Meizu MX 2 firmware

A small instruction on how to flash Meizu MX 2 to an alternative firmware, or simply update the stock Flyme OS to the latest current version. I will describe the process of flashing the phone, using the example of installing an alternative popular ROM - MiUi. The sequence of actions during the update will be the same.

  • Before installing the next ROM or theme, I recommend making a backup (backup) of important data and installed programs. This will allow you to painlessly recover in case of failure.
  • It is recommended to store your data in on-line storages (Dropbox, YandexDisk, GoogleDrive, etc.) or on another medium, so that at any time you have access to this reserve.
  • Be sure to fully charge the phone battery before flashing so that no force majeure occurs.
  • If the firmware process is interrupted and the phone turns off unexpectedly, you can most likely get a “brick”.
  • Do not flash assemblies and patches whose functionality you do not understand, usually the firmware from "Vasya" or "Petit" is not finalized and their installation can harm your smartphone.
  • For beginners, it is recommended to flash only official stable assemblies, in this case I recommend downloading the firmware on the official sites (miui.com, cyanogenmod.org, etc.)
  • If you do not understand something, it is better to ask before you do something, I will always be happy to answer and help you.
  • If you still decide to flash your smartphone, first read the instructions for the Meizu MX 2 firmware, and then flash it.
  • Check the downloaded firmware file size and MD5 checksums, flashing a corrupted or corrupted archive will result in an error during flashing.
  • It is recommended to have several reliable firmware files on the memory card, including Flyme, this is necessary in order to flash the smartphone with a working firmware in case the new firmware “did not start” or to roll back to Flyme.
  • Do not use Russian letters for the names of firmware or folders in which they are stored, usually Recovery “does not understand” the Cyrillic alphabet.
  • All actions that you perform with your smartphone - you do at your own peril and risk, the site is not responsible for your actions and the possible death of your smartphone.
  • In Meizu MX2, obtaining Root rights is provided by the manufacturer and flashing and does not lead to loss of warranty when using the stock firmware FlymeOS.
  • MIUI firmware NOT stock for this device, although officially supported by MIUI developers

1. Always update the device firmware with sufficient battery charge (at least 20%)!
2. It is recommended to update the firmware with the "Clear Data" option marked to avoid software errors during the subsequent use of the smartphone!
Note: Clearing data ("Clear Data") means deleting the current settings, phonebook entries, messages, notes, mail accounts, as well as installed third-party software. This does not affect data such as music, videos, photos and other files contained in the phone.

To save third-party software, it is recommended to use Android utilities specially designed for this.

The latest firmware FlymeOS 6 has shown itself not from the best side. My old Meizu M2 Mini began to work much worse and I thought about rolling back to FlymeOS 5. Fortunately, this is very simple to do.

In this tutorial, I'll show you how to easily rollback to the previous version. The instruction should be suitable for any Meizu smartphone with FlymeOS.

Preparing to rollback to the previous version of FlymeOS.

Rollback is best done by completely flashing the smartphone. Fortunately, Meizu allows you to do this without any problems. We need the official FlymeOS firmware in the form of an update.zip archive. You can get it on our website in the smartphones section (not available for all devices) or on the official website mymeizu.ru

Select support, then select your device and download the required firmware as a file update.zip... In my case, this is the latest FlymeOS 5.

Before flashing, I recommend making a full backup of the device. But in general, Meizu does not format user sections with data, and after a rollback, your photos and videos will be in place, but the applications will need to be reinstalled.

Firmware.

Connect your smartphone to your computer and download the update.zip file to the root of your internal memory:

Volume up + power button

If you did everything correctly, then you will see the following window:

If after turning on the smartphone, this window does not appear for you, then the update.zip file was not found or is damaged!

If you have set a password on your smartphone, you will need to enter it:

If you suddenly need to exit the firmware mode, just hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.

After clicking on the Start button, the smartphone will be flashed.

Remember: after flashing Meizu, the first power-up may take a long time. Don't panic, this is a normal situation.
