Requirements for article formatting

1. Articles are accepted for publication in the following languages: rus, eng, ger, kaz, ukraine, white. The volume of the article is at least 3 pages of typewritten text. The originality of the text must be at least 70%. If, when checking an article by the content-watch.ru service, the percentage of the author’s text is below 70%, then the article is returned to the author for revision and will not be published until the comments on the originality of the text are eliminated.

   It is not recommended to use methods to bypass anti-plagiarism: formula words, replacing Russian letters with Latin ones, etc. These violations are detected using software and the article is returned for revision

2. The article must not have been previously published, and must not be submitted for consideration and publication in another publication.
3. To type text, formulas and tables you must use Microsoft editor Word for Windows. Before typing, make the following settings: text editor: margins 2 cm; font Times New Roman, size - 14; line spacing - 1.5; width alignment; paragraph indent 1 cm; sheet orientation - portrait. Drawings made in MS Word are not accepted. All figures and tables must be numbered and provided with titles or captions.
4. Header design:(uppercase, bold letters, aligned to the center of the line) ARTICLE TITLE; on next line(font bold italic, right aligned) - Full name ; on the next line (italic font, right aligned) - student, undergraduate, name of the department or faculty, name of the university or college (in full), country, city (abbreviations are not allowed); on the next line (italic font, right aligned) Email for contacts. If the article was written jointly with a scientific supervisor, he must be indicated as a co-author- Full name; on the next line (italic font, right aligned) - academic degree, academic title, name of department or faculty, name of university or college, country, city after 1 line - the text of the article. If the article is formatted with an annotation and keywords, the Requirements for registration from the section of scientific conferences apply.
5. References required. Designed in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5 – 2008 in alphabetical order (). References in the text should be in square brackets to the corresponding source of the reference list, for example. The use of automatic pagination links is not permitted.

Always be ready to promptly help the journalist: provide the necessary facts, information, statistics, commentary. Ask how much time you have to prepare a comment, in what form it will be published (in direct speech or indirect), whether a manager’s comment is needed, a link to additional sources, specify the timing of the publication of the material, the collection of information. All this will help you quickly respond to journalist requests.

Don't force things

When sending a letter to the editor, you should not expect an immediate response. Allow at least 2-3 days to receive feedback and, in case of silence, contact again. If there is no answer here, there is no need to continue knocking on a closed door. This means that they simply weren’t interested in your proposal, and it makes sense to turn to another media outlet.

No matter how accurately the PR specialist works from an organizational point of view, if the article is not inherently interesting, you can’t count on it.

The content created should be aimed at a wide audience. The article should not be written solely for the sake of PR. The primary factor is the benefit the reader can derive. The publication is more willing to print a story or share with the audience a selection of tips on a specific topic. If you manage to create truly interesting content for a specialized magazine, then there is a high probability that the article will be published.

FAQ. How to write a good article, submit it to a journal and get published

In this post, I use my experience working in Popular Mechanics, as well as my experience in writing articles for the magazines World of Fantasy, What's New in Science and Technology, SportFacilities, Technology for Youth, Bulletin of Aeronautics and etc. I hasten to note that I once got a job at Popmekh, simply by writing several articles there, observing all the requirements that I set out in this material.

First, I want to stipulate that a competent, well-written and intelligently designed article, if not accepted immediately, will at least be considered by any magazine - “Story”, “Science and Life”, “Cosmopolitan”, and “Gaming”. The only magazines where you should not write at all are completely translated publications. In order to find out whether a magazine is one of these, you need to open it and see if among the authors of articles (not news, not columns, not notes - they are usually written by editorial staff - namely full-length articles) there are Russian names. If not, the magazine is translated, it’s not worth the trouble.

Bottom line

To summarize, I will repeat once again: the article must necessarily correspond to the journal in which it was written. If the article is properly formatted, written without factual errors and on a topic of interest to the journal, then it will at least be considered. Whether they will accept it or not is a subjective question. But believe me: 95% of submitted articles are not published precisely because of an initially illiterate approach.
