Cell phone alcatel one touch pop c3. Additional Features: Alcatel One Touch Pop C3

Two twin-symbols from ALCATEL with displays diagonals 4- and 4.5 inches, 2-core processors, 4 GB expandable internal memory, a good package, which even includes headphones, and estimated prices of $ 105 and $ 140. How everything is arranged, how it works and how competitive it is against the background of other representatives of the segment, will be discussed below.

Contents of delivery

Both smartphones come in compact cardboard boxes. In addition to the images of the gadgets themselves, they have icons that inform about technical capabilities devices.

The delivery set is identical - micro- cable, adapter charger, user manual and warranty card, as well as very good headphones. They fit fairly well in the ears and are equipped with a microphone.

Design and usability

The POP C3 can rightfully be called the "younger" twin brother of the POP C5 model. Moreover, their similarity does not end only in appearance, but more on that later.

At the heart of the body of smartphones is plastic. The smooth shiny gloss of pink POP C3 looks very impressive and "lively", at the same time the similar material in gray, but matte shade, used in the POP C5 case, looks stylish and strict. But their color palette is not limited to these colors - both models are also available in white and black.

The rounded sides, convenient form factor, small dimensions and rather modest weight, in my opinion, have the best effect on the usability of smartphones. And even though the POP C3 rightly outperforms its older brother both in weight (110 g versus 157 g) and in size (122x64.4x11.95 mm versus 131.5x67.9x11.5 mm), manage the POP C5 with the hand holding it is just as comfortable as C3.

In general, the appearance and build quality of the devices left a positive impression on me personally. Although at first the plastic used seemed to me not as resistant to scratches as I would like. But for all the time of testing and daily transportation without any covers, the gadgets have not lost their presentation.

Assembly is a separate plus sign for the manufacturer. It is of high quality, there are no backlashes, nothing crunches, even taking into account the removable rear panels.

Functional elements

Considering the external similarity of the models, the almost identical arrangement of buttons, ports and connectors on their cases was not at all surprising.

So, on the upper end of both tubes there is a 3.5 mm audio jack and a power button, and on the lower end there is a micro-USB port and a special gap for removing the battery cover.

The battery is hidden under the latter, two slots for SIM-cards of a standard size and one more for a memory card.

The right side face is occupied by the volume rocker.

On the front panel above the screen, the user will find a slot for the earpiece, and below it are three touch-sensitive control buttons "Back", "Home" and "Menu". In the older model, they are backlit, but in the younger model, they are not.

Of the notable differences, I would like to highlight the microphone output, which is located on the front panel of the POP C3, while the POP C5 is located at the bottom end. In addition, their rear sides are notable for the mirrored arrangement of the speakers and eyes of the main cameras, a slightly displaced noise reduction microphone, a modified logo, and the presence of an LED flash in the POP C5.

Against this background, the absence of the manufacturer's logo above the display in the older model turned out to be much less noticeable. By the way, here at the POP C5 there is a peephole of the front-camera, which the POP C3 does not have at all.

Display

The 4 "WVGA (480x800) POP C3 display and the 4.5" FWVGA (480x854) POP C5 display are based on a matrix.

It provides fairly good viewing angles, although with significant deviations a significant extinction of colors is noticeable, for example, black color goes completely into gray.

Contrast and brightness are average. The latter is regulated both manually and automatically. Even its maximum level is sometimes not enough for comfortable work in bright sunlight.

The sensor is sensitive and recognizes up to 2 simultaneous touches.
Pixelation is noticeable to the naked eye, but it does not interfere with everyday use.

The front panels of the gadgets are completely covered by the DragonTrail protective glass - an analogue of the popular one. There is also an oleophobic coating. But unlike POP C3, in the case of POP C5, the effect of the latter is not perceptible - fingerprints appear quickly and it is not at all easy to remove them.

Equipment and performance

Along with a great portrait similarity, POP C3 and POP C5 are also notable for their identical hardware - a 2-core MediaTek MTK 6572 processor with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz, Mali-400 MP graphics and 512 MB random access memory.

This "filling" is enough to run medium-weight games and play video. By the way, according to the benchmark results, both models can be called quite worthy "middle peasants" in the segment of smartphones with similar equipment.

Memory

The tubes have 4 GB of internal memory on board, of which only about 2 GB is left to the user. Today this is not enough even for a state employee. But even those who like to play should not be upset - the available volume can be expanded using memory cards up to 32 GB. By the way, their hot replacement is provided for the older model. But neither POP C3 nor POP C5 support USB-OTG pairing.

Wireless Modules

In the arsenal wireless modules devices: 802.11b / g / nс Wi-Fi technology Direct, with support for a-GPS and 4.0.

Dual-SIM

Smartphones support dual SIM in standby mode. The interface for working with them is standard for most devices on base MediaTek... You can set preferences for use, choose a "SIM" for the Internet and calls.

Battery

The POP C3 has a 1300mAh battery, while the POP C5 has much more capacious battery at 1800 mAh. Overall time autonomous work both models left a pleasant impression. Although the difference between them in numbers turned out to be very significant.

One full charge of the POP C3 lasted for 1 hour of watching HD videos, the same amount for listening to music and surfing the net, plus half an hour for Angry Birds. But the autonomy of the POP C5 was predicted to be higher. After similar manipulations, about 30% remained in stock.

Camera

POP C3 is equipped with one 3.2MP camera, which records video in a maximum resolution of 1024x768 pixels. It has no flash or autofocus. The latter, by the way, is also absent in the POP C5 model, which got two cameras - VGA - front and 5MP main.

The first shoots VGA-video, and the second HD-clips and is complemented by an LED flash.

However, the photo and video content captured by the cameras of both devices turned out to be equally different High Quality... If in natural light the pictures are more or less bearable, then with a lack of it or with artificial light in the room, there is no need to talk about quality at all. Take a look at examples.

Test photos

There is a small set of settings and modes for both photo and video shooting.

Loudspeakers

Each model has two speakers - earpiece and speakerphone... The first showed themselves with better side, providing quite comfortable communication, including while staying in noisy places.

The loudspeaker of both is loud enough. By the way, the younger POP C3 turned out to be slightly more powerful than the POP C5. At the same time, at the maximum sound, both emit slightly "trembling" sounds.

In this case, the headphones are saved, which, as noted earlier, are included in the delivery set. The sound in them is louder and clearer.

Software

POP C3 and POP C5 work under the control of the operating system 4.2.2. with a proprietary shell from Alcatel. The latter is already well known from our previous reviews of the manufacturer's devices, for example, the same or.

Among preinstalled programs I will mark Spritebackup for Reserve copy, collection of programs One touch Live, One Touch Center for synchronizing a smartphone with a PC via USB or Wi-Fi, an application for creating a screen projection on a TV or monitor.

Also available office packages Kingsoft Office and Office Suite, clients of social Facebook networks, LinkedIn, Twitter and +, gaming social network Gameloft LIVE, FM radio Evernote, Antivirus, Shazam, PicSay, music service with a Deezer subscription, Hangouts, WhatsApp, Viber and more. dr.

Some functions of smartphones can be controlled using gestures.

conclusions

ALCATEL POP C3 and POP C5 are worth paying attention to those who are looking for inexpensive smartphone in a convenient form factor, with a good build, support for dual-SIM mode, worthy of its price tag performance and autonomy, as well as good speakers. In this case, it will be necessary to "close our eyes" to such a drawback as the mediocre capabilities of the camera. However, it will be quite easy to do this, given their cost of $ 105 and $ 140, respectively.

pros

High-quality assembly;
- Decent performance for its price tag;
- Android 4.2.2 out of the box;
- Ability to control movements;
- Good speakers;
- Quite good indicators of autonomy.

Minuses

Mediocre camera capabilities.

Estimated price: ALCATEL POP C3 - $ 105, ALCATEL POP C5 - $ 140

Introduction

Alcatel has lines mobile phones: IDOL, POP and HERO. In addition, for example, in POP, there are, let's say, subsections POP S and POP C. The former are relatively expensive devices, and the latter are budgetary ones, but the higher the number at the end, the cooler the gadget. In this case, we will consider POP C9, i.e. device that stands on this moment at the head of the POP subsection Cx.

Design, dimensions, controls

Despite the bright design of Alcatel POP C9 smartphones, in general the devices have a typical "average" design of all phablets: large sizes, rounded shapes, a lot of plastic and chrome-plated edging inserts loved by all manufacturers. The gadget resembles some Samsung, Fly, and Huawei, and practically does not differ from the POP C7.

The dimensions of the POP C9 are 150.95 x 77.5 x 9.5mm, i.e. not at all small and thin. But most of all, the weight is surprising - almost 190 grams. I had on my review a 6-inch metal Explay Diamond monster, it weighed 185 grams. It seems that there is a lead-acid battery inside the C9. Joke. The frames on the right and left are relatively thick - 5 mm each, so it is not as comfortable in the hand as we would like. However, thanks to the sloping edges, the ergonomics of the design are slightly improved.

The front side is covered with glass. It is durable, and only micro-scratches appeared on it during testing. It should be borne in mind that the smartphone "lived" in a backpack with other devices. Inside the substrate is white. The surface of the display is not too easily soiled, apparently, there is an oleophobic coating, the finger glides without problems.

The edging, as I said earlier, is made of chrome-plated plastic, rises slightly above the screen, thereby partially protecting the surface. Back cover non-removable, white, glossy. It seemed slippery to me. Fingerprints remain on it, but are not particularly noticeable.

The company's website states that the POP C9 is available in several colors: pink, red, blue, white, black, gray. However, as always happens with new models, firstly, the smartphone is sold only in two networks. cellular and secondly, there is only a gray device.

The assembled POP C9 is excellent: no creaking, no backlash, the solidity of the case is felt. When squeezed in the hand, the body of the phone does not crunch; when pressing on the rear central area, the cover does not push through to the battery.

Above is the speech speaker. The volume is slightly above average, in noisy places it may be hard to hear, especially in the metro, on the street you have to turn the volume to maximum. The timbre is pleasant, not booming, the interlocutor is heard legibly and clearly. There is no echo. In general, it is quite a good speaker, but the volume would be a little higher.

To the left of the speaker is the front camera, to the right are the light and proximity sensors, they work correctly.

Below - the usual buttons "Back", "Home" and "Menu". There is no backlighting, so the buttons are poorly visible at night.

At the bottom there is a micro-USB and a main microphone, on the top there is a 3.5 mm audio-out for headphones or a headset.

The power button is on the right edge just below the center. It is practically recessed into the body, the pressure is soft, the stroke is small. The volume rocker is of the same type, it is slightly higher. Even higher - a slot for a memory card. It is closed with a plastic plug.

Two slots for SIM cards are located on the left edge under a plastic flap.

MicroSIM connectors, both slots function in 3G, but SIM cards operate according to the following scheme: 3G-SIM1 / 2G-SIM2 or 2G-SIM1 / 3G-SIM2. Switching between 2G / 3G takes about 10 seconds, that is, you won't be able to quickly switch.

On the back side POP C9: a second microphone, a camera that rises a couple of millimeters above the body and is framed by a chrome-plated plastic rim, a flash and a speakerphone.

Display

Manufacturers will not calm down in any way, therefore they use huge screen diagonals in almost every second product. V Alcatel one The Touch POP C9 has a display with a diagonal of 5.5 inches (139 mm). The physical size is 69x121 mm, the frame is 11 mm at the top and 18 mm at the bottom.

The resolution of 540x960 pixels for such a diagonal, it seems to me, is already not enough, although the picture looks good, and pixelation at a distance of 30-40 cm is invisible. The density is 200 pixels per inch.

The brightness of the display matrix backlight is adjusted either manually or automatically. The range is relatively wide, but at the minimum brightness, the glow is still large. The maximum brightness is enough for comfortable reading outdoors, while in the sun the screen is saved only by the 5.5-inch diagonal.

The matrix is made using IPS technology, unfortunately, not OGS: between protective glass and the screen has an air gap. Color reproduction is natural, saturation is calm. The viewing angles are wide, but under certain slopes the color rendition is disturbed: it goes into blue, then into yellowness. In general, this is the typical behavior of inexpensive IPS-matrices.

The capacitive touch layer works out up to 5 simultaneous touches. Sensitivity is good.

Battery

This model uses a 2500 mAh Li-Ion battery. The battery is not removable.

The manufacturer indicates its data on the "life" of the battery, which I believe, since our results came out approximately the same:

  • talk time: up to 8 hours (2G), 4 hours (3G)
  • Standby time: 560 hours (2G), 550 hours (3G)
  • operating time in music player mode: 24 hours

In 720p video playback mode, the device worked for about 5 hours. Average time is about 10-12 hours without active use of 3G.

The device is charged for about 3.5 hours.

In the settings there is an item called "Super Energy Saving". It is very similar to the functions in Htc one M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5. When almost all applications are turned off, the brightness of the matrix backlight decreases, and only the main ones become available to you: SMS, calls, calendar, notebook. In this mode, Alcatel works for about 3 days.

Communication capabilities

The smartphone functions in cellular networks 2G (GSM / GPRS / EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (850/9001800 // 2100 MHz).

In stock Bluetooth version 4.0 for file and voice transfer. There is a wireless connection Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b / g / n. The device, of course, can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot) or a modem.

The device has a GPS. In the "cold" mode, the first satellites are detected in less than one minute, in the "hot" mode - three times faster. The sensitivity is average: in a room it can hardly find a pair of satellites, near a window - up to 4, on the street the device instantly finds more than 8 satellites. I did not observe any problems with GPS, everything works fine.

Memory and memory card

1 GB of RAM is installed inside. On average, a little less than 600 MB of free space. For data storage, 4 GB are allocated, of course, about two are free. There is a slot for a memory card. The maximum size is 32 GB.

Camera

As befits a real "android", the Alcatel C9 has two cameras: the main one is 8 MP, the front one is 1.3 MP (the official website says that it is 2 MP). There is a small LED flash.

The quality of the camera is average, mainly complaints about color rendition and narrow dynamic range. The camera is worth praising for its accurate focus, for the minimum focusing distance - about 7 cm, for the cool background blur thanks to the F2.2 aperture.

The front camera takes photos at 720x1280 pixels. The quality is not bad. Video - 640x480 pixels at 10 fps.

The camera can record FullHD video at 30 frames per second, which is good news. Autofocus is very fast, aiming from 3 cm, the sharpness is decent. The sound is mono, clear.

Performance and software platform

Most similar devices there is a Taiwanese MediaTek chip. Smartphone Alcatel OneTouch The C9 is no exception. It uses the most common among "state employees" in Lately MT6582 chipset: Cortex-A7 processor, 28 nm, 4 cores at 1.3 GHz, Mali-400MP2 graphics accelerator with a clock rate of 400 MHz.

For comfortable operation of the device, this processor is more than enough. There are problems with games, but only with powerful ones such as Asphalt 8. The device does not glitch, does not slow down, it works relatively smoothly.

Phone Parameters Brief and Performance Tests (Quadrant Test, Antutu Test):

The device has an operating room google system Android ancient version 4.2.2. I'm not sure that 4.3 will come out, let alone 4.4. Although I personally don't see any point in them, especially in inexpensive gadgets. The branded shell is essentially absent here. The main screen icon, settings and unlocking of the display have been slightly changed (the “unlock” button “floats” in the circle, which must be shifted to the sides).

Multimedia

The device is equipped with a standard music and video player, radio. The loudspeaker volume is slightly above average, the quality was not pleasant: it wheezes, there are overloads, the sound is not very clear. The sound in the headphones has a high volume, the quality is good, no complaints. The device plays video in FullHD resolution.

Conclusion

Today Alcatel OneTouch POP C9 can be found in two mobile shops at the same cost - 7,990 rubles. It is very difficult to draw conclusions on such inexpensive devices, because nothing interesting can be said about them. All C9 parameters are average: processor, memory, camera, software chips. Appearance also ordinary, besides, the device is only available in gray.
