Recent downloads. Where can I find downloaded files from the Internet on my computer. Recovering AutoRecover files manually

In this lesson we will look at the classic file download situation. When you click on a link, the browser picks up the file and starts downloading it.

How to download a file in Google Chrome

It looks like this. A gray rectangle with an arrow appears for literally one second. This is how the browser lets us know that the download has started. Immediately after that, the downloaded file is placed at the bottom of the browser.

By the way, this process does not interfere with the work on the Internet in any way. That is, the file will quietly download by itself, and you can continue to work on the network at this time. Most importantly, do not close your browser, otherwise the download will be interrupted.

How to determine if a file has loaded. As I said before, when downloading, the file is placed at the bottom of the browser. When he is in the process of saving, a certain picture is shown next to him - a circle gradually filling in green.

The file size and approximate download time are also shown below the file.

How quickly a file loads depends primarily on its computer size. The smaller it is, the faster the download occurs.

Also, the download speed depends on the speed of your Internet. If the Internet is high-speed, then the download will be fast, even if the file is large.

When the file is completely saved to the computer, the picture next to it will change, and the data on its size and download time will disappear. This means that the file is "ready" and you can already work with it.

But in fact, this bottom bar under the browser, which shows downloading files, is auxiliary. That is, you can always close it by clicking on the cross in the right corner.

Then loading and already saved files will not be visible. To see them, you need to click on the small button with vertical sticks at the end of the browser address bar.

A list will open. In it, you need to click on the "Downloads" item.

The same main part will open, which shows everything that has already been downloaded and what is being downloaded at the moment.

You can click on the inscription "Delete all" and information about previously saved files will be erased (but not the files themselves!). There will be information only about those files that are loaded.

To temporarily stop the download, use the "Pause" link, and for a complete stop, "Cancel". These links are under each file that is currently being downloaded.

Note: Pausing a download may not always be able to resume it. Sometimes it is impossible to continue downloading - you have to start over.

At the beginning of the lesson, I said that, as a rule, after downloading, files go either to the Downloads folder or to the My Documents folder.

That is, you should look for them on a computer either in one or another place. Where you find them, they are saved there specifically in your case.

By the way, this very folder (exactly the one where everything is uploaded) can be opened through the browser itself. To do this, go to "Downloads" and click on the link "Open downloads folder" (on the right).

In fact, you can change the folder where everything is loaded: Settings - Show advanced settings - Location of downloaded files (in the "Downloads" part).

Now you can practice and download the file yourself. Here's a link that will start downloading the free Avast antivirus software:

How to download a file in Opera

At this point, a small rectangular bar with download information appears on the top right side of the browser on the right side.

This is how Opera informs us that the download has begun. How long it will last depends on the computer size of the downloaded file, as well as on the speed of your internet. The smaller the size and the higher the speed, the faster the file will download.

Until it is fully loaded onto your computer, you cannot use it - it simply will not open.

But this does not interfere with the use of the Internet in any way. That is, you can continue your work in the network without limiting yourself in anything. The main thing is not to close the browser, otherwise the download will be interrupted and the file cannot be opened.

How to determine if a file has downloaded. When the download had just started, a rectangle appeared with information about this process. But if after that you continue to do something on the Internet, then it hides.

This is done so that information about downloads does not interfere with your work. But the conservation process is still ongoing. And you can check its condition at any time.

In order to do this, you need to click on the gray button with the image of a circle, inside which an arrow directed downward is drawn.

This button is located at the very end of the browser address bar.

By clicking on it, the downloads window opens. It shows the files that were saved earlier, as well as the files that are being downloaded right now.

To manage these files, as well as to clear information about them, you can click on the "Details" button.

Or you can click on the Opera button in the upper left corner and select "Downloads" from the list.

An additional tab will open with which you can manage your downloads.

Each downloaded file is shown in a separate rectangle. Directly from here you can open it or open the folder in which it is located.

By the way, you can erase information about already downloaded files. To do this, click on the "Clear Downloads" button.

The files that are currently being downloaded will remain. By the way, their download can be controlled. For example, pause or cancel a download.

Note: after pausing the download, it is not always possible to resume it later. Sometimes it is impossible to continue downloading - you have to start over.

Where to find files after downloading. Earlier, I already told you where to find downloaded files on your computer. Let me remind you if they are located either in the Downloads folder or in My Documents.

But you can change this location - then the files will be automatically saved to another folder when downloading.

To do this, click on the Opera button in the upper left corner, select the "Settings" item from the list and specify a different folder in the "Downloads" section.

Now you can practice and download the file yourself. Here's a link that will start downloading the free Avast antivirus software:

All this detailed information is closed just like a normal browser tab.

In general, those files that are being loaded at the moment can be managed without opening anything else. Because immediately after the download starts, another button appears at the end of the smart line.

If you just hover over it, you will see information about the status of the loading process. And if you click on it, a small window with different settings will appear.

After the file is downloaded to your computer, this button will change its appearance - it will become a file icon. Now by clicking on it, the saved file will open.

Note: how fast the download is going depends on the size of the particular file, as well as on the speed of the Internet. The smaller the size and the higher the speed, the faster the download will take place.

Usually downloaded files go to the Downloads folder or to My Documents.

But you can also open it directly from the browser. To do this, click on the download button and click on the desired file. And if you want to open the folder in which it is located, then hover over the file and click on the small button with the arrow.

How to download a file in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer does a poor job of downloading files. Very often, files do not open at all after downloading.

Therefore, I recommend that you start using another browser. For example, the Google Chrome program. This browser is free and for many reasons (not just downloads) it is much better than Internet Explorer.

By clicking on the download link, Internet Explorer immediately displays a window in which it offers to open the file (execute, run) or save it on the computer. This window is usually located at the bottom of the browser.

To save to your computer, you need to click on the "Save" button. After that, the program will start downloading the file.

Perhaps before this Internet Explorer will offer to choose a place where to put this file after downloading. In this case, select the desired folder or leave everything as it is and click on the "Save" button in the window.

After downloading, the window will say that the download is complete. The file can be viewed immediately by clicking on the "Open" button (run, run), or open the folder in which it lies.

Typically, all downloaded files go to the Downloads or My Documents folder. There you should look for them.

Or you can set the save location yourself. To do this, click on the button with the gear image in the upper right corner of the browser. Then select the item "View downloads" from the list.

In the window that opens, you can see what was downloaded and where it was saved. To change the folder into which the files will be uploaded, you need to click on the "Options" label (below).

Also, directly from this window, you can open saved files, open the folder in which they are located, and erase information about all downloads (the "Clear list" button).

Now you can practice and download the file yourself. Here is a link to the file with the free Avast antivirus program:

Have you downloaded a file to your computer from the Internet and can't open it because you can't find it? Let's consider how the functionality of searching and managing downloaded files works in browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome.

To search for downloads in Mozilla Firefox, click on the arrow icon - the download panel will open. In the window that appears, you see the last three downloaded files, and to view all downloads, activate the item "Show all downloads". Open the required download by double-clicking on the file. If the list of downloads is cleared, but you remember exactly that you downloaded the file through the smear, refer to the "Settings" window on the "General" tab. Look at the path to save files in the downloads section. Next, find your file in the "Downloads" folder, following the prompts. In Mozilla Firefox, by default, this is where Internet downloads go. In the Opera web browser, similar to Mozilla Firefox, downloads are opened through the Downloads panel, which is located in the upper right corner. Click on the arrow - you will see a list of recent downloads. Click "More" - all "Downloads" will open. Pay attention to its functionality. The presence of active buttons "Open" and "Show in folder" greatly simplifies the work with files downloaded from the network. By default, all downloads through the opera go to the "downloads" folder - this is also prompted by the address bar of the main "Downloads" window. Downloads in Google Chrome, as opposed to muff and opera, are at the bottom and are highlighted during the download process. Open the downloaded file by clicking on it through the pop-up download panel. By default, files are saved to the Documents library in the Downloads folder - use this information if the panel is out of sight.

Files, ay! Every user of a personal computer at least once in his life downloaded a file from the Internet. It can be text, image, audio recording, video file. After selecting and downloading the necessary information, an inexperienced user then looks for a long time for the place where the files are saved.

He looks through the contents of several dozen folders in the hope of finding the downloaded material, but, having wasted precious time - not a single file was found - he gives up this tedious task and comes to the conclusion that the download of the necessary material has not been possible.

In fact, if during the download of files the system was operating normally and the anti-virus protection did not signal a threat of infection, and information about the completion of the download process appeared, then the file was downloaded successfully. Now you just need to find it.

As a rule, all novice users download information from the Internet using a browser - a program for viewing Internet pages. Most common browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari. More advanced users use special programs to download files. However, both the browser and the program download the files by default to a specific location.

Search instructions

If the user downloads files using the Internet Explorer browser, which is included by default in the Windows operating system, then you need to search for the downloaded file as follows:

  • for Windows XP: C: \ Documents and Settings \ Username \ My Documents \ Downloads,
  • for Windows 7: C: \ Users \ Username \ Downloads.

It should be noted that these places are not very convenient for storing downloaded information, since they are located on the C drive, that is, in the same place as the operating system. In the event of a failure of its work and the need to reinstall, all contents of these folders will be permanently deleted. Optionally, in order to prevent this, you can create a special folder for all downloads and configure your browser to upload files to this particular folder.

Even before downloading the file in this browser, you can save the file to a convenient location by clicking on the "Save As" button. In the newly opened window, select the required folder and click "Save". If the "Save" button was pressed right away, then the question: "Where was the file saved?" - you can decide as follows: go to the browser settings, select the line "View downloads", and among the entire list of uploaded records at different times, you can find the latest information.

When using the Opera browser to download files, proceed in the same way. But with the Mozilla Firefox browser, the situation is a little more complicated. In this case, to search for the downloaded information, you need to find the "Tools" column in the browser menu, and in it select the "Downloads" line and find the required file in this window. Google Chrome stores downloaded information in its control panel located at the bottom of the page, or you can find it in the list by selecting the “Downloads” line in the “Settings” item.

Temporary files and programs

If the file was downloaded using the Torrent program, then it can be found in the "My Documents" folder or in the "Downloads" folder, or you can independently set the location of the downloaded file by going to the program settings.

Almost all novice users are also interested in the question of where temporary files are stored. It will depend on their characteristics. For example, temporary files of any programs are automatically saved on the hard disk where the operating system is located: C drive - Documents and Settings folder - Username folder - Local Settings folder - Temp folder. This is if you have the installed Windows XP program. For Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the search will look a little different: drive C - folder "Users" - folder "Username" - "Local Settings" - "Temp".

You can easily find temporary browser files by following the following chain: drive C: \ users \ Username \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Browser name. If the file has not been found, but at least a few words from its name remain in memory, then you can use the usual Windows search through the Start menu.

Many novice users are faced with a situation when they save a necessary file from the Internet, and then cannot find it. If you have experienced this, then this article is for you. Let's take a look at where internet explorer stores files, as well as how to change the folder in which the downloads will be stored.

File search

Typically, when downloading using a Microsoft browser, the user is asked where the file should be located. If the user ignores this message, the internet explorer will decide for himself the location of the download, in accordance with its format. So, text files can be defined in Documents, graphic files - in Pictures, media - in Music.

If we talk about where internet explorer downloads files, which can be potentially dangerous, then they are usually placed in a temporary folder, from where they are copied to where specified. The programs can subsequently be found in the Downloads section. Usually, if several documents are saved, then the browser asks about the location of their saving only the first time. Subsequently, the application automatically routes all downloads in this session to this address. If you want to download an image to your computer, then right-click on it, then select Save Image As. The graphic file will be automatically sent to the Pictures folder.

In case you still did not pay attention to where internet explorer downloads files, you can use the following method to find them. Go to Start. Here, look through the folders Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures in turn. If you know the name of the file, then use the search box. In the case when you do not want to wonder where internet explorer downloads and where to find the necessary documents later, set the path for the browser where the downloads will be located.

How to set a different folder

Launch the browser and go to the Service menu. Here we find the item View downloads, which must be clicked on. The same menu can be invoked by pressing the combination Ctrl + J. As a result of these actions, a window will open in front of us, in which it is possible to view and track downloads.

At the bottom, we find the Settings link. In them, click on the Browse folder. Next, select the folder in which you want to save the documents. It can be anywhere on your computer. You can also create a dedicated folder, position it on your Desktop, and mark it as a download folder. Creating a folder is as easy as creating a folder. In this case, you do not have to puzzle over where the internet explorer downloads save and waste time searching for them.

Boot Problems

In the end, I would like to note some problems that may arise when downloading files via internet explorer. So, if the download takes too long, then the problem may be in the low connection speed. Also, spyware may be activated on your computer, which you need to find and remove using antivirus. For example, you can learn how to remove a Trojan from your computer.

So, we have determined where internet explorer saves and how to set the folder for this ourselves. As you can see, everything is quite simple, therefore it is also available for novice users. Remember that it is recommended to download files only from trusted websites, as there is a risk of infecting your computer with malware. Recent versions of Internet Explorer can determine the authenticity of an electronic signature if it is contained in a file. To do this, click on the publisher link in the download security window. If the electronic signature did not pass the authentication check, then it is better not to open the document itself, but to completely delete it from the computer.

Having downloaded a file for the first time to his smartphone or tablet, a novice user wonders where to find it now? After all, having just started using a mobile device, he still does not know where the files are downloaded to Android. In this article, we will try to find this place.

Where are the uploaded files located on Android

The Android operating system uses a folder named Download... The Download folder, as a rule, is located in the root directory of the internal memory accessible to the user. If it is installed on a smartphone (tablet), then the system can also be used for downloaded files. The path for it can be specified in the settings of the application that downloads the files.

To find the downloaded files, you need to install any file manager on your smartphone (tablet).

If you did not find an object downloaded from the network in the Download folder, then the application probably created its own folder and saved the file to it. For example, the UC Browser uploads files to its own folder called UCDownloads.

You can change the location for downloaded files in your browser settings.

Open the application settings, select the item " »And specify the folder where the files downloaded by the browser will be placed.
