Nero Cover Designer is much easier to learn than Photoshop.

Step 3. Create the cover. You can create a text cover; you can upload a painting or photograph; You can combine text and pictures.

What to do if you still want to design the disc beautifully? I'm sorry, what? The simplest thing is to buy a ready-made box for the disc (you can find it at any computer store) and insert the appropriate cover into it.
So here are my friends. Today you will just learn create and draw covers for CD boxes. And as always, for these good purposes we will use .

GIMP Lesson - How to Make a CD Cover
Step 1. First of all, we go to the store and buy a standard plastic box (13 mm end).
Step 2. Now we need to know the dimensions of the cover that we will make. See if you have any movie lying around in your closet. DVD disc? If you find one, then great! Take out the cover and measure it with a ruler.
And if there are no ready-made DVDs with covers, and you don’t want to look for them. Then I’ll tell you a secret, so be it! Size of finished DVD cover equal to 273 mm by 183 mm.
Step 3. Now you know the size. What's next? Let's launch GIMP editor and through the menu "FILE-CREATE" create a new document.
In the dialog box that opens, first select millimeters from the drop-down menu, and only then set our dimensions.

Step 5. Now we temporarily put the editor aside and go look for materials for the cover.
For today's example I will do CD cover with photos from the birthday party, which took place in a nightclub. Accordingly, in the design (cover design) we must adhere to the style and theme of the event.
A small legal digression. Remember! Each image has its own copyright holder (the owner of the image). Therefore, it is more correct to buy an image on special photo stocks, where you legally acquire the RIGHT to use the purchased image, and not TAKE a picture from a search, as will be discussed further for EDUCATIONAL purposes.
And so, we need a BACKGROUND. To do this, I enter the phrase “ nigntclub background”, after that I switch to the PICTURES tab and select the one I like. In this case, you need to pay attention to the size of the selected background. The bigger, the better.

Please note that I am entering the phrase in English. The point is that in my phrase keyword background, which is translated into Russian as FON.
Why not look for pictures right away in Russian? I argue this by the fact that there are MORE English-speaking users in the Internet world and, accordingly, there is also MORE “CONTENT” (videos, pictures, etc.).

Step 6. Now that the source materials have been selected, we return to the GIMP editor.
Go to the menu "FILE-OPEN AS LAYER" and open the background image.
Step 8 We add our title to the working project. To do this, go to the menu again "FILE-OPEN AS LAYER" and select the file with the header.
Step 9 Using a tool SCALE And MOVE We adjust the size of the inserted image to the size of the graphic field and position the layer the same way as mine.
Step 10 Now let's start decorating. Create a new transparent layer. Draw a small curved line on it at the bottom of the cover. I'll take a tool for this. CONTOURS and create a line like this.
After creating the outline, press the button "SELECT FROM CONTOUR"
Step 11 Fill the resulting area GRADIENT with a smooth transition. Let's take colors from the background as samples. My subtotal now looks like this. Click on the screenshot to enlarge it.
Step 12 Now you need to edit the inserted title. Now it clearly does not fit into the framework of our project. You need to remove the white background color from it.
To do this, make sure once again that we are on the layer with the title and go to the menu "COLOR - COLOR IN ALPHA CHANNEL", where we click OK.
Then click on the icon for creating a new layer and fill this layer with WHITE.
Step 13 What else? Let's highlight the central area (end) a little. To do this, I'll create another TRANSPARENT layer on top of the others and fill it with white. Please note that we will only fill the end, having previously created RECTANGULAR SELECTION between the guides. I change the layer transparency using the slider to 50%.
Step 14 Basically, I showed you the basic techniques on how to add elements to the cover. Now you can insert the necessary decorations yourself, which you consider necessary, for example, using the TEXT tool to add an inscription to the end.
Step 15 Now it's time to figure out the CORRECT printing of this cover. Next I’ll tell you how I do it.
Go through the EXPORT menu and close the editor.
Step 16 Opening text editor Open office(Libre office or WORD).
Change the page orientation to LANDSCAPE. IN Libre office this is done through the menu FORMAT-PAGE-ORIENTATION LANDSCAPE.
STEP 18. Now click right click mouse over the inserted image and from context menu select an item IMAGE FORMAT.
