Attack on Venediktov. Attack on Tatyana Felgenhauer. The main thing. How did the attack go?

On the afternoon of October 23, a man armed with a knife burst into the editorial office of the Ekho Moskvy radio station on Novy Arbat in Moscow and attacked the presenter Tatyana Felgenhauer. The journalist was wounded in the throat.

“He (the attacker. — RT) was detained by security and handed over to the police. According to doctors, there is no threat to Tatyana's life. However, a catheter was placed in her and she was hospitalized, ”the media website reports.

Tatyana Felgenhauer delivered to the Research Institute. Sklifosovsky, an operation is being performed.

“Now she is in the operating room,” said the editor-in-chief of the radio station, Alexei Venediktov.

Tatyana's colleague, editor-in-chief of the radio station's website, Vitaly Ruvinsky, published a photo from the scene of the attack on the Facebook social network.

“Tanya is in the hospital, her condition is moderate, there is no threat to her life. The attacker was detained, ”he explained in a comment.

Approximately 15 minutes after the first publication, he made the second, without accompanying it with any comments. He allegedly posted a photo of the assailant on social media.

Aleksey Venediktov stated that the attacker had a hand-drawn editorial plan with him. Also, all notes on paper were made by hand.

“He had a cheat sheet with him. He had a handwritten plan with room notes in English,” Venediktov told reporters.

According to the editor-in-chief of the radio station, law enforcement officers told him that the attacker was a "citizen of a foreign state." In this regard, Venediktov suggested that the attacker had dual citizenship.

The editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy also expressed his gratitude to the police and ambulance, which arrived very quickly to the call.

Speaking about Felgenhauer's condition, Venediktov said that she had been on the operating table for the second hour.

The fact that the attacker most likely knew exactly where to go was stated by one of the guards, who also suffered when he tried to detain the man.

“An outsider has come. Went to our guest room. I noticed that I was not a guest on the air, and followed him. And when I came in, I saw a picture of how he threatens our employee, stabs her with a knife. And I applied physical force to him. Then they waited for the police, ”said the guard.

According to him, the man was in no hurry and did not run - he went to the room where Felgenhauer was, as if he knew in advance where the office was located.

Reasons for the attack

The police headquarters in the capital reported that the attacker on the host of Ekho Moskvy was guided by a personal dislike for Felgenhauer.

“The attacker was detained by security officers and has now been handed over to the police. It is preliminary established that the attacker is a citizen of a foreign state. According to preliminary data, personal hostility served as the reason for the incident, ”Interfax quotes the words of law enforcement officers.

According to preliminary data, the man is a foreigner - a native of Georgia, living in Israel.

The Prosecutor General's Office called the story of the attack on the journalist "egregious".

“The outrageous story of the attack on Tatyana Felgenhauer in the editorial office of Ekho Moskvy. Colleagues from the radio station - words of support. Just spoke to A.A. Venediktov. He assured me that we were keeping the situation under control,” Alexander Kurennoy, a spokesman for the Russian General Prosecutor’s Office, said on his Facebook page.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under the article “Attempted murder”.

“At first I didn’t understand what was happening. I saw a man who, I thought, maybe hugging her or something. Then I saw that there was blood, ”she said.

According to her, after the attack, she helped Tatyana down the elevator, from where the guards called an ambulance. When the journalist was taken to the hospital, she was conscious.

“Several versions of what happened are being considered, including hooliganism, intentional infliction of bodily harm, and others,” a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti.

Journalist Felgenhauer

Tatyana Felgenhauer (real name Shadrin) has been an employee of the Ekho Moskvy radio station for more than 10 years. She is the main host of the Special Opinion program with the participation of the editor-in-chief of Nezavisimaya Gazeta Konstantin Remchukov. The journalist also holds the position of deputy chief editor of the radio station.

In 2011, together with her colleague Matvey Ganapolsky, she was awarded the Moscow Prize in journalism.

This is not the first attack on Ekho Moskvy employees. In particular, the author of the Access Code program, journalist Yulia Latynina, is subjected to periodic attacks. So, on September 3, she reported that unknown people set fire to her car, and in July corrosive gas was sprayed on the walls of the house where she lives. In addition, in August 2016, in the center of Moscow, attackers doused her with feces. The incident took place not far from the editorial office of Ekho Moskvy. According to Latynina herself, more than ten attacks were made on her in total.

Novaya Gazeta about the attack.

Boris Grits, who attacked the Ekho Moskvy journalist.

According to Venediktov, the 48-year-old intruder entered the editorial office in silence: "as all people go for prizes here, he turned to the referents and then ran to the guest room." Felgenhauer and a guard were there at that moment. Grits immediately hit the journalist with a knife.

Alexey Venediktov,

At the shout, my guard and the guard who is sitting right here rushed and twisted him. Five or seven seconds have passed. After that, we called an ambulance and the police.

The attacker was found to have a driver's license issued in Israel.

According to Alexey Venediktov, the attacker's name is Boris Yuryevich Grits. The man was born in the Georgian SSR in 1968. The attacker lived in Israel for some time, he received a driver's license there in 2008. It is also known that the attacker has Israeli citizenship.

Alexey Venediktov,
editor-in-chief of the radio station "Echo of Moscow":

He had a folded plan like this, where the layout of the rooms was drawn - that part, before the guards. I mean, he's been here before. Just a floor plan. And the inscriptions were made in English. Some user - there, some user - there, station - there, and so on.

Grits showed this hand-drawn plan to the guard. According to Venediktov, the attacker drew the layout of the rooms by someone who had already been on the editorial floor.

Alexey Venediktov,
editor-in-chief of the radio station "Echo of Moscow":

You can know the plan, but not know where the offices for journalists are, where the studio is, where the guest room is. He went straight there.

Venediktov was also alarmed by Boris Grits' knowledge of where exactly Felgenhauer was located.

Alexey Venediktov,
editor-in-chief of the radio station "Echo of Moscow":

He could not know that Tanya was here at that time, because she was not supposed to be there. She finished the broadcast shift at 11 am and at 12:15 we started a meeting between the editor-in-chief and the deputy. And this meeting, which was supposed to last an hour and a half, ended 25 minutes earlier. He showed up five minutes later. Here is such a strange thing. She shouldn't have been in that room, no way.

Here's how he could know that: a) she was at the station; b) that something is over here? He knew something we didn't know.

How did the attack go?

A man in inconspicuous dark clothes walked freely past the guards into the building on Novy Arbat, where the Ekho Moskvy radio station rents premises. I went up to the 14th floor, sprayed pepper spray in the face of the guard standing at the entrance to the editorial office, and moved towards the reception. There he met Tatyana Felgenhauer and, without saying a word, stabbed her in the throat. A security officer came to the rescue and neutralized the attacker, being wounded, then he was handed over to the police, writes Lenta.ru.

What about Tatyana Felgenhauer

When the wounded Tatyana, according to Alexei Venediktov, was taken out of the editorial office by doctors, she was still conscious.

The journalist was taken to the Sklifosovsky Research Institute. Doctors assessed her condition as serious, but there is no threat to life.

Sergey Petrikov,
Director of the Sklifosovsky Research Institute:

The fact that the patient was quickly transported and lifted to the operating room reduces the risk of further problems.

According to the doctor, the blood loss was not critical, there is no need for a donor yet. After the operation, Tatyana was put into an artificial coma.

Why Grits attacked a journalist

Boris Grits, suspected of attacking the journalist, admitted that he did not know her personally. He said that he had had "telepathic contact" with the victim since 2012. According to him, Tatyana Felgenhauer allegedly pursued him for two months. “Every night, using telepathic contact, she harassed me sexually,” he explained.

A. Plushev- About the atmosphere of hatred. On the eve of Alexei Venediktov in St. Petersburg, he was attacked by the National Bolsheviks, if I may say so. Now Alexei Alekseevich is in direct contact with us from Amsterdam. We have a few minutes for him to comment on this episode for us, maybe not the most pleasant, or maybe unpleasant, because whiskey was poured over. Good morning, Alexey Alekseevich.

T.Felgenhauer- Good morning!

A. Venediktov- Good morning, Alexander. Good morning Tatyana.

T.Felgenhauer- We had some specific questions about the whiskey because you wrote that it was watered down and cheap. In general, how did you react at the first moment? It is noticeable from the video that you, in general, reacted quite calmly, although I don’t know ... I would be scared, to be honest.

A. Venediktov- I wasn't scared. It was unpleasant, because I, in fact, at that moment took the microphone to start the speech. I, as a former school teacher, will say that this is the most important entry into the discussion with such a difficult colleague as Mr. Prokhanov. And, of course, they confused me. But, on the other hand, they gave me excitement.

A. Plushev- They write in their claims under the video on YouTube that it is, among other things, for 2011, for protests ... Well, why viskar - because they drank with the authorities and so on. How can you respond to such accusations?

A. Venediktov- My lawyers will answer. I will return to Moscow tomorrow and consult with my lawyers. There are people who were performers - there will be one attitude towards them, as I understand it. There are people who were the organizers - they will be treated differently. There are people who are customers - there will be a third attitude towards them.

Actually, what happened? An unregistered political party carried out an attack on the editor-in-chief of one of the well-known media for political reasons, which they do not hide. Let my lawyers deal with it.

A. Plushev- Do I understand correctly that if there is one of the possibilities - this is the further development of this case in court or in the prosecutor's office - in some way?

A. Venediktov- I think that after consulting with lawyers, I will be able to answer you. Although preliminary telephone conversations with lawyers say that there is such a prospect, and quite understandable. If my lawyers say, "Pah on them," then pah on them.

T.Felgenhauer- Clear. But you personally, as the editor-in-chief, like Aleksey Venediktov, you put this attack on a par with attacks on oppositionists, because it is precisely this format of attacks that has recently become: a) popular and b) unpunished, because it is somehow easy for everyone very relevant?

A. Plushev- There is also Yulia Latynina ...

T.Felgenhauer- Yes, Yulia Latynina. She was so attacked.

A. Venediktov- I'm not going to take this lightly, although, of course, next to people who were mutilated, such as Oleg Kashin or attempts to mutilate Alexei Navalny, this attack, of course, is light, in fact.

But the point is not that - it could have been just water - but the point is that this level of violence and intolerance that occurred in a place called "Dialogues", "Open Library". This is another Russia... Is this the kind of Russia you want? No, she is completely different. I live in another Russia, that's absolutely for sure. So I don't think this should be taken lightly. And we will go strictly legal way, if my lawyers find such an opportunity. Because I don’t want to create PR for this marginal group, these stormtroopers, but, nevertheless, it’s also impossible to leave it like that, because this is a precedent for others.

A. Plushev- Surely, our listeners would ask if they had the opportunity via SMS: if representatives of this unregistered NBP (banned on the territory of the Russian Federation), including Eduard Limonov, would be allowed to air, what is called, after that?

A. Venediktov- To be honest, I did not see the reaction of Eduard Limonov. Yes, I remind you that the only media when Eduard Limonov was imprisoned and when these guys were imprisoned was Echo of Moscow, which gave the floor to their lawyer and them. And it will continue. These attacks do not change the editorial policy of Ekho Moskvy radio station. Actually, this is the goal: to make us change our editorial policy, to make us afraid, to confuse us. Will not work! We will continue to do what we did, including those people who, from our point of view, will be illegally detained by the authorities.

T.Felgenhauer- Eduard Limonov has already commented on this attack in his LiveJournal, he wrote that "why Venediktov - for 2011, because he is worse than the authorities, because the authorities are at least sometimes right" that's his comment.

A. Venediktov- I absolutely do not care the position of those people who comment on this, absolutely purple. I repeat once again: neither my position nor the editorial position will change. They didn't attack him!

A. Plushev- Thanks a lot. Alexei Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the radio station "Echo of Moscow" is on a direct line from Amsterdam.

On Monday, October 23, an unknown person attacked Tatiana Felgenhauer, deputy editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, with a knife. The Investigative Committee opened a case under the article "attempted murder", and an Interfax source in the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the attack was caused by personal motives. Bloggers discovered an online diary, allegedly belonging to the attacker, in which he threatened the presenter. The rain collected everything that is known about this attack.

The attack happened at 12.45 Moscow time, said Alexei Venediktov, editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy. The attacker entered the building on Novy Arbat, where the editorial office of the radio station is located, at the entrance he sprayed pepper spray in the face of the guard, after which he ran to the floor where the studio is located. The telegram channel Mash, associated with the publication Life, wrote that the attacker took the elevator. As Venediktov's assistant Kira Tverskaya told Dozhd's correspondent, the attacker had an editorial plan with him.

On the floor, the assailant broke into the guest room, where he stabbed Felgenhauer in the throat. After that, the people who were around took the presenter away and called an ambulance for her. The attacker was detained and tied up, he also managed to injure the guard, Dozhdyu, radio station host Olga Bychkova.

“The attacker did not shout anything, everything was quiet and silent. He approached, hugged him, and inflicted a wound,” Sergey Buntman, deputy editor-in-chief of the radio station, told Meduza.

As Venediktov said, four ambulance crews and police officers arrived at the editorial office “very quickly,” the editor-in-chief added. According to Moscow Deputy Mayor Leonid Pechatnikov, the ambulance arrived four minutes after the call. The official representative of the General Prosecutor's Office Alexander Kurennoy named the attack is a "flagrant story". “Just talked to A.A. Venediktov. He assured that we are keeping the situation under control,” he wrote on Facebook.

The doctors of the brigade said that Felgenhauer had moderate damage, Bychkova said. The presenter was hospitalized at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute. “The wound received is not life-threatening,” Pechatnikov told Interfax. Venediktov on the air of Echo of Moscow said that Felgenhauer was in the operating room, where she was undergoing an emergency operation. According to an Interfax source, the presenter's condition is assessed as stably grave, but there is no threat to life.

Later, the director of the Research Institute. Sklifosovsky Sergey Petrikov said that the presenter was in a serious condition and she was conscious. “It’s good that they were taken to the hospital very quickly,” Ekho Moskvy quotes him as saying. Later, Venediktov said that Felgenhauer was put into an artificial coma.

What is known about the attacker

Mash reported that there were two attackers, but the radio station staff spoke of only one intruder. The editor-in-chief of the radio station's website, Vitaly Ruvinsky, published a photo of the attacker during the arrest.

“He looks to be 40-45 years old. He is not tall, ”the message on the Ekho Moskvy website says. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the attacker turned out to be a foreigner, without specifying what country he was from. RIA Novosti reported, citing a law enforcement source, that he was a native of Georgia, living in Israel. The attacker's name is Boris Grits. The Investigative Committee opened a case under the article "attempted murder". An Interfax source also said that a psychiatric examination would be carried out.

Mash, without citing a source, wrote that during interrogation the attacker said about a "telepathic connection" with Felgenhauer. “I never knew her in reality, but I saw and felt her. She was too intrusive, she was in my head, ”the Telegram channel quotes him as saying.

Online diary

The Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow published a video of the interrogation of the attacker. According to him, he had known her "by telepathic contact" for five years. “Telepathic contact has been since 2012,” the man says. According to him, Felgenhauer "sexually harassed" him for two months. “Every night, using telepathic contact, she climbed in and harassed me sexually,” the suspect said.

Journalist Roman Moguchiy

Boris Grits, who attacked Ekho Moskvy host Tatyana Felgenhauer, came to the editorial office with a handwritten plan of its premises, Aleksey Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the radio station, told Novaya Gazeta.

“He walked in silence, as all the people go for prizes with us, turned to the referents and then ran to the guest room. Before that, my guard was sitting there, just resting, and immediately [Gritz] attacked Tanya and hit her in the neck. At the shout, my guard and the guard who is sitting right here rushed and twisted him. 5-7 seconds have passed, - the newspaper quotes the words of Venediktov. - He had a folded plan like this, where the layout of the rooms was drawn - that part, before the guards. I mean, he's been here before. Just a floor plan. And the inscriptions were made in English. Some user - there, some user - there, station - there, and so on.

The editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy specified that the plan of this floor of the building is not in the public domain: “It was definitely drawn by a person who has been here. You can know the plan, but not know where the offices for journalists are, where the studio is, where the guest room is. He went right there…” Commenting on what happened to the Current Time TV channel, Venediktov admitted that Grits had already come to the editorial office of Echo "as a listener, as a recipient of our prizes."

At the same time, an employee of the radio station, in a conversation with Dozhd, suggested that it was not difficult to draw up a diagram, since the radio station conducted video tours of the editorial office. “The investigators showed the plan that was found with him. This is a piece of paper where the editorial board's diagram was drawn by hand, how he planned to enter the building and office. He probably had to guess where she would go after the broadcast, where our hosts generally go after the broadcast. Since we conducted video tours of the editorial office, told where we were and what, probably, it was not so difficult to do this, ”said an unnamed Echo employee.

As Venediktov noted to Novaya Gazeta, Felgenhauer finished her broadcast shift at 11:00, and at 12:15 she began a meeting that was supposed to go on for an hour and a half. However, the meeting ended 25 minutes early and about 5 minutes after it ended, the attacker appeared.

“This is such a strange thing. She shouldn't have been in that room, no way. Here's how he could know that: a) she was at the station; b) that we have run out of something here, ”says Venediktov. He added that he was able to meet with the head of the Gazprom-Media security department only after today's attack, although he had written to him more than once before.

Venediktov also described the knife that Grits used to hit the journalist. “I spoke with the doctors, the blow was very serious, it was a penetrating wound in the throat with a knife. The blade is more than 15 centimeters, as it seemed to me, ”said the editor-in-chief of Current Time.

“I saw when he was already hanging over her and stabbed her. I used physical force, laid him on the floor and waited for the arrival of the police. He realized that it was pointless to resist, lay on the floor and waited, ”one of the guards who twisted Grits described the attack itself.
