Overall, Lenovo s660 is not bad budget smartphone, which returns the funds invested in it by 150 percent. Judge for yourself, there is a 4-core processor on board with 1300 MHz per core, this is enough to use all applications, as well as play most games on the Android operating system, the only “but” is 1 GB of RAM is not enough, although for watching videos, Surfing the Internet is enough. It is worth adding that the OS is stable and fast. Also, there are two cameras 8 MP and 0.3 MP, respectively, the pictures are not the best, but the Lenovo s660 is not a camera, and it will not forget about the cost of the device. Most strong point The smartphone has a battery that is capacious and allows it to be used at maximum load for about a day; for some people, in low-intensity mode, the battery lasts 4-5 days. Summarizing all of the above, we recommend a smartphone for a detailed inspection and acquaintance

Lenovo S660 this is a solution for those who are looking for a smartphone with a premium design or close to it, dual SIM support, good battery, and at a low price. In other words, this is a budget reincarnation of earlier.

The main differences from the Lenovo P780 model: the display is slightly smaller (4.7? versus 5“) and the battery has a smaller capacity (3000 mAh versus 4000 mAh). Otherwise, the smartphones are very similar, but in favor Lenovo S660 plays the new and more efficient 4-core Mediatek MT6582 platform.

Equipment

The smartphone and accessories are neatly packed in a compact box made of thick cardboard.

In addition to Lenovo S660, the package includes: 1x battery, 1x charger block, 1x USB cable, 1x adapter, 1x protective film, 1x headset and documentation in Chinese.

Charger unit with an output current of 1.5 A. American type plug, but included is an adapter.

The USB cable looks very high quality and works flawlessly.

For a budget class, the sound quality in the headphones is not bad, for telephone conversations or watching videos will do, but for music it’s better to choose something better, preferably with ear pads.

There is only one battery included.

Design

The developers of Lenovo S660 tried to give the smartphone a solid appearance, using a metal body similar to the Lenovo P780. But unlike the Lenovo P780, the Lenovo S660 is more compact and fits more comfortably in the hand. Its dimensions are 138 x 68.8 x 9.95 mm, weight - 151 grams.

Out of the box, the front panel is protected only by the factory film. Most likely, the main protection is provided by ordinary glass, at least on the manufacturer’s website nothing is said about Gorrilla Glass or an analogue.

The touch control buttons are on the bottom, and even lower is the main microphone. Unfortunately, the color of the buttons does not contrast at all with the background of the front panel, which is why they are almost invisible. The situation is partially saved by backlighting and vibration.

The lid is metal. The back of the lid is polished and has a characteristic metal pattern, thanks to this back panel looks solid and is less susceptible to scratches and fingerprints. But there is also a minus - it is slippery.

The main camera module hardly protrudes. Under the camera there is a single low-power LED backlight, above there is a hole for an additional microphone.

There is only one external speaker. The sound quality is pretty decent, but there is some wheezing at high volumes.

The volume and power buttons are conveniently located on one of the side ends, the second is empty. From the side you can see that the Lenovo S660 has a two-stage design; after the main edging, which is stylized as metal, there is another one, but much smaller and made of glossy plastic. It looks beautiful, of course.

The microUSB connector is located at the bottom end. There is also a hook at the bottom for removing the cover. And it should be noted that in this part the cover of the smartphone is loose. Perhaps this is the only comment about the Lenovo S660 assembly.

The jack for standard 3.5mm headphones is on top.

The first time removing the cover was quite problematic, but you can soon get the hang of it. Under the cover there is a compartment with a removable battery, one slot for memory cards and two for regular-sized SIMs, which are placed one below the other.

Display

The smartphone is equipped with a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. To be honest, until I looked at the specifications of the Lenovo S660, I thought that its resolution was 1280 x 720 pixels. In general, discomfort about “do I see pixels? Most people definitely won’t, the picture is clear, rich in color and with high viewing angles.

There are also no complaints about brightness; the display performed well even in the sun.

Performance

Lenovo S660 is built on the Mediatek MT6582 chipset, which is based on 4 Cortex-A7 CPU cores with a frequency of 1.3 GHz and 2 Mali-400 MP2 GPU cores. The RAM capacity is 1 GB, the built-in memory is 8 GB, and the smartphone supports microSD memory cards up to 32 GB.

In Antutu, the smartphone scores over 17,000 points, which can be considered a good result. In other tests the results are consistent.

The Lenovo S660's hardware allows it to easily handle 3D games like Dead Trigger 2 or Real Racing 3. The smartphone also plays most 1080p video formats without any problems.

In general, the performance of the Lenovo S660 is sufficient to solve the vast majority of modern tasks, and quickly, without delays or slowdowns.

Communications

As befits an MTK smartphone, Lenovo S660 supports dual SIM operation. mobile connection represented by both 2G networks: GSM 900 MHz / 1800 MHz / 1900 MHz, and 3G: WCDMA 2100 MHz / 900 MHz. Despite the metal body, signal reception is excellent, but the sound quality of the voice speaker is mediocre, you can hear it normally, but the sound is not clear.

Also wireless technologies presented Wi-Fi technologies 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth version 4.0 and GPS/A-GPS. All technologies work flawlessly. For example, a cold GPS start takes several minutes, a hot start takes seconds.

Cameras

The rear camera of the Lenovo S660 is 8 megapixels with autofocus and LED backlight, the front one is with a ridiculous 0.3 megapixels today and constant focal length. The quality of the front camera is low, but in good lighting it is enough for video calling. The rear one is much better and, for its class, has pretty good quality; examples of photos can be seen below:

Battery

Time battery life- This is one of the main advantages of a smartphone. Considering its size, the Lenovo S660 is equipped with a very capacious 3000 mAh battery. And if you remember that the smartphone has a low display resolution and an energy-efficient processor, then you can count on long-term battery life. According to the manufacturer, the battery should last for 7-10 hours in talk mode, and up to 35 days in standby mode.

Unfortunately, my sample has obvious problems with battery life. A smartphone doesn’t last more than a day, and it doesn’t matter in what mode you use it. But I don’t think that Lenovo is misleading with its data, rather the problem is in the software. The fact is that this device uses a non-native Lewa OS ROM. But since I had the smartphone for a limited time, I was not bothered by the problem of autonomy during the time. Perhaps the problem was in a bunch of unknown Chinese programs, which could work in the background and eat up energy. Unfortunately, I don’t know how the smartphone will behave on its native firmware. Based on logic and experience, I think it should withstand three days in inactive mode and two in mixed modes, at least the Antutu battery test indirectly confirms this.

Software

As I said above, my Lenovo S660 sample runs on non-native Lewa OS firmware, which is based on Android 4.2. The tailoring itself is cool and in many ways similar to MIUI. I would even call it a high-quality copy of MIUI. However, due to this firmware, the smartphone had problems with operating time.

Otherwise, Lewa OS software is excellent. The interface is easy to understand, beautiful, fully Russified, with many high-quality applications. To start working fully, the system has enough applications, including Google market, branded players, camera, task manager and more. But there is also a lot of Chinese “garbage” that you will need to remove yourself. Overall, excellent firmware and software, but in this case there are problems with battery life. We have to wait for the patch.

It should be noted that the Lenovo S660 is actively growing in the community, so problems with the software are a temporary inconvenience that will soon be resolved by our Kulibins and Lenovo itself. By the way, my own Lenovo firmware, is also made by analogy with MIUI and is now developing quite well. In general, there is a choice.

Conclusion

Lenovo S660 left a mixed impression. Overall it is, and it has a future in the budget class. The smartphone has an excellent display, dual SIM, solid metal design, good processor And capacious battery, while being a budget product. As for the minuses, some of them are temporary and not significant, for example, a day of battery life due to problems with the software and minor ones - the back cover is loose and the speaker wheezes at high volumes.

For Lenovo, 2014 was a very productive year. The lineup replenished both budget devices and powerful smartphones. One of the new products presented was the S660 model.

Design

The Lenovo S660 phone is a fairly compact device. The size of the device is slightly smaller than usual due to the 4.7-inch screen. A slight reduction in the diagonal made it possible to make a gadget that is comfortable to use. The user can operate the device even with one hand.

The material of the case has undergone fundamental changes. In Lenovo S660, plastic has been replaced by aluminum. This solution significantly increased the smartphone's resistance to scratches and dents. Of course, if you want to, it’s not difficult to damage the device, but metal saves you from accidental injuries.

Such an interesting case material also has its drawbacks. The surface of the smartphone collects fingerprints incredibly quickly. Naturally, wiping your phone is not difficult, but it is unpleasant.

Due to the metal, the device looks solid and quite stylish. Although there are no significant changes in appearance, there is definitely some zest in the device.

The front side houses the display, sensors, camera, speaker, touch buttons and logo. On the right side there is a volume control and a power button. The back side has a logo, main camera, speaker, flash and microphone. The top end became a shelter for the headphone jack, and the bottom was reserved for USB.

In general, the device has an interesting appearance. The build quality is not satisfactory, and the durability of the device is excellent. Quite a suitable design for an entertainment smartphone.

Display

The C660 was equipped with a screen of only 4.7 inches. Quite a strange decision for a company that equips even budget devices with a large size. Low resolution will also be an unpleasant fact. The Lenovo S660 smartphone has only 960 by 540 pixels. This is an incredibly low specification and is more suitable for phones with four inches. Accordingly, the pixels are visible even to the naked eye.

The IPS matrix of the smartphone brightens up the situation somewhat. The screen on the Lenovo S660 is quite bright, which ensures high-quality work in the sun. There is also manual and automatic setting display. In addition to brightness, the device boasts a high viewing angle.

Despite the entertaining direction of the series, this representative did not have the best screen parameters. In terms of characteristics, even budget representatives of category “A” beat the C660.

That's what the manufacturer took care of protecting the display. The device is equipped with glass. There is no fear of scratches and damage to the screen.

Camera

The Lenovo S660 received the usual 8 megapixels for inexpensive models. The camera, which is acceptable for a budget employee, looks rather strange in a more expensive series. The resolution of 3264 by 2448 also worsens the impression. All characteristics indicate average image quality, but things are much worse.

In fact, the device takes photos that are more likely to be expected from a five-megapixel camera. The device lacks sharpness, but there is too much noise. Setting up the Lenovo C660 will not solve the problem either. The user will have to forget about night photos, since the pictures turn out incredibly bad.

A similar situation happened with video recording. The filming takes place in HD quality, but the result is disappointing. The video camera has the same problems as the photo camera.

The poor implementation of the main camera does not give hope for the front camera. The phone has a peephole of only 0.3 megapixels and is only suitable for video calls. You shouldn't expect more from the front camera.

Filling

The strongest point of the Lenovo S660 is its hardware. The company equipped the phone with the MTK processor common to the Chinese. Naturally, more optimal choice for an advanced model there would have been Snapdragon, but the Chinese took the path of saving. The processor has four cores, each of which operates at a frequency of 1.3 GHz.

Although there is no doubt about the performance of the filling, similar parameters are present in many of the company’s state employees. There is a feeling that the “S660” is not in its series.

The smartphone has a gigabyte of RAM. This amount of memory is quite enough to maximize the potential of the device. The combined efforts of the RAM and processor allow the C660 to easily solve a lot of problems.

Another parameter will not particularly please owners of the Lenovo S660. We are talking about 8 GB of native memory. Unfortunately, the user will only be able to use 6 GB. The remaining memory is allocated for Android. You can increase the memory with a 32 GB card.

Battery

Since the device belongs to the “S” entertainment series, the battery is installed accordingly. The battery capacity is 3000 maH, which is quite enough for long-term operation.

Active use of the gadget will drain the charge in about 6-7 hours. Not bad for Functional Setting brightening the screen and disabling unnecessary processes will significantly increase the duration of work.

The smartphone does not suffer from a lack of battery capacity; this is facilitated by the economical filling. Most of the charge will be spent solely on the display.

System

The device runs under the now outdated Android 4.2.2. The system has the design of the company Vibe UI with installed applications. Some programs will come in handy. If the question arises of how to take a screenshot on Lenovo S660, additional applications will help.

There are also more modern versions of the system for the C660. You can update Android using either FOTA or

Sound

You can't expect any special frills from the speaker. The sound for a device running on Android is quite acceptable and does not cause negativity. The included headset is not good for almost anything. The user will be forced to change headphones to get high-quality sound.

Connection

The device works with 2G and 3G, and the connection quality is quite high. The device also supports 2 SIM cards. Unfortunately, when making calls, one of the cards is disabled, since the smartphone only has one radio module.

The phone supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS functions. Unfortunately, the phone does not have OTG.

Price

You can become the owner of a “C660” for approximately 9 thousand rubles. Considering the characteristics of the device, the price is definitely too high. Some representatives from the “A” series have brighter parameters and lower cost.

Negative reviews

The most painful place of the device is its display, and many people note this. Conspicuous pixels definitely do not improve the user's mood. Despite the IPS matrix, the more important characteristics are not encouraging.

A weak camera is another drawback of the phone that buyers point out. Even under ideal conditions and great efforts of the owner, the picture can turn out bad. The reason for this, naturally, is the low resolution and 8 megapixel cameras. Solutions such as setting up the Lenovo S660 will not bring much results.

An out-of-date version of the system is also not a pleasant thing. The need to update confuses a lot of users. Without experience in firmware, it will be difficult to update the device.

Positive reviews

The advantage of the C660 is its productive hardware. The phone is really powerful and can handle even demanding games, gamers appreciate it. The problem will occur in 3D applications, but reducing the quality will solve the problem.

It is worth paying tribute to the stunning appearance. In addition to the fact that the phone is well-built, the device has a stylish design that is appreciated by the owners.

The autonomy of the device is the main feature of the series. The capacitive battery allows you not to worry about the state of charge.

Bottom line

The smartphone turned out to be not the most successful. Device "S660" with detailed comparison It is inferior even to some Lenovo state employees in characteristics and cost. A bunch of shortcomings, as well as an inflated price, do not create much attractiveness.

Lenovo continues to gain market share mobile devices. The company's lineup contains devices for every taste and color. My choice fell on the medium device price category– Lenovo S660. IN this review I will tell you about why I chose this particular smartphone, and what impression was left after a short period of using the device.

And these are the reasons why I chose this particular model:

1) Compact dimensions. Most modern devices have a screen size of 5 inches or more. The diagonal of the S660 is 4.7 inches.
2) Housing materials. To be honest, all kinds of plastic: “leather-like”, “metal-like”, glossy plastic – were a little tired. The Lenovo S660 body is made of aluminum, which gives appearance smartphone of rigor and solidity.
3) Large battery capacity. By today's standards, 3000mAh is far from a record, but considering small sizes screen and modest resolution, the autonomy of the device should be at high level.

The body of the smartphone is made entirely of metal. On the front side above the screen we see the Lenovo logo.

To the right of the earpiece there is a 0.3 MP camera and an event indicator. In the upper left corner there is a light and proximity sensor.

Below the screen we see three touch keys “menu”, “home” and “back”. The home key icon is designed in corporate style companies, in the form of clover.

The keys have a dim white backlight. On the right edge of the smartphone there is a power button and a volume rocker.

On the bottom left side there is a connector for charging and synchronization

On top is a headset jack.

The back cover is pleasant to the touch and has distinctive stripes; the manufacturer calls it a “matte metal back panel”.

The Lenovo logo is engraved in the center. It is worth noting that the back cover fits very tightly: this allows you to avoid backlashes and gaps, but removing it the first time is quite problematic. Fingerprints on the matte back panel are practically invisible.

The dimensions of the smartphone are 137x68mm. Despite the thickness of 1cm, the device fits almost perfectly in the hand. The control keys are conveniently located. The weight of the smartphone is 157 grams.

The equipment is modest and without frills.

Charger at 1500mA (flat plug, without adapter)
- microUSB cable
- headset

The screen diagonal is 4.7 inches with a resolution of 960x540 pixels. The smartphone uses a high-quality IPS matrix, which allows for good color reproduction and brightness. The image is not distorted, even if you look at the screen from a wide angle. Despite the low pixel density, there are no complaints about the screen.

The smartphone is powered by a 4-core MTK6582 chip with a frequency of up to 1.3 GHz. The old Mali-400 is used as a video accelerator. At the same time, thanks to the low display resolution and good firmware optimization, the tests produce good results. The interfaces work smoothly, and there are no slowdowns in everyday work.

Unfortunately, the author of the review will not acquire a 64GB memory card. The smartphone works fine with a 32GB card, and the card can be connected as disk drive, and the volume internal storage(about 5.6GB) is only available as a media device or camera.

The capacity of the removable lithium-polymer battery is 3000 mAh and weighs 51 grams.

Antutu Tester 1.3.5 gave 736 points, and the smartphone worked for about 4.5 hours at maximum load, which is a good result.

With average usage, one charge should last for two days.
The manufacturer promises us up to 36 hours (2G) and up to 20 hours (3G) talk time and 35 days in active standby mode.
The external speaker produces a fairly loud and clear sound, but maximum volume wheezing is heard.

The smartphone is based on modified firmware from Lenovo. A distinctive feature is the absence of a list installed applications. After installation, all programs end up on one of the desktops, and removal from the desktop automatically removes the program. The advantages of this firmware include a large number of various free themes that are available for download and installation, without additional registrations.

One of the shortcomings is that a significant part of the firmware has not been translated into Russian.

Due to the popularity of the model, you can find a large number of third-party firmware, for example: LeWa OS, Color OS, Vibe ROM and others.

In the room next to the router, Wi-Fi shows good level signal.

The first GPS start took a few minutes. Subsequent starts, after a reboot, occur within 15-20 seconds.

The smartphone uses an 8MP camera. The quality of the photos is below average, the pictures lack sharpness.

Front camera 0.3 megapixel.

Lenovo did not lose face and released another interesting smartphone. Despite the fact that the Lenovo S660 does not have any critical shortcomings, it has a number of shortcomings that do not allow it to be called an ideal smartphone in its class. I would include the main disadvantages: partial lack of firmware translation, weak camera and slightly overpriced.
However, it is worth noting the advantages of the device: a high-quality display with good brightness and wide viewing angles, a large battery capacity, and Lenovo’s refusal to use the usual plastic in favor of a metal case.

Pros:
+ Metal body
+ High-quality display
+ Large battery capacity

Minuses:
- Partial lack of firmware translation
- Weak camera
- Manufacturer price is a little high
