Disabling programs when starting windows 7. How to remove programs from startup (autorun)? We speed up the computer boot. Why Windows boot speed drops

Automatic launch of applications - very useful function in Windows. If you know that a utility should always work, you can add it to the list - and the system will automatically launch it at startup. However, if there are too many applications in this list, computer resources may not be enough. In this case, it will load very slowly or even freeze at startup. This post describes how to disable unnecessary auto-start applications in Windows 7.

Often, messengers (Skype), torrent trackers, cloud service clients (Google Drive), antivirus systems and modules for auto-updating of some programs are included in the autorun list. Users who are addicted to computer games are often added here by clients like Steam or Battle.net.

This service is very convenient. It allows you not to be distracted by running many utilities at the start of the OS. You just need to turn on the computer - and you can immediately open the desired program and start working.

Often, when installing software, add itself to this list on its own. This creates an unnecessary load on resources. personal computer... The system takes longer to load because it wastes time on applications that you probably won't use at all. In this case, you can disable autostart programs.

Program settings

You can disable autostart programs directly from the configuration menu. In every application that assumes autoloading, you can find this option and turn it off. This guide describes how to disable autorun using an example popular messenger Skype (Skype):

The next time you start the operating system this program will no longer be enabled automatically. Most other utilities are disabled in the same way.

system configuration

You can also use an internal utility called System Configuration. With its help, users get the ability to centrally enable and disable automatic download various programs. Before you can disable startup programs in Windows 7, you need to run this utility... To do this, you need to do a few simple steps, as indicated in the instructions.

Configuring autorun (loading programs after the user logs in account) applications on Windows 7 is an actual topic for beginners. Many novice users ask themselves where there are so many programs on the computer, if they have not installed them, and how to uninstall unnecessary applications from startup. This is what today's short review will tell you about.

Before touching on editing the autorun list, let's define this term. Startup is a feature operating system, which allows you to launch any applications immediately after loading your own files without the knowledge of the user, but added by him or other programs to the list of subject automatic start... This Windows function 7 allows you not to worry about running utilities that the user uses all the time (browser, download manager, audio player, file manager).

By the term "autorun setting" we mean deleting (most often), adding, temporarily disabling the launch of programs or postponing for a specified period of time (ten seconds until Windows starts).

How to open the startup list

You can see the list of programs automatically loaded from Windows 7 using several methods, which boil down to visualizing the contents of several registry branches (this will be discussed below). It:

  • registry editor;
  • System Configuration utility;
  • functionality of extraneous programs.

Registry editor

The paths to applications that are loaded with Windows 7 are registered in the registry keys specially designated for this. You can access them through the registry editor. Launch the application (regedit command) and open the following branches system base data.

The first contains a list of programs that run for the active account, and the second applies to all computer users.

By removing or adding REG_SZ keys with program paths, you can easily add or remove the desired object.

More simple way Autorun editing in the active account is the Startup folder located in the Start menu.

system configuration

  • We execute the command "msconfig" in the search line or command interpreter (Win + R) Windows 7.

  • We uncheck the boxes next to the names of applications that need to be excluded from autorun.
    • Click "Apply" and restart your computer to accept the changes.

Restarting Windows 7 right away is optional.

    Third Party Programs

We have considered the means of the "seven", with the help of which the autorun list is configured. Let's move on to third-party utilities that allow you to perform similar actions.

    CCleaner

Best Service Utility computer CCleaner offers not only cleaning the registry from unnecessary keys and the disk from junk files, but also opens the possibility of editing the startup list.

    • We launch the program.
    • Go to the "Service" item, where, in turn, go to the "Startup" tab.

Using the buttons located to the right of the main frame, you can disable and remove items from autorun. Unfortunately, you won't be able to create new records in CCleaner.

Pay attention to the tab bar located at the top. The first, called Windows, contains applications that are loaded after a user logs on to an account. Next, there are records with information about plugins that are activated when the browser is called.

Superfluous programs interfere with the user every time the computer starts. You have to wait and waste time, and sometimes they are simply not needed at all. I will provide instructions on how to disable them. This will significantly reduce the boot time of your computer.

Attention! Some programs may go back to startup when they are turned on ( e.g. utorrent).

To avoid this, you need to check their settings and disable autoload.

You can see all the methods not only in the article, but also in the video. Everything is clearly demonstrated there. However, there are some nuances in the article.

    Disable via Start Menu

There is a special folder that contains files that are launched every time the computer is turned on. Usually, programs are added there themselves during installation if they are configured to do so. There may not be them, but it's still worth checking.

Go to Start >> All Programs >> Startup. And remove the extra ones by right-clicking and delete.

V this example from this folder, only skype is launched for me. Only the main programs in this folder are displayed here. To disable the rest ( they are usually found in the registry) it is better to use other methods.

    Disable autoload in system configurations

In all popular Windows version there is a built-in utility for system management. With it, you can simply disable autoload by unchecking the checkboxes. This is usually enough to solve the problem.

Need to open command line... Go to Start >> Run ( Win + R) and enter msconfig as below image.

Select the "Startup" tab and uncheck unnecessary programs. My program and antivirus are automatically loaded.

After that, you will be prompted to restart your computer. This can be done later. Absolutely everything cannot be removed by the way. Only the most basic ones. If this is not enough for you, then see the following methods.

    Disconnect in Ccleaner

Unlike the methods above, here you can disable auto-loading for applications. Download first free program Ccleaner, install and run. Select the "Service" category and the startup tab. Turn off or uninstall extra programs as shown in the image below. I left only the antivirus.

Disabling makes the startup task inactive, and deleting it completely removes it. However, the programs can still add the task themselves, even after using the delete.

    Disable in registry

Everything is done by hand here. If you don't want to do it with your hands, then go to the next method. There it is much easier to do it.

In the execution line, write regedit and go through the directory:

    1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run

Then a list of tasks for startup will appear. Each line will refer to a separate program. Delete unnecessary ones as in the image below.

Take a closer look at the path:

    1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE — branch for all users.
    2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER — The branch for the user you are on.

If this is not enough, then the next method should help.

    Disconnecting with the autorun utility

The utility allows you to conveniently work with the registry and disable startup in just 1 click. Its capabilities include disabling not only programs, but also various dll libraries, system services, device drivers, and in general everything that is loaded automatically. Download it and. No installation required.

Run autoruns or autoruns64 file depending on your system version and accept license agreement... Other files run it on the execution line.

Now its interface will appear in front of you. Here select the “Everything” tab and just uncheck unnecessary programs. All possible startup objects will be shown here.

Take away only what you know! Disabling important system libraries or services can cause your computer to become unstable.

After that, just close the utility. You don't need to save anything. She herself will correct the values in the registry immediately after adding or removing a check mark. You don't have to do anything manually.

She also highlights lines in different colors:

    1. Yellow - present in startup tasks, but no files were found. They will not be able to start automatically.
    2. Red - files without description and without author. These can be viruses ( but not always so).

Below is information about the file. Weight, location and more. Separate tabs indicate the location of objects. You can tinker and turn off a lot of unnecessary and unnecessary ( for everyone individually). The main thing is to read about what you turn off.

How many startup programs do you have?

Autostart is a very useful thing, especially if it comes about applications that must be open all the time. For example, skype or antivirus. But often there are unnecessary programs sitting there: they only interfere with the work and load the system.

For example, the torrent client uTorrent. Of course, if you are constantly downloading something, then this may not be bad, but in most cases it is not needed. So why unnecessarily load the system and spend Internet traffic ?!

There are several ways to disable autorun. I will tell you about each of them, because often it is not so easy to uproot a program. Let's start with the simplest.

    Method number 1

Disable autorun in the program itself

Often, autoload can be disabled right in the application itself. To do this, open the program, go to its settings and uncheck the box in the right place. I'll show you using uTorrent as an example.

1 . In the upper right part of the window, click the "Settings" button and select the "Program settings" item in the list.

    2. In the window that opens (in the "General" section), uncheck the box opposite the "Run uTorrent with Windows" and "Run minimized", click "Apply" and OK.

As you can see, everything is very simple. But, unfortunately, it does not always work. In some applications, this setting may be deeply hidden or even absent.

    Method number 2

    We clean the folder "Startup"

In general, in Windows, moreover, in any version (XP, 7, 8, 10) there is a special folder where the program shortcuts are located, which are loaded with the system. It is located in Start, in "All Programs" and is called "Startup".

Found a hated application in it - delete it without hesitation. This is done as usual: right click mouse - Delete.

If you do not have this folder, open it through the search. To do this, in Start, type shell: startup in the search bar and open the found folder. Remove unnecessary applications and then in the same way open and clean the shell: common startup folder

In theory, it is, of course, so, but in practice there are only a part of the programs that are in the autostart. And it's not a fact that among them you will find the one you want to get rid of.

    Method number 3

    Editing the system configuration

One of the most reliable ways to remove a program from startup. It almost always works.

1 . Open Start, enter msconfig in the search window and select the found file.

We remove the check marks from unnecessary programs, then click "Apply" and OK.

In addition to the usual software, this list also includes utilities, disabling the download of which is highly discouraged. Therefore, it is worth removing the birds only if you are sure that this is the “same” (unnecessary) program.

Usually, a small window appears after that, where Windows prompts you to reboot the system. This is optional. In any case, the next time you turn on the computer, the changes will take effect.

    Method number 4

    Removing autoloads in CCleaner

CCleaner is such a program that helps the average user to clean the system of all junk (delete garbage, clean the registry, and much more). Including through it, you can configure autorun.

Often this application is already installed on the computer and is located in Start - All Programs - CCleaner folder. But if it is not there, and you would like to keep the system clean and tidy, then you can download and install this utility for free from here.

1 . Launch the program, select the "Tools" item, go to "Startup". The Windows tab should be open here.

Programs that are in autorun mode will be highlighted in a more saturated color and opposite them in the Enabled column will say Yes or Yes.

    2. We click on the program that we want to remove from startup, and click on the "Disable" button in the upper right.

    3. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

    Method number 5

    Disable autostart through the registry

The registry is where all the settings reside Windows systems... You need to work in it carefully, because if you do something "wrong", you can greatly complicate your life.

Particularly talented, for example, manage to completely remove the system from standing, after which the computer simply refuses to work. So if you are not sure of yourself, it is better not to take risks: use the methods I wrote about above.

1 . We open the registry editor. This can be done through the search in "Start" by typing the word regedit there

    2. Open the folders in the following sequence (on the left side): HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Software - Microsoft - Windows - CurrentVersion - Run

    3. C right side there will be commands that launch certain programs. From here they need to be removed.

And check the nearby RunOnce folder. Full path to it: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ RunOnce. Here, too, there can be commands that launch all sorts of applications. We delete them in the same way.

You can also check and, if necessary, clean these two folders:

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ RunOnce

Which programs to remove from autorun, and which ones are better to leave

For maximum fast loading and Windows work it is desirable to free autorun from unnecessary things as much as possible. However, you should not be zealous, because this can lead to serious problems, especially if you touch service applications.

Programs such as iTunes, uTorrent, Mail.ru, Yandex can be safely removed... Usually, they are specially added to startup right during installation and do nothing useful.

But everything that has such words as Intel, Nvidia in its name, Microsoft is better leave... And, of course, do not touch the antivirus - it must work constantly from the moment the computer is turned on until it is turned off.

The situation with messengers is ambiguous. System boot speed certainly suffers, but manual startup takes additional time. And sometimes you can completely forget to start some Skype and end up missing an important call or message. So decide for yourself.

In general, if in doubt, you can type the name of the program into the Yandex or Google search engine and find out what it does. Most likely, it will also be written there whether you can remove it from autorun without consequences or not.

Speed up computer boot or How to remove unnecessary programs from autorun?

Due to the congestion of autorun various applications the computer starts to slow down a little. This is especially noticeable at the moment it is turned on, when all these programs begin to download and check for updates on the Internet. Users are beginning to worry about the question of how to speed up the computer.

Let's first figure out where they come from. It's very simple, you install different programs, some you install yourself, and some are installed without your help. Some programs are added to the startup list, and when the computer is turned on, they start themselves. Sometimes it is convenient and even necessary. It's good when, for example, Skype, antivirus, etc. are automatically launched.

There are programs that start automatically, but you don't need them at all, or you rarely need them. Okay, if only they only started, they also do something all the time, thereby loading the processor and eating RAM... And if there are ten such useless programs, or more? This all greatly affects the speed of turning on the computer and its operation.

To solve this problem, mWe will not download additional software, but will use the standard Microsoft tool - msconfig.exe. Using this utility, we can audit what is really needed at system startup and then disable any application.

To run this utility, select the "Run" command from the "Start" menu (or press the Win + R key combination). In the window that opens, type the msconfig command and press "Enter". A window like this will appear:

It happens that unnecessary programs may still be among the services. Therefore, in the window that we opened above, go to the "Services" tab. Immediately check the box next to "Do not display Microsoft services." And uncheck unnecessary services. To save the result, click "Apply" and "Ok".

Even disabling something on the "Services" and "Startup" tabs, be careful. If you do not know what a service or program is for, then before disabling it, look for its description on the Internet or ask for

A message will appear, you can exit without restarting, or restart your computer.

    Reboot message

If you have disabled a decent amount of programs and services, then after restarting you will see how much faster your computer will turn on and work. I hope that my advice will be useful to you and you will use it, since the effect of it is very good. Good luck!

We use all cores when turning on the computer

In the window that opens, you need to check the box next to "Number of processors" and select from the list how many cores to use when turning on the computer. I advise you to choose the maximum number of cores you have. As you can see, I have a dual-core processor, so only two. You may have more. Click "OK" to save.
