Instructions for modifying the standard and Chinese radio. Instructions for modifying the standard and Chinese radios Chinese radios with tuner QSD-RT-L93
Once upon a time, at the dawn of the automobile industry, cars were only for driving. But a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then; times have dictated their demands. During this time, a car without a radio (unless, of course, it is a sports car) began to be considered somehow inferior. In fact, such a transition coincided with the spread of compact media. Imagine a vinyl record player integrated into a car or reel tape recorder very difficult, but cassette recorders have caught on. CDs have also come into play, on which you can record a bunch and enjoy your favorite songs without repetitions, even on a long trip.
Meanwhile, progress does not stand still, and for some time now the most adequate storage medium for your music is a USB flash drive. It does not require boxes like cassettes and discs, you can record several times more tracks on it, and the music will not be interrupted by shaking in the eternal Russian pits.
A radio with a flash drive has become a de facto standard. However, it happens that the standard radio does not have such a connector.
We are planning an operation
The quality of modern devices in the budget segment often raises questions. Installing a cheap Chinese radio in your car just for the sake of additional functionality, and then throwing it away six months later due to a breakdown, is a dubious pleasure. Therefore, some drivers prefer to remake a standard tape recorder by adding a playback function.
Before you start soldering USB into your car radio, think about the cost of the issue. If you are not a seasoned engineer, and at the same time are not interested in programming microcontrollers, then nothing will come of this. You'll just end up throwing away your radio, wasting time and money. Much more effective method- use an FM modulator. It's much easier and faster.
Converting a car radio to USB using this device will take very little time. Today you can buy a variety of models, most of them are equipped with connectors for flash drives. Usually, by the way, in addition to USB, there are slots for microSD and SD, the modulator transmits a signal at the radio frequency of your choice to the radio. In this way, through a third-party device, you can listen to music from your storage device.
But this method may be too primitive for you. Third party device, dangling, looks bulky and uncomfortable; For some this does not matter, but for you it may be critical. If you want to completely hide USB in the standard radio with your own hands, you can do some simple manipulations with a screwdriver and a soldering iron.
Let's get started
First of all, disassemble the modulator. Under its body, in fact, one microcircuit is hidden. Structurally, this is a simple device, the main thing we need from it in our process is the firmware. It is this that determines the operation of the device, and it is only because we cannot do it ourselves that we, in principle, use . Its model will be written on the microcircuit. You need to find the specifications of this chip on the Internet. In order to convert the radio into a flash drive, you will need an audio signal output connector. Maybe on this board something like audio out will be written, but usually due to their small size there is no inscription. However, this does not matter, because the pinout diagram can be found on the Internet without any problems. Now take a soldering iron with a thin tip and carefully solder the wires to this pin.
Due to the fact that, at its core, a modulator is a simple player with a transmitter, at this stage you can already check the correctness of your actions. If you connect speakers to the audio output while the player is playing, they should reproduce sound. If everything is so, we proceed to the next stage.
You need to take it apart. On its chip we find (in the same way, via the Internet) an audio input, and solder the wires soldered to the modulator here too. Thus, generally speaking, we replace the sound from the tape in the cassette player with a USB flash drive, which is read and transmitted by the modulator. In fact, the work could have been completed here, but we didn’t just want to get a signal, we wanted to make an aesthetically attractive design!
Please note that there will be no sound from the player until you insert a cassette. On the one hand, what difference does it make, let it spin. On the other hand, you will have to turn the cassette over every time it runs out, and this is irrational. Instead, let's try to figure out why this happens in principle.
The firmware of the cassette recorder is designed in such a way as to reproduce sound only when the cassette receiver is operating. A simple controller soldered to the motherboard. As a rule, there are button sensors on it. So, based on the radio specification found on the Internet, we will find out which button/sensor is pressed when the cassette is inserted into the radio, and we will close it with a jumper. Done, now the system is sure that the cassette is constantly inserted and spinning.
Accordingly, we can unsolder and throw away the blocks we don’t need: the tape drive motor, the read head, the electronic part. After all, we won’t insert the cassette anymore.
All that's left is the assembly. USB Installation into a standard radio will require spatial thinking from you, but if you can place the modulator inside the radio casing and bring the flash drive slot into the cassette receiver, you can appearance leave the radio virtually unchanged. Important: use shielded wires for soldering! This will help you avoid unpleasant surprises. The question of nutrition remains. In the modulator, which is powered from the cigarette lighter, a stabilizer chip is hidden in the power connector. Disassemble this tail, take out the board. We unsolder the wire from the player, attach the bar to this place with shielded wires, and from the bar we throw the same shielded wires to any place on the radio microcircuit where there is 12 V. Most often, for this we use the very pads from which we previously soldered the tape drive relay.
After this, we recommend sealing the cassette receiver window so that you don’t accidentally push a cassette into it and break the entire structure. Actually, this is where the main work is completed. All that remains is to install the resulting device back into the standard slot on the dashboard and enjoy your favorite music from the flash drive.
After installation
The steps described above help get rid of the annoying shortcomings of data transmission over a radio channel. Directly soldered wires will prevent interference, glitches and signal loss. On the one hand, it would be possible to go further and, having figured out the structure of the radio, connect the control buttons from the player with the buttons of the tape recorder with the same wires, so that you can switch tracks using the standard buttons. On the other hand, we leave such delights to the discretion of inquisitive drivers. Just remember about moderation and safety precautions.

Budget cars are budgetary because manufacturers cut total savings on everything. In them they also additionally eliminate high frequencies in standard radios. However, even in middle-class cars, audio systems from well-known manufacturers, including those from Japan, have the same disadvantages.
They are different in different cars, but can be eliminated by the owners themselves.
The standard radio in Lada Priora and Lada Vesta cars has good sound and quite a wide circle functionality. For the most part, car owners are happy with it. However, a number of simple improvements can improve the sound and noise filtering.
Modification of the standard radio consists of replacing the microcircuit in the amplifier (you must install the “ULF TDA7560”) and the amplifier power capacitor. Instead of a standard capacitor, install two: 10,000 µF and a film capacitor “K 73-17” 0.47 µF 250V, which creates a power reserve. After this the sound becomes more high level volume with cleaner playback.
Attention: on the radio components market, the TDA7560 microcircuit has interchangeable analogues: TDA7851; PAL007; TDA7850.
"Mazda 3"
In radios installed by the manufacturer in Mazda 3 cars, the amount of distortion increases with increasing sound strength - constant wheezing at a power level of more than 20 divisions.
The problem is not in the speakers, but in the power amplifier, distorting sound signal. The output is to increase the voltage to 16-18V. However, it is not in the car. You can achieve your goal, increase the voltage from 12V to 18V, using the universal converter URZ1122.
This power supply is manufactured by different companies under different names and different markings. Therefore, the specific choice of the DC-DS converter model is up to the car owner. The only thing to consider is various models different size. Compact converters are easily built into the radio, larger ones are installed on the outside of the case.
Hyundai Solaris
In Hyundai Solaris, many owners are not satisfied with the sound of the radio. They solve this problem in two ways:
- install additional amplifiers, subwoofers, and pull wires with a large cross-section throughout the cabin;
- The radio itself is being modified.
Both methods achieve the same result. But in the first case, it is expensive and the car interior becomes cluttered. The second method costs little money and does not spoil the internal design. All you need is time and desire. The process is standard. Replace the chip in the standard TOSHIBA TB 2926 AHQ amplifier with a TDA 7560 and increase the capacitor power to at least 3900-4000 uF. The ideal option is a 10,000 µF capacitor.
The process of replacing radio components itself is not complicated. Difficulties arise when removing the radio from the locks holding it and disassembling it. Patience and attentiveness will help here. Ultimately, the work will pay off with spacious, clear sound on standard speakers.
"Kia Rio"
In the Kia Rio, the manufacturer installs a standard MOBIS PA710 QBR radio made in China. It has the same problems as the Hyundai Solaris, although the radios are from different manufacturers.
They have one thing in common - the standard TOSHIBA TB 2926 AHQ amplifier. Therefore, the solution to the problem is the same as that of Solaris. In addition, the audio system does not have a USB connector. This drawback is also easily eliminated.
"Kia Sorento"
Car enthusiasts connect a rear view camera to the standard Kia X7BB radio on a Kia Sorento. For getting Hi-Fi sound change it to model X8BB.
A number of radios from well-known manufacturers with high quality sound systems installed on various brands of cars also require improvement.
Many models of both cars and trucks are equipped with Japanese Pioneer radios. This is one of best options car radio, With good sound and a wide range of functions. However, it has a significant problem. It does not turn off, but goes into sleep mode with backlit keys and a working clock. This distracts the driver while driving and drains battery when parked.
The problem is resolved by reconfiguring the audio system.
- By pressing number 2 we enter the menu.
- Find the System section;
- Activate PW Save;
- Turn off the radio with the OFF button, after which it will go into sleep mode again;
- We remove the problem with button 1. Only the clock remains. If you want to remove them too, click on number 4.
Problem solved. There will be no return to sleep mode.
Chinese radios with tuner QSD-RT-L93
Modification of a Chinese radio with the QSD-RT-L93 tuner is very difficult and only professionals can do it. But even a novice car enthusiast can improve the quality of radio signal reception.
The radio manufacturer ignored the operation of the display controller. As a result, interference is emitted outward through the radio panel and reaches the antenna input. This is most clearly manifested when installing the antenna inside the cabin, on the glass. The solution is to shield the audio system housing, which will lock the interference inside it. This can be achieved by simply grounding the aluminum base of the display.
Additionally, you can strengthen the LED power converter by adding to the circuit ceramic capacitor with a capacity of 1 µF.
Using simple and affordable methods, you can significantly improve the sound of standard audio systems and eliminate some design flaws.
