How to set up a modem on a computer. How to install a modem. How to set up an ADSL modem so that it connects to the Internet by itself How to set up a modem d

"D-Link" is one of the modems of the "D-Link" corporation line. All of them are quite simple and comfortable to set up. In this case, as an example, we will learn how to configure the "D-Link 2500U" modem. It is he who, perhaps, is given the greatest preference by the users of the ADSL Internet.

The proposed instruction will allow you to configure almost any modem from this line. It can be "2600U", "2650U", because they are all configured in the same way, or at least all of their settings are similar. We will consider the connection and configuration of this device step by step:

Point one - We connect the device to the telephone line: it is typical for all such modems that they must be connected to telephone lines. For this purpose, they come with special wires with plugs (connectors), which, in fact, are telephone wires. Nowadays, these are connected to through special "splitters" (filters). This is done for stable and fast Internet operation and to suppress noise in the handset.

How to set up the "D-Link" modem? Second point. We connect the device to a computer: at this stage of the process under consideration, difficulties should not arise even for inexperienced PC users. Simply remove the blue cable from the modem package and insert one end into the appropriate connector on the ADSL modem. The other end, respectively, is inserted into the corresponding port, which is located on the back of the PC. If there is none, then you have to fork out to buy

Anyone will do, even the most inexpensive 10/100 Mbps. It must be installed on the motherboard in a PCI slot. The "Windows" operating system should automatically detect the presence of new hardware, which will be marked by the appearance of a window with the choice of the Network. You must select the item: "Public network". Any other settings of the installed network card should not be changed, since they will be made automatically.

If all the connections are made correctly, the light on the modem will "light up" with "LAN" written above it.

Third point. How to configure the "D-Link" modem for the Types of such ADSL modem connections, there are two: 1) bridge and The difference is that the "bridge" connection implies an independent connection of the computer to the Internet, and the "router" connection means that the ADSL modem will make the connection on its own, then "transferring" the Internet to the PC. Consider as far as personal computer users find it preferable.

How to configure the "D-Link" modem and connect to the network with a "router":

  • After turning on the device, we wait about 25 seconds until the light with the inscription “Power” lights up.
  • On the back panel of such modems there is a special hole that provides access to the reset button for all settings. You need to press it with the modem turned on and wait about ten seconds.
  • We are waiting for about a minute more.
  • After launching any Internet browser, you should enter: 192.168.1.1, a window will appear in which you will need to enter "admin" in the login and password fields. Another page will appear. If this does not happen, you need to try entering: 192.168.0.1 (192.168.2.1). When a message appears: "Wrong username (password)", you need to enter "Admin" (with a capital letter).
  • On the left we press "Quick Setup" (in some versions of "Wizard") and see a new window.
  • By unchecking "DSL Auto-connect", we see new fields for entering the corresponding parameters. VPI and VCI are learned from the provider.
  • In the next window, check "PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)" and click "Next".
  • Now we actually come to the introduction of the login and password, known from the contract or plastic card.
  • The rest of the settings should also be suggested by the provider, since they may differ.
  • By clicking "Next", you will see a new window in which you can leave the settings as they are. Again "Next", and it is strictly forbidden to change the settings that have appeared, unless you are an advanced PC user with long experience. Once again "Next", and save the settings made by clicking "Save / Reboot".

This is practically all. Within a few minutes, if the setting is correct, the “i” or “Internet” light on the device will start blinking. This indicates that everything has been done correctly and the device is working properly.

The Rostelecom DSL-2500U router is an inexpensive and easy-to-use Link device for connecting to the World Wide Web. It is sold in the CIS countries, used to access the "global network" through the phone.

Network equipment is not capable of distributing wireless communication, as well as connecting via Ethernet to external resources.

Let's take a closer look at how the D-Link DSL-2500U model is configured for Rostelecom.

Configuring Rostelecom's D-Link 2500U network equipment takes place in a few simple steps. First login credentials, IP address, serial number and other specifications are given as information on the device label. The modem is equipped with the following connectors:

  1. A cable from the telephone is connected to the ADSL connector.
  2. The power cord supplied with the 2500U connects to the LAN port on the modem and the network adapter jack on the workstation.
  3. The power adapter is connected to the AV connector, and then the device is connected to the power supply.

The main parameter is located in the main WAN menu. For its initial configuration, you must go through the authorization process. We carry out the following actions:

Configuring the connection of 2500U Rostelecom to the Internet

Setting up the Rostelecom D-Link 2500U router is intuitive and simple.

There is a Russified version of the built-in software, that is, the residents of the Russian Federation will not have linguistic problems. Two configuration options are available: automatic and manual. Let's dwell on each of them.

Using the "Configuration Wizard"

For automatic installation of the 2500U model, open the "Wizard", follow the prompts on the screen. First, we indicate the region where the network device is located. Further, the user will be required to indicate the login and password specified in the agreement with the Rostelecom company.
The firmware will automatically complete the initial configuration of the D-Link 2500U: the PPP over Ethernet access option is enabled.

Self-configuration

If the user wants to carry out self-configuration, he will need to perform the following steps:

It is important to note that the modem in question is not intended for distributing Wi-Fi. It is used to receive data from a line and send it to one device via LAN.

Advanced router settings: manual mode

It is possible to independently select the mode of operation of the D-Link modem. In the "Control Panel" of the device, select the subsection "Network", then - the WAN tab and click "Add". After that, the "Create WAN Connection" dialog box will appear on the screen. In the "Connection type" item, select one of the possible methods:

  • Bridge: use the Add button to specify the VCI and VPI, check the NAT and Firewall items. The mode is intended for remote regions of the country, where Rostelecom has not yet been able to provide stable access to the World Wide Web.
  • PPPoE or PPPoA: register the above parameters, username / password. The rest of the items are marked as needed. This option is used in most cases.
  • Static IP: address, netmask and IP gateway are specified by the subscriber manually, based on information from the contract with Rostelecom.
  • Dynamic IP: no data is written. The IP address for the client is assigned automatically from the provider's DHCP server.

After finishing entering the parameters, save the changes.

IPTV setup

IPTV mode is used to deliver digital TV signal through an external network. For its stable operation, we connect a TV set-top box from Rostelecom to the 2500U model. Unfortunately, parallel activity of a workstation and TV is impossible, since there is only one LAN connector. We configure the router as follows:

DNS Server Configuration

This subsection of the main menu allows you to manually specify the addresses of the DNS servers of the communication service provider. The factory settings are set to the “Automatic receiving of an address from the provider” mode.

Uncheck the Enable Automatic Assigned DNS option. Next, enter the addresses of DNS servers received from Rostelecom. After making the changes, save them, and reboot the modem.

Additional features of the Rostelecom ADSL modem

The D-Link 2500U router supports the "Parental Control" option. It is the ability to block or allow access to selected sites at a specified time. The rules are adjusted through the "Control" subsection. To create a new action, click "Add".

Important! The created rule is installed on only one connected equipment (smartphone, laptop, tablet computer). This is due to the fact that the identification of devices is carried out by a physical address.

We draw up a schedule in the appropriate sections. The latter are filled in at the request of the parents. Adults set their own time limit for Internet use.

The next subsection is responsible for enabling / disabling the URL filter. Select the type of filter: block or allow. Then you should click "Change". The new window contains the URL, and the port is separated by a colon.

The changes you make are saved and the network device is rebooted. After switching on, the Rostelecom modem will block unnecessary sites or allow the transition to them at the specified time.

Conclusion

D-Link DSL-2500U is a low-cost network device for connecting to the World Wide Web, based on xDSL technology. The device is a little outdated, as the new models have stronger technical characteristics. However, if it is impossible to use high-speed tariff plans, its functionality is quite enough. D-Link DSL and other models from a similar line are in high demand in remote regions of the country, where, apart from telephone lines for connecting to the Internet, nothing else is offered.

Internet provider Rostelecom is one of the first in terms of the number of subscribers using its services. The company provides - Internet connection, telephony and television. When concluding an agreement for the provision of communication services with Rostelecom, the client can immediately purchase the appropriate equipment. And the specialists will install the Rostelecom modem and set it up for stable operation. The cost of the modem ranges from 1890 rubles to 6200 rubles, depending on the brand and model. There is usually no additional charge for the installation of equipment. But if the subscriber did not have the opportunity to use the services of specialists, and he wants to independently connect and configure the Rostelecom modem, he will be helped by a small and quite understandable instruction described below.

Before starting work, you need to understand what ADSL technology is and how it works.

A feature of the ADSL Internet technology of Rostelecom is the establishment of communication via telephone wires. Which makes it accessible, even for remote corners of the country. Connecting the Internet from a telephone cable is much easier than pulling, for example, optical fiber. The system of technology consists in asynchronous data transmission. At the same time, the speed of the received information is much higher than that of the transmitted one.

An important point when connecting to the Internet using ADSL technology is the purchase and connection of a special splitter to the line. With the help of which, the signal to the phone will not be interrupted when the Internet is on, and vice versa. It is a small box that holds telephone wires and branches out into several possible connections at the output.

The company provides 5 brands of routers:

  1. D-Link.
  2. Sagem [email protected]
  3. QTECH.
  4. TP-LINK.

The principle of operation, and the setting of the necessary parameters for connection, they do not differ significantly. Therefore, in order to understand how to configure the Rostelecom ADSL technology modem, the principle of operation will be considered on the example of the QTECH QDSL-1040WU Router.

Computer Requirements

Rostelecom routers may not work on older PCs. To make the connection smoothly, experts recommend using computers that meet the following requirements:

  • operating system - VISTA, XP, Windows 7 and higher;
  • the included system of automatic updates;
  • updatable browser (Internet Explorer 7, Yandex, Google Chrome);
  • free RAM at least 256 MB for Windows XP, 1024 MB for Vista and Windows 7;
  • the presence of a network card.

Connection diagram

Before you start changing the settings and connecting to the global network, you need to connect the modem for Rostelecom to the computer and the telephone line.

Connection diagram:

  1. Connect the Rostelecom modem using a wire through a telephone splitter.
  2. Connect the PC to the modem with a LAN cable.
  3. Plug the power cord of the device into a power outlet.

After completing all the actions, the indicators of the router should blink red or green. Which lights are on on the device when the Rostelecom modem is properly connected, you can check on the manufacturer's website. If the lamps do not light, all equipment should be checked for damage, and, if necessary, the faulty one should be replaced.

Further actions of the user should already be aimed at setting up Rostelecom equipment using ADSL technology.

Setting methods

Currently, Rostelecom subscribers have access to two ways to configure an ADSL modem:

  1. Automatic.
  2. Manual.

Both options do not take long, and do not require a lot of effort. The main thing is to follow the points of the instructions, and correctly indicate the important parameters.

But before starting work, the user needs to check if the device drivers have been installed on the computer in automatic mode. Since without them, the computer will not be able to connect to the modem. You can view the drivers in the "Device Manager". If there are no settings, the name of the router will be marked with a yellow exclamation mark.

If the drivers are not installed, you need to download them yourself. This is done using the disc that comes with the device. If the media is not present, or it is not working properly, you will need to download important files from the manufacturer's official website.

Automatic tuning

Setting up a Rostelecom modem in automatic mode is quite simple. To do this, you need to insert the disc that came with the equipment into the computer's floppy drive. Run the "Setup Wizard" program installed on it. And follow the system prompts that pop up on the PC screen.

If the disk is lost or faulty, you can download the wizard utility from the Internet. The program is provided free of charge.

After completing all the configuration steps, the Internet connection will be automatically configured. The user will only have to open any of the installed browsers and check the functionality.

Manual setting

Manual configuration of the Rostelecom ADSL modem takes a little more time. And it requires the subscriber to be careful when entering data.

Stages of changing the parameters of the Rostelecom modem (for example, QTECH QDSL-1040WU).

  1. Open the browser installed on the PC to configure the Rostelecom modem.
  2. In the line for entering the address write - 192.168.1.1.
  3. Press "Enter".
  4. In the window that appears, enter the username and password of the subscriber (they are indicated on the back of the device). For a QTECH modem, this is admin in both cases. If the standard data does not fit, it is necessary to reset the modem using the reset button located on the device case. Since it is slightly recessed inside, in order to avoid accidental pressing, an ordinary paper clip or a refill from a ballpoint pen can come to the aid of the client.
  5. Now you need to change the connection settings. To do this, select "Advanced Setup" in the left side menu, and click "Add".
  6. Specify (they depend on the region of connection).
  7. Confirm the action with the "Save" command.

Rostelecom is one of the leading providers on the Russian communications market. It is not surprising that many users prefer his services. In addition to everything, the company, along with the tariff package, also provides the basic equipment necessary for connecting to the Internet. But many people try to set access parameters on their own, which sometimes causes some difficulties. Meanwhile, if you look at it, there shouldn't be any special difficulties. Further, it is proposed to consider setting up a Rostelecom modem of any type. This instruction is useful not only for the equipment supplied directly by the company, but also for any other models of the same type.

Modem market overview

Before setting up the Rostelecom modem will be considered directly, it is necessary to focus on the equipment that will be used to organize an Internet connection at home or in the office.

What can be used at the moment? Among the most popular options, there are several main groups of devices:

  • modem routers (DSL / ADSL);
  • Ethernet modems;
  • USB modems;
  • 3G modems.

The first group is the most popular and is suitable for home or office installations. The approximate cost of the simplest model is about 800 rubles, but models with a higher rank will cost about 1,500 rubles.

USB routers have not received much distribution, although they are quite cheap. Their main problem is that very often there are situations with the "meeting" of drivers. 3G devices are mainly used in cases of moving around the city with a laptop.

Which model should you prefer?

Which of these to choose for installation at home? It seems that the best option would still be the use of modems that combine the capabilities of a router (for access via Wi-Fi) of a DSL or ADSL type.

Among the most frequently used devices are the D-Link, TP-Link, Intercross, Zyxel, etc. The settings of some of them will be discussed later.

General rules for connecting ADSL modems

As follows from the basic understanding of the ADSL technology itself, the modem uses a regular telephone line to organize access to the Internet.

When connecting a modem to it, the best option is to install a special one, which allows you to simultaneously access the Internet and make phone calls. In other words, the telephone line is not blocked, unlike a direct connection.

The connection of all devices corresponds to the sequential scheme: computer - modem - splitter - telephone line. Actually, even a child will figure it out, especially since the splitter has two slots for different cables, so it's simply impossible to confuse something.

Driver installation issues

After the entire circuit is assembled and power is connected, you need to install special control software called drivers (so that the operating system installed on the computer can initialize the device, and it, in turn, works without failures).

Standard models, as a rule, are recognized by the system automatically, and the installation of drivers does not raise any questions. If something went wrong, you can always use a special disk that should come with your modem. If you purchase a modem from a provider other than your provider, or if you don't have a disc, you can download the necessary drivers directly from the official website.

When the whole procedure is completed and the device becomes fully operational, the Rostelecom modem should be configured directly. The first step is to access the web interface of the device itself.

Enabling and Accessing the Web Interface

As a rule, for all devices, the combination 192.168.1.1 is entered in the address bar of any web browser installed on the computer. Configuring the Rostelecom modem at the first stages involves setting the correct parameters for accessing the Internet. If Wi-Fi is supported, then you will need to install these options as well.

Admin is used as the login and password that will be requested when trying to access. If for some reason the modem does not accept the entered data, it is necessary to reset all parameters by pressing the Reset button on the back of the modem and re-enter the information.

To configure any modem in the simplest case, if manual intervention is not required, you can use the disk supplied with the device, which has a specialized utility in the form of a kind of "Hardware Settings Wizard". After starting it, you just need to follow the instructions of the installer.

Configuring Rostelecom DSL modem or ADSL device

But suppose the user does not have a disk at his disposal (lost, become unusable). What to do in this case? Do not despair, since setting up any type of equipment is quite simple.

So, for Rostelecom, setting up the D-Link modem (just take it as an example) begins with setting the type of connection. It is advisable to set the value of this parameter to PPPoE and not to use the "Bridge" scheme, which can block access to the Network when the main terminal is turned off.

Next, you should manually register the VPI and VCI parameters, which must correspond to the selected region where the user is located (for Moscow, these are the values 0 and 35). These parameters should be included in the contract, but they can be found out from the technical support service, even by simply calling by phone (although they are almost always set automatically).

Next, you need to enter a registered username (PPP), specify a login, enter and confirm a password, select a service name, check the Keep Alive box and specify the values of the LCP interval and LCP dips options (15 and 2, respectively).

Finally, at the very bottom, you need to check the IGMP checkbox and save the changes made. After exiting the modem interface, you can use the Internet even without rebooting the operating system, but with the obligatory reboot of the modem (just click on the appropriate button).

Configuring the TP-Link Rostelecom modem

With devices of this series, the situation is much simpler. The fact is that the devices themselves already have, so to speak, a built-in utility called Quick Start.

In fact, setting up a TP-Link Rostelecom modem comes down to just choosing a connection mode (PPPoE), setting a time zone and entering a login with a password. In principle, what is not the same "Setup Wizard"?

The nuances of setting the parameters "Intercross"

The settings of the Intercross (Rostelecom) modem are somewhat different from those described above.

When entering the web interface, you first need to select the launch of the "Wizard", the value of the VCI parameter, set by default to 35, should be left unchanged, and for the VPI parameter, enter the value 8.

Next, PPPoE is set in the connection type, as well as the items for automatically obtaining an address (Obtain an IP address automatically) and NAT availability (Enable NAT) are marked. The address field is left blank. After that, the username and password are entered.

In the next steps, you do not have to change anything, and after viewing the information at the final step, you just need to save the settings.

Wi-Fi options

Finally, let's see what the setting of the Rostelecom WiFi modem is. In fact, such a modem can be used as an ordinary router for distributing a wireless signal.

There is nothing particularly complicated here either. Configuring the Rostelecom modem in this case involves entering the following values and parameters:

  • Authentication Type - WPAPSK.
  • Encryption - AES.
  • SSID is an arbitrary name for the connection.
  • Pre-shared Key - your own password for accessing the Wi-Fi connection.

After completing all the settings, go to the Maintenance tab and use the browse button to select the romfile.cfg file with automatic add-in parameters. This completes the setup.

Brief summary

As a result, it remains to say that setting up a Rostelecom modem of any known type is not particularly difficult. The main thing is to choose the correct parameters, which were presented in the material above.

As for the choice of equipment, when using a connection from the Rostelecom provider, ADSL devices are the best option in comparison with the same Ethernet or USB devices, which are quite limited in their capabilities.

The settings of 3G modems were not considered, since, after all, users give the main preference at home or in the office to modems that combine the functions of routers with wireless communication. Well, in terms of settings, if you advise something very simple, it is best to use the disc with the "Master", so as not to do unnecessary things. But if this is not possible, you can safely use the instructions given above.

Turn on your modem and restart your computer. The next time you start, Windows will give you a window ...

Turn on your modem and restart your computer. The next time you start Windows, you will see a window: New device detected.

Windows will try to determine by itself which modem is connected to your computer. You can specify the type of your modem yourself by selecting it from the list that will be offered to you if you check the box Do not detect the modem type (select from the list)... I recommend checking this box if the list of devices is empty when pointing to an inf file.

If the modem is not detected by Windows, then you may have errors in the ports.

Follow the instructions in the modem installer.

After the modem is installed go to "Control Panel - Modems". Find the modem you just installed, select it with your mouse cursor and click properties.

In the Maximum Speed menu, select 57600 for 28.8 and 33.6 kbps modems, 115200 for 56 kbps modems, and 115200 or higher for ISDN modems (high speed serial adapters must also suggest values 230400 and 460800). If the modem does not respond at this speed, then you need to set the speed a little lower. If even now the modem does not respond, then either you have a modem without correction / compression, or you have not connected it to the network ... :))

Go to the "Establish connection" tab and in the "cancel call if there is no connection" menu, specify the time in 45 seconds. This is enough time to establish a connection.

Close the buffer settings window and go to "Advanced". Check the boxes here: Error handling, connection stage, data compression. Data transfer control - hardware. If you have a WIN-modem, then the control is software.

This completes the modem configuration.

After the system finally installs the modem and finishes setting the parameters necessary for connecting via a telephone line, you will need to make the necessary network settings.

Required network settings

Go to the "Control Panel" and click on the "Network" icon. Go to the "Configuration" tab. Then click on the "Add" button and select "Network card" from the list of components that appears.

Select Microsoft from the list and Remote Access Controller from the available components.

The installer will go to the Windows distribution disk, from which it will copy and install the necessary files.

The network card is installed. Now click on the "Add" button again and select "Protocol". In the new window, find "Microsoft" and "TCP / IP Protocol".

The installation program will return to the Windows distribution disk. When installing TCP / IP, you need to set the necessary protocol parameters. In the network window that appears, place the cursor on the TCP / IP protocol and click the Properties button. In the "Wins configuration" tab, select "Disable Wins configuration". In the "DNS Configuration" tab, select "Disable DNS Configuration". In the Additional tab, check the box next to "Use this protocol" by default.

Configuring the network and protocols is now complete.

If you have an Adsl or USB modem, you can install it and connect to the Internet.
Next, we will figure out in order what is required to connect and how the modem is connected to the computer.

Determine what kind of modem we need

Everyone knows that the Internet contains mountains of information, that it is dangerous, there are many viruses, but when everyone is already communicating in classmates, VKontakte, they use search and the rest also want to connect to the Internet.
Buying a modem is usually just the beginning of solving the problem, since the modem needs to be installed and, as a rule, at this stage it turns out that there is no network card and needs to be bought or the modem was bought together with a new computer, but no one provides such services and needs to be bought.

A modem is a device for connecting to the Internet via a telephone line.
In the modern world, high-frequency signals are used according to different protocols, for example, 3G, 4G, ADSL2. Many people have a problem, which modem to buy and how to install it. Ask your internet service provider for advice. Find out only the supported standards.

Most used modems.
There are few pure modems now. Combined solutions with the presence of modem functions are more common.
The USB modem looks like this:

This is how the ADSL modem looks from the outside.

It has signal indicators and simple action buttons on the front. At the back there is a connection cable.

Typically, the modem is connected to a computer via a USB port or LAN port. Separately, the connection goes to the power source (to the outlet). A splitter is used to connect to the phone.

Two connectors are visible on the front. There is a separate third entry or cable on the back of this splitter. It is needed to separate the signals of the phone and the Internet. Internet speed is no more than 8 Mbps.
When choosing a modem, be guided by its advanced functions. The more, the better. Prices for modems are quite optimal, there are different price categories. Pay particular attention to the ability to maintain a connection in the event of a short-term failure. You can find out from the reviews of those who worked with the modem. Take more modern modems, for example, D-Link, it holds the network more tightly than TP-Link.

We will separately consider another way - connecting via a Dial up modem.
This is the old method of using the Internet, when there were no local networks, no large providers, and the price of the Internet could terrify even wealthy state-level companies. This is the Dial-up protocol. Most often it was supplied in the form of a board. Older computers did not have a slot for such cards, they supplied an external modem that looked and connected something like the current ADSL.

Once installed, one wrong move resulted in thousands of international negotiation bills. Installing and using such a modem can come in handy in a village where there is no other internet, or when the main provider malfunctions, and visit the website is okay. The speed of such an Internet depends on the modem, approximately 56Kbps.

Installing the modem

1. USB modem.
1.1. Let's start with the fact that after opening the packaging of the modem, we disassemble it and insert the SIM card.

1.2. We connect the modem to the USB port of a computer or laptop.

1.3. We are waiting for the automatic installation of the drivers.

1.4. Install the connection manager and check the settings.

1.5. We activate the balance, and then click the "Connect" button

2. ADSL modem.
2.1. We connect the modem to a computer or laptop.
The modem is connected to the corresponding port as mentioned above: USB or LAN.
An internal modem plugs into a PCI slot like any computer board.
Dandy consoles users will surely manage the installation, because the installation processes for the cartridge and the internal modem are very similar.

2.2. Next, the cables are connected to a tape recorder or telephone socket with multiple outputs.
The phone itself and the cable from the modem are connected to the connectors.
A big minus of modems installed inside a computer is the possibility of computer burnout due to high voltage in the telephone network.
Perhaps these are rumors, but after several computers with such modems had breakdowns, I can no longer recommend the option with an integrated modem card, but only an external modem.

Equipment setup.
For better control, we install the drivers on the modem from the disk. Access to the modem is determined by the network settings and the settings of the modem itself. First, the computer needs to define the default address definition.

2.3. Go to "Start - Control Panel" - turn on viewing by category - in the "Network and Internet" section we find "View network status" - there "Change the adapter parameter" (left column) - find the required adapter - right-click and "Properties". Now we find Internet Protocol 4 (aka TCP / IP 4). Click Properties and set automatic detection.

If you do not have a disc with step-by-step configuration, then you can enter the modem itself. This is done in the browser by entering the address 192.168.1.1.

2.4. You will get settings like this.

Tabs with parameters are visible from above and from the side. Now all that remains is to configure the ip-address, subnet mask, DNS server.
Get information about this data and other auxiliary settings from your provider.
The settings for different modems should not differ. As a last resort, read the manuals. It was in this way that modems were configured with us. It remains only to right-click on the icon in the tray and select Connect.

3. To set up Dial up we reach the View network status (see the instructions above), then at the bottom of the window, click Set up a new connection.
3.1. In the new window, select Set up a telephone connection, click next, then enter the number, username and password. This data is collected from the telephone company.
3.2. Now all that remains is to go to Network Connections (see the setup instructions Changing adapter parameters), find the required adapter (this will be the connection, it will be written on the phone line), right-click, Connect, OK.

In the figure, it remains to connect the cable and click Connect.

Operation and possible malfunctions

After connecting, you can safely use the Internet. If there is no Internet, then check the settings. It is impossible to give specific advice here, since how many providers, so many individual settings, there are many ways how to install a modem. As a last resort, call the master and remember everything he did. If the reason for the lack of the Internet is a line failure, then restart the modem. When using Dial up, follow all actions, control traffic, do not visit questionable sites.

Modems may have malfunctions that allow you to connect to the network and download information, and many users are surprised - the Internet light is on red all the time, and the download is in progress.
There are malfunctions on the part of the provider - when the light is red and there is no connection. You can check by asking friends or neighbors whether the Internet works for them, call the support service, connect a friend's modem.
