letter of the partition with removable media. Press the “Enter” key. If after this a window notifying you of an error does not appear, the actions were performed correctly and you can proceed to the next step. Otherwise, you will need to repeat the steps again.

    Final stage of action

Once the bootable media has been created, you need to download the folders on it to your computer. To do this, you need to enter the POST BIOS and press the F8 key. As a result, a window will appear in front of the user in which you need to indicate the boot media to be used.

In some computer models, other key combinations are possible, therefore, before starting work, you should read the instructions for the equipment.

When the Windows 7 password reset program has loaded, you need to select the partition with the installed operating system and follow the further instructions of the program. As a rule, for the utility to work, it is enough to press the Enter key from time to time.

In the event that it becomes necessary to make certain changes, you must shut down Windows. When the program is finished, the user gains access to the data.

The utility may prompt you to remember your password. It is not recommended to do this, as forgetting the old password and entering incorrect data in the drain can ruin all the work done.

Thus, you don’t have to worry that if you lose your password information, access to your computer and all the information on it will be restricted forever.

Browsers, email clients and other programs often offer to save passwords. This is very convenient: I saved it and forgot, sometimes in the literal sense of the word. But what if you need to change your browser, reinstall the system, or simply log in from a different computer? It turns out that browsers store passwords very unreliably. There are a lot of recovery programs, and of course, on someone else’s machine they will work no worse than on yours.

    Browsers

The browser often stores dozens or even hundreds of passwords. It’s clear that if you don’t use one password for all occasions (and this is not the best idea), remembering passwords for all sites and forums can be problematic.

If you have forgotten an important password and don’t want to rack your brains, download and install the WebBrowserPassView program. You will be surprised: it will easily extract passwords from Internet Explorer, Edge, Chrome, Opera, Safari, Firefox and Yandex Browser, and the latest versions are supported. Personally, I tested this program with IE, Firefox, Chrome and Opera - in no case did it fail.

Before running WebBrowserPassView, it is advisable to disable your antivirus, as some will complain that it is malware. The recovery result is shown in the screenshot. Don't blame me, but I covered up the Password column and the User Name part.

Select the passwords you want to remember and run the command File - Save Selected Items. The selected passwords will be saved to a plain text file in the following format:

===================================================== URL: website Web Browser: Firefox 32+ User Name: user Password: password Password Strength: Very Strong User Name Field: Password Field: Created Time: 07/09/2015 21:15:16 Modified Time: 07/09/2015 21:15:16 =====================================================

And of course, the program is suitable for retrieving passwords on someone else’s machine. If you have local access or remote access - via RDP or TeamViewer, then getting passwords will be easy.
