Free monitoring system The Dude from Mikrotik.

I want to start a cycle of articles about the monitoring system from Mikrotik by name The Dude. Translated by S. of English language DUDE. I do not know what principle the developers called the monitoring system, but apparently wanted to bring a little humor, which would not be so boring.

I want to immediately warn the copy-pasters and plagiarists, when copying and placing these materials, reference to the author and the site, mandatory. For lazy, author Vitaly (obsessions) - Tranz-it.net. Â

Let's start disassembled in more detail. Since I am a remote company employee, and maintain remote servers and systems, and I do not have direct physical contact with the equipment, I needed a monitoring system.

Chose in many criteria:

1. Free, i.e. Open Source.

2. The ability to deploy various systems those. Crosplelatform

3. Simplicity initial setting

4. not trampling like Monsters Nagios, Cacti, Zabbix

5. Intuitive interface

6. Without financial investments (make something from iron)

7. Minimum time

8. Expandable functionality

9. Scalable

10. Incomitant to resources

11. Monitoring based on standard tools all OS families (SNMP, TCP, etc.) without the use of agents

12. Typification of auto-stage-based devices

13. On board was Syslog-Server

14. The main thing -> network maps with the ability to manually build cards.

15. Main -> Running programs on a remote machine with transmission of contextual parameters

16. Built-in language for writing polling functions

17. Alerts by e-mail and SMS and others.

18. Use standard software on the working PC Dto connect to servers

Well, it seems to have missed anything. Thus, monitoring systems are such as Nagios, Cacti, Zabbix discarded immediately for many reasons, I do not even want to list. For a very long time I went through a bunch of software, and even feared and even terribly paid, but it did not fit me, as it did not want to pay, because we need to get rid of small blood.

And when I started using the Mikrotik equipment, and put myself at home instead of Draytek, Mikrotik RB800 + 816, I came across a beautiful thing, it free system Monitoring The Dude. I was very surprised that the company provides this development for free (the 1st item is satisfied). Many will wipe the mud and say that the dude garbage and so on, the taste and color of the comrade is not. But still I will continue.

The system can be installed both on Linux and on Windows, but best this system Works under its OS - Routeros.

The monitoring system itself for different platforms can be downloaded from the official site of Mikrotik.com. Also on the official website you can try the demo mode, according to the link above, the IP address is specified, after downloading and installing The Dudee (it is both the client and the server, i.e. everything is in one bottle, but only for Windows and Linux ) You can connect and watch the test grid using the Admin login and without a password.

I will describe a little sad experience of installing under Linux and Windows, only briefly, which found shoals and bugs, but maybe it was just me, please do not kick much. Installation on the axis Windows Server Or Windows XP with a unlocked number of TCP sessions, failed, with an increase in the number of monitoring devices, the stack of sockets was overwhelmed, and the server began to slowly slow down, it was impossible to go on RDP and it all started to reboot, after some time it was repeated. With Linux, as such, there were no problems, because The Windows and Linux sockets seem to be, but in Linux it works a little friend, and the overflows were not unprecedented, although at large and frequent queries on the TCP / IP protocol sockets were overloaded, but it happened very rarely, and helped again a banal reboot of the system. A minus to everything in Linux monitoring can work through Wine, and is not automatically prescribed to autoload, but with small manipulations you can do it, but it is not to run away from Wine.

Therefore, I still chose the Routeros native system to install the monitoring system, and installed it on virtual virtualBox machine. After that, through the Winbox graphics utility connected to Routeros. IP Address (IP -> Addresses - [+]), Gateway (IP -> Routes -> [+]), Well, DNS (for oil on local DNS Serverm)

From offsight Download .npk monitoring system file, in Winbox Open the Files menu item and throw it with drag-and-drop (mouse transfer) after which I restart the system (System -> Reboot -> Yes)

Everything, after rebooting the system, the monitoring system is installed on Routeros.

For Windows Servers All trivially, when you definitely indicate the checkbox item Server Files, and everything else is your taste.

Now on the working PC (if these are Windows), we set the same file The Dude only to remove the checkbox from the Server Files item if Linux is installed using Wine and run the client. For more clarity, I set the test version of The Dude on Virtual windows Machinewhich will be both the server and the client.

After, you need to enter the IP address of our virtual or server in the server field, where the dude is installed, the mode is safe, the port is 2211, the username is admin, the password field is empty, and click the Connect button. I have registered Localhost, because My server is installed on the fading machine. After the connector, the automatic survey window will immediately be displayed. local network based on IP addresses operating system on which the dude is installed. For the first test you can click to poll, and you see how the system polls all the IP addresses of your local network, and all the devices found on the card will add all the devices. (Paragraph 12 - satisfied)

I did not, and pressed the cancellation, because I myself will control the process of adding devices to the card, and even more so the Dudee system itself is not configured.

First you need to configure the system itself. In fact, all the monitoring system settings are very intuitive and understandable, but I will scatter more deployed, and the ladies have several recommendations that I revealed in a consequence of using this system. Accordingly, we go to the settings:

And see the following:

Section: General

In the General tab, it is immediately seen that something, the truth with sending email arises many problems, but you can solve them. Thus, a server DNS server is configured on the main tab to search for devices for monitoring and setting up sending to email.

Section: SNMP.

SNMP POLING is configured in the picture above, i.e. SNMP profiles for which data from devices will be collected. The profile includes a community, port and version. My Tip: Use different SNMP profiles for different networks, and different agents if you have a distributed network. In order to more aesthetic, than practical. Be sure to specify comments to all points where it is possible to do, since you will then be much easier to navigate.

At this stage, the default SNMP profile is Public version 1, which will be used automatically to all networks and devices. You can choose your or create your own and install it by default. The Dude supports all three versions of the SNMP protocol. (Paragraph 11 - mostly satisfied)

Section: Poll

It is very important to stop on this tab.

The most interesting tab in my opinion. And very dangerous. I will say right away: the smaller the "Protecting Interval" parameter is less, and the parameter of the testing timeout "and" The number of probes ... "is more, the more load on the monitoring system and the more required system resources From iron. My tip: The "Protecting Interval" parameter set more (it all depends on the number of devices) at the first stage about 5-10 minutes, and, accordingly, the more devices you will monitor, this parameter is proportionally a little need to increase. The parameter "Timeout sensing" must be put less, but not equal to zero, I put for about a second 2-3. The parameter "The number of probes in the state" does not work "" I put approximately 2. Why two, the more probes you have in monitoring the device itself (i.e., for example, monitoring CPU, DNS, Telnet, SSH, http, etc. ) The larger the load on the monitoring system is increasing, so I try to rationally spend the resources of iron on which the monitoring system is. Proverb - savings should be economical.

Well alerts, this is a section where you can configure a warning system as a soul Âââââââââââââââââââ а no action on devices. You can add to alert playback sound Files, or send SMS, or sending a letter. For example, it is necessary to play a pig squeaver when the server is turned off, and I sit even in another room already know, for some reason my server turned off, probably my son pressed the button threads on the server system. Or, for example, to withdraw employees of IT department, the sound of funeral Masha, when the server 1c cut off, whatever they knew that an accountant would come soon, and the chief head would be alternately to bury them in the Komorka of the System Administrator. Thus, in this monitoring system, you can flexibly configure the system alerts of IT department employees, up to an output to a separate card monitor, for visual display of all network nodes, which will make any sounds. (Paragraph 17 is satisfied)

Section: Server

In this section, you can specify ports to which you can connect to the monitoring system, by default, a regular connection to the monitoring server The Dude - 2210, secure 2211. You can set your ports, only when connected it will be necessary to point to which port to connect. You can also specify networks from which you can connect to the monitoring server, the default is allowed to connect to all networks. You can add multiple networks, click the down arrow. And the monitoring system in itself will write firewall rules on access to the monitoring system. Gas

Wow, and even the web interface is there, to stick it, which can work as 80 ports and SSL, well, not the beauty of Lee, the truth over the SSL port must first generate the certificate and transfer to the monitoring system in the Files section of the left menu. I think that this section should not have problems, everything is very clear.

Section: Agents

This section indicates and configure agents, for distributed monitoring remote networks. As an agent, Dude servers are specified as the main version as the main one, which we customize now. (Paragraph 9 - satisfied)

Section: Syslog.

(Paragraph 13 - satisfied)

In the schlog server, we can enable it, set the port, and add a bunch of profiles for devices that will make logs to our server, and you can also distribute that each server would dump your logs to your file (section Logs in the left monitoring system menu where you can configure how many landfills system magazines And for different devices).

Section: Card

In this section, you can configure the visual display of objects on the map (this is the background, Appearance Devices, network type, subcarpet type, type of statics, etc.)

Section: Chart

It is configured how long to save graphs and the history of charts, the initial storage size is specified, and the color range is indicated for the diagrams mapping. Regarding the story, I did not touch anything and left as it is, only changed the font, whatever it would be clear what is written in the diagram.

The remaining partitions are not so important to start, but you can play with the settings, but only carefully. :)

After that, press the "OK" button. You can say that the system is configured.

Let's summarize

1. Free, i.e. Open Source - free

2. The ability to deploy on various systems i.e. Crosplapprament - crosplelatform

3. Easy initial setup - I think everything will agree that it is not difficult to set up

4. not trampling like Monsters Nagios, Cacti, Zabbix - Yes, it's just 3.9 megabytes

5. Intuitive interface - For me, well, very (IMHO)

6. Without financial investments (make something from iron) - virtual machine

7. Minimum time "To be honest to me to set up the system managed in 20 minutes

8. Expandable functionality - It will later describe

9. Scalability - yes Mashabiruham, at the expense of small agents on the same system of The Dude

10. Incomitant to resources - Virtuet 1CPU, RAM 512 MB, HDD-Routeros 1 GB, HDD-DUDE 8 GB, ÂÂÂÂÂ loading virtual CPU 34% subject to monitoring 41 devices (Iron Intel Desktop Board DN2800MT)

11. Monitoring based on standard tools of all OS families (SNMP, TCP, etc.) without using agents - Yes, monitoring without agents

12. Typification of auto-stage-based devices - there is

13. On board was Syslog-Server - There is not bad, and it works

14. The main thing -> network maps with the ability to manually build cards. - Yes, there are cards, and very flexible (there is a minus, it is fine and manually configure the display of data of each device)

15. Main -> Running programs on a remote machine with transmission of contextual parameters (There is, the main brain and hands on the right place)

16. Built-in language for writing polling functions (very flexible - there is)

17. Alerts by e-mail and SMS and others. (there is)

18. Using standard programs on the working PC D to connect to servers (where the soul lies, I use Linux Mint + The Dude Client + Remmina + mini scripts)

In the next article I will describe how to add the device to the card and configure monitoring.

Some time ago I started my acquaintance with a fairly convenient and functional means of network monitoring from the company Mikrotik. - The Dude.. The thing is not an easy and complete understanding of its possibilities will take a lot of time. But some idea I have already begun to form. Therefore, now a little practice work with The Dude.
It all starts with installation. Rather, the first difficulties begin with the installation. The fact is that before this program There was a "thing in myself", combining the client and server. Now everything is more convenient and more difficult at the same time - we have a separate lightweight client, which can be put in a minute and reach the server part, which can be anywhere ... where there are Router Os.. At first I was delighted, it's perfect, because The Dude is just a separate plugin for Mikrotik routers. That is, we update the firmware on the router, download the server part, and it would seem, here it is happiness. But no.
The dude server is put on a rather limited the lineup glands - on architecture Tile (CCR, Cloud Core Router), Arm (CRS3XX, RB3011, RB1100AHX4), X86. (RB230, x86.), MMIPS. (RB750GR3.). Thus, the owners of the most common MIPSBE. Solutions suck paw. This, for obvious reasons, points NetMetal, WAP, Sextant etc., routers hAP / MAP / ETC., modifications based on RB2011 And then on the list. Pain and suffering. What to do? The solution lies in the magic abbreviation X86. - We will put Routeros on your iron.
In just just a case for this we need Oracle Vm VirtualBox. and Router OS distribution from Mikrotik CD Image. , relevant at the time of writing the article - on top of which we will deliver THE DUDE SERVER. .
Note. In the Distribution by .ISO-image will already be pre-installed server part Duda.
Now about the installation process. By itself to start set VirtualBox.. With him everything relatively easy - further, then and once again. Now about creating a virtual machine.
Packing on creating and follow the steps offered.
1. We specify the name of the virtual and its type. Type will be Linux 2.6 / 3.x / 4.x (32-bit)

2. We indicate the volume random access memorywhich will have our virtual

3. Hard virtuals. Choose new virtual hard disk.

4. We ask as a type of hard VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image.)

5. I choose the storage format dynamic virtual hard drive.

6. We ask the name of our hard and its size.

7. As a result, we get such a virtual one:

8. Now you need to go to the settings and set up Net. Requires to create network Bridge (Bridge) With a real network card.

That's all. It remains to mount the image mikrotik-X.XX.X.ISO. (At the time of reading the article, the version is clearly not the one that is presented on the link above).

Excellent, run the virtual and follow the steps of the installation wizard, that is, choose the installation of all components and further. Installation is completed, unmount .iso-image and load from virtual hard. Loading is complete, but our virtual microtic has no connection with any other than the Internet. His interface ether1 You need to configure. You can do this from the Virtual Console, if you are friends with the terminal commands.
And if not, then everything is not difficult again. We need a program WINBOX. (downloaded from the offsite of Mikrotik). If at least one piece of iron is under the control of Routeros, this program is available on your workshop.
Run WINBOX. And open the tab Neighbors.. It may be displayed far from one device, but we are interested in something without an IP address and with the inscription x86. In the Board column. It is chosen, user admin and without a password.

Next, we need to ask an IP. What? From the pool that distributes the router to which the machine is connected to the VirtualBox. Suppose this pool 192.168.88.0/24 , the car receives 192.168.88.90, and our X86 will be 192.168.88.100 that we will set in the section IP > Addresses.:

3.1. Menu system settings

A logical step after installing the system will configure the system parameters to be discussed in this section. The transition to the system settings menu is performed by pressing the "Settings" button on the main panel ( see Figure 3.1).

Settings made in the system settings menu will be applied by default when adding devices. However, when adding devices, you can specify the personal parameters that will be applied to the device or device group. Personal settings Devices have priority over system settings.

3.1.1 SNMP Setup

The SNMP tab is configured to configure the details for the device survey. The setup is a system of profiles in which the following parameters are specified ( see Figure 3.2):

 • SNMP version;
 • SNMP details (the set of details depends on the version used);
 • Number of survey attempts;
 • Pause between survey attempts.

The default system added three profiles. Add a profile that will use within the framework of the article and choose it as a default profile:

3.1.2 Survey Setup

Tab " Polling"Is responsible for setting up the device survey ( see Figure 3.4). The following parameters are located on the tab:

ParameterDefault valueDescription
Enable yes Enable / disable device polling.
PROBE INTERVAL 30s. The interval with which the device survey will be made.
Probe Timeout. 10s. The interval, during which the system will expect the response from the device after sending a request.
PROBE DOWN COUNT. 5 The number of requests, in the absence of answers to which the system will consider the device inaccessible. In the DUDE interface, the available devices are highlighted with green color, inaccessible - red, partially available - orange.
Notification log to syslog. Method of alerts on changing the status of the device. Configuring alerts is discussed in section 3.3.

3.1.3 Setting the agents

In the tab " Agents."The selection of agents through which the device will be surveyed. Since this section of the menu configuration is configured by default to devices, the agent setting in this section is appropriate only with a diagram when most network devices are available through the agent device.

3.1.4 Setting up the logging server

Dude can act as a syslog server as recording logs independently and taking data on logs directly from devices. In order for the devices to send the logs to the DUDE syslog server, you must perform the appropriate settings on the end devices.

The syslog server configuration is performed on the tab " Syslog."In the system settings menu ( see Figure 3.6). The administrator can configure the following parameters:

3.1.5 Card Setting

On the tab " Map"The display settings for new maps will be applied by default. The configuration of each card can be changed individually ( see section 3.4).

3.1.6 Setting graphs

The configuration of the parameters of displaying graphs of the respondents of devices is performed on the tab " Charts."In the system settings menu ( see Figure 3.8). The graph of adding graphs is discussed in section 5.3.

3.1.7 Configuring reports

DUDE sections in which the data is displayed as a list (for example, a list of devices in the system), allow you to unload this data in the format *. cSV. and *. pDF.. Setting up information unloading parameters in *. pDF. Performed in the "Report" tab of the system settings menu ( see Figure 3.9).

3.1.8 Configuring devices

One of the methods for adding devices to the monitoring system is the authorization of devices. General settings The mechanism is executed on the tab " Discovery."Menu system settings ( see Figure 3.10).

Key search options are set when searching for the search procedure ( see section 4.2), however this menu The administrator can perform the following settings:

ParameterDescription
Black List. The name of the list of devices that will not be added to the monitoring system when hitting the scan range.
Name Preference. The parameter responsible for naming devices when adding them to the system. For example, if DNS is specified, the name assigned to this device on the DNS server will be used.
Mode. Device scanning method:
 • fast Ping. - devices will be added to the system if they answered the Ping command;
 • reliable All devices will be scanned. This method is convenient if the device for some reason does not respond to ping.
Recursive Hops. Number of recursive hops. If the scanning displays the devices to which other networks will be connected, then these networks will also be scanned for devices. The parameter determines the depth of the network scanning.
BIGGEST NETWORK SIZE ALOW HOP TO Maximum network size displayed on the map. The parameter determines the depth of the network as the number of hops.
Advanced Action set performed when adding a device.
Services. List of services scanned when adding devices. When choosing mode =.reliablethe list of services to check will be taken from this list.
Device Types. The list of types of devices that will be recognized when adding. The type of device affects the icon that will be attached to the device on the network map.
ITEM PLACEMENT SETTINGS Settings for the device icon on the network map.

3.1.9 Connection Connection with Routeros

Connection settings with devices on which Routeros is installed, configured on the tab " Routeros.” (see Figure 3.11).

3.1.10 Other DUDE settings

On the tab " MISC"The menu of system parameters is configured to set the network card update and the client application behavior ( see Figure 3.12).

Dude has two sections in which you can track the history of the changes manufactured in the system ( see Figure 3.13) and log list ( see Figure 3.14). Sections are located in the left system control menu and, since visualized as a list, can be unloaded as the report, in formats *. cSV. and *. pDF..

In chapter " History.Actions"Reflect all the changes that the administrator produced in the DUDE system. In chapter " Logs."Reflect all the logs taken on the built-in syslog server and the logic of the monitoring system itself.

3.3 Setting alerts

Configuration of alert methods about the events arising from the section " Notifications"In the left system management menu ( see Figure 3.15).

A multiple alert methods are preset in the system, the administrator can form its set. Create a new method of alert by clicking on the button " + ". The new alert configuration menu opens ( see Figure 3.16),on the tab " GENERAL"You must specify the alert name, enable or disable it and set the alert method. The system supports the following alert methods:

Alert methodDescription
beep. Playback of the audio signal.
email Sending email letters.
execute Locally Execution of the script on the PC on which the client application is running.
execute On Server Execution of the script on the DUDE server.
flash. Flashing the client application window on the taskbar.
group. Combination from other alert methods.
log. Creating a log recording on a DUDE server.
popup. Pop-up window.
sound. Play the specified audio file.
sPEAK. Convert text alert and playback (performed by Windows).
syslog. Creating a log record on a remote syslog server.

In the alert method created, select the GROUP method and select alert through the popup window and local recording in a log ( see Figure 3.16). The system allows you to check by creating test notificationby clicking the button " Test”.

On the tab " Schedule."The alert time is configured ( see Figure 3.17).

On the tab " Advanced"Event configuration is performed by which the alerts and configuration of repeated alerts will be formed. Events look like changing device service statuses ( see Figure 3.18).

3.4 Setting up network card

The use of the card allows you to visualize the network scheme, which is convenient when diagnosing some problems, since the statuses and indicators of the monitors of devices online are displayed on the map.

The administrator can create multiple cards with various parameters, for example, you can create separate cards for the network of each city. In addition to the convenience of display, each card allows you to use a unique profile of polls and alerts that will be applied to all devices located on the map.

Each card has two layers: communication channels and dependencies. Using the device dependency layer " dependencies."Allows you to form a network hierarchy that affects alerts.

The default map creates " Local", The opening of the card is performed through left menu system management ( see Figure 3.19).

The network card menu is the menu bar with the main controls and directly the card itself. The following items may be placed on the map ( see Figure 3.19):

Map elementDescription
Device. The network device for which its status and respondents will be displayed.
Network Network image. Not an interactive element that serves to draw a network scheme.
Submap. Link to another map with display of statistical information on devices.
Static. Static object serving to draw a network schema.
LINK. Channel communication between network devices.
Dependency. Dependence between network devices. The use of dependencies allows the formation of a hierarchy, which can be used in the formation of alerts. The element is available only on the layer " dependencies.”.

In order to go to the map settings menu, you must click the button " Settings"On the Map menu panels ( see Figure 3.19). For the map you can perform the following settings:

3.5 Files

You can change DUDE standard icons Devices, sound alerts and expand the MIB set. In addition, to update device firmware, it is necessary that the files with these firmware be present in the monitoring system. For these purposes, the menu section provides " Files.” (see Figure 3.20).

Editing directory with files via the client application is not available from Ver.6.37, but the files can be downloaded / deleted by the following methods:

 • WINBOX;
 • Webfig;
 • SFTP.

Upload the firmware file through Winbox to the directory " dude /files."And check the availability of a file via the client application ( see Figure 3.20).

3.6 Tool Settings

When calling context menu For each of the devices will be proposed quick Start Dialing tool for control and diagnostics. A set of these tools is configured in the section " Tools."The left system management menu ( see Figure 3.21).

The system is pre-installed in the default tool kit, consisting of:

ToolLimitationDescription
Bandwidth Test only for Routeros Launch Test Utility bandwidth On the selected device.
Dude. only for Routeros Connect to a DUDE server.
FTP. Connecting to the FTP server by the IP address of the selected device.
Ping. Running the Ping utility with the IP address of the selected device.
Remote Connection only for Routeros Run the connection utility to the destination through the selected device.
Snmpwalk. Launch OID survey utility via SNMP for the selected device.
Spectral Scan. only for Routeros Run the spectrum scan utility on the selected device.
Telnet Run Telnet utility with the IP address of the selected device.
Terminal only for Routeros Running utility command line On the selected device.
Torch. only for Routeros Launch Torch utility on the selected device.
Traceroute. Run the traceroute utility with the IP address of the selected device.
Web. Opening the selected device via the Web browser.

In addition to the default toolkit, the administrator can add others. The list does not launch the Winbox tool, add it. To do this, press the key " + "And in the menu that opens, write a command that runs WinBox ( depends on the location of the executable file) and give the command as the device's IP address parameter ( for example, the command may look like this: "D: \\ Distrib \\ winbox.exe”) (see Figure 3.22). In the example of the example, only the device's IP address is transmitted as a parameter, but the system allows you to transfer many other parameters, such as login and password.

3.7 Setting functions

Data for building graphs ( see section 5.3) and monitoring are formed based on the set of functions located in the menu section " Functions” (see Figure 3.23).

By default, the system created a set of logical functions, polling functions, data transformation, mathematical operations, etc. In addition to the standard administrator can create a set of functions that can be a combination of standard functions or perform operations other than them. For example, there is a function to survey the processor load level, and you can invert it and remove the level of free resources.

The standard feature function includes a function. cPU ()which returns the processor boot level. Add a feature that returns TRUE if the download value central processor less than 5% and false if the download value is greater (the text of the function: if ((CPU_USAGE ()<5),"1","0") ):

3.8 Setting the Interviewed Services

The formation of a set of services for monitoring is performed in the "Probes" section of the main menu ( see Figure 3.25). The system includes a preset service set, but the administrator can add its services or edit available.

The system has a fairly flexible survey settings system, which includes:

 • DNS. - generating a DNS query with specified field values;
 • Function. - Using user functions (see section 3.7);
 • Icmp - forming an ICMP query with specified field values, waiting for a response with installed field values;
 • Logic. - logical function;
 • TCP. - formation of a TCP query with specified field values, waiting for a response with installed field values;
 • UDP. - generating a UDP query with specified field values, waiting for a response with installed field values;
 • SNMP. - Specify Specific OID on the SNMP protocol;
 • Random - A random decision on the availability of the service (used when testing).

The system is presetting a processor boot survey cPU.which generates an accident in the event that the surveyed OID failed unsuccessfully, i.e. The device has no answer. This approach performs an inspection of the device's availability, however, in practice it is convenient to form an accident when the value of the processor loading of a particular threshold is reached.

Create a service that will form an accident when loading the processor above 5%, for which we will use the previously created function sPW_cPU () (see section 3.7).

The Dudee is a powerful application designed to scan networks and monitor the operation of connected devices (laptops, computers, routers). The software has a good potential in terms of functionality, which we are in a hurry to tell you in today's new review.

Let's start by tradition with a response to the question of who need a program? - First of all, system administrators (clear why), merchants and businessmen, Internet providers, as well as to those users who want to "be in the topic" of what is happening in network processes (environment) of their device (for example, if a mini office is organized at home).

The Dude for Windows

In the monitoring process, the scanner determines the types and types of detected devices, "draws" a map of the found networks (any complexity), with which in the future it will be easier for you to interact clearly. In addition, you can make your own cards and work with them.

Like in the utility. Its autonomy and automatic scanning mode in these subnets, as well as the fact that in the presence of software problems issues a warning. If you argue about the rest of the software, it can be attributed to them:

 • layout of the network + Type Recognition / Device Stores;
 • support custom icons and backgrounds;
 • work with SNMP, ICMP, DNS and TCP;
 • monitoring channels and others.

Reference: Functions on the basis of Windows 7/8/10, Linux.

Now a few words about the interface Mikrotik The Dude. It is quite laconic, there is a Russian language. The main window contains the main keys, the commands (quite a lot) and tabs - only 6. In fact, having a utility at hand, you can easily track any network changes, "Ping" connection and at the same time test it to reliability. There is a variety of necessary analytical information and specialized graphs. Installing the client to the computer is standard, therefore we will not speak particular about it.

With this utility you will undoubtedly improve the operation of the network environment, you can and control the devices, and manage them. Recently, developers with new forces took up the improvement of their "brainchild", and therefore they please us with updated versions. We hope you appreciate the program as positively, as thousands of users have made around the world.

You can download The Dude for free on our web portal for a direct link (from the official site) - the latest version is available.
