Do-it-yourself spy tank. Home Robot Spy General Features of the Spy Robot

V recent times you can meet a lot various devices, allowing to conduct research of the terrain through a remotely controlled video camera. You are already familiar with flying quadcopters with a camera on board, which are online (when installed the required module) transmit the image to the operator's laptop, and today we will look at a small traveling spy robot designed to guard premises. The scope of delivery contains a charger station, network adapter, batteries, cords and cables, as well as the robot itself.

This robot moves with the help of 3 wheels, and it can do it in any direction, since special wheels-rollers are used that rotate both around the axis and along the axis. Now such wheels are used in modern warehouses - on electric forklift trucks.

This device is not just a toy, but also a useful thing. A spy robot can be used to remotely monitor a room located anywhere in the world, controlling its movement and performing video, audio and photo shooting via the Internet using wireless wifi communication with the robot. Naturally, the video can be recorded into a video file. The robot is controlled through a computer using a special program.

A home spy robot can drive in all directions, change the height of the camera, turn on the backlight, make sounds, turn on special modes (for example, take a photo when a motion sensor is triggered). The robot is charged automatically or by a command remotely via Wi-Fi, from a special station that projects infrared tags onto the ceiling, using which the robot finds the charging station.

It can patrol your home using predefined routes that you customize with a convenient software based on simple interface... This model uses Northstar technology - a system that creates micro-GPS navigation in your home, allowing a spy robot to know the structure of your home with millimeter precision. Even if a child or pet throws him off course, the robot will immediately understand this and return to the original route. You can ask him the route along which he should patrol and calmly go on business - the robot will monitor your house, periodically driving up to charger to replenish energy. Docking with contacts is automatic. A charge lasts 4 hours, and a fully charged battery lasts for 2 hours. Naturally, in the case of complete immobility (when he sits in ambush), the robot will be able to conduct video surveillance much longer.

More clearly everything is shown in the video.

In general, we got a device that could only be dreamed of 5 years ago. By the way, the price of a home spy robot will not seem too high to you, and the benefits it brings are guaranteed to cover the cost of purchasing it. After using it to protect a warehouse, shop or other institution - you can reduce the cost of wages to security guards!

On January 11, 2012 a new magazine series is released Spy Robot from Eaglemoss (Gee Fabrri).

Magazine

The word "robot" appeared in 1920, it was coined by Josef Czapek. Now robots are present in various spheres of our life, but not so long ago robots were just heroes of science fiction.

Sections of the Spy Robot magazine:
... Currently, there are a huge number of different robots that can work in conditions that are not compatible with human capabilities. There are robots exploring interesting corners of our planet that humans cannot reach. The robots do not need to breathe, so it is easier for them to explore deep-sea depressions and gorges. Whatever the robots do, they always report to the person about their actions and findings.

The world of robots is wonderful world... Robots are increasingly taking place in human life. We don't even notice how and where robots help us. They fly planes and trains, help build cars, guard buildings, and keep people safe. There is no such area in which a person has not tried to create a computer assistant for himself.

This section will tell you about famous robots from movies and science fiction books, as well as entertaining robots. The first entertaining robot was a loyal friend of man - a dog robot Aibo.

From the moment of their appearance to the present day, robots have gone from the simplest mechanisms to complex, efficient devices. We will tell you all about the secrets of these devices and take a look at them from the inside. The development of robots can significantly change the way of life of a person, while not changing him.

This section will help you learn a lot of new and interesting things about robots, how they are used in space exploration, who created them and how. In addition, you will enjoy the Prototype comics.

To all brainworms greetings! Today we create a "spy" homemade- tank based on GoPiGo kit and 3D printed parts.

A robot tank made entirely of kit parts turns out to be clumsy and impassable, so in its craft we will use only electronic components from the kit, and we will print the case on a printer. So let's get started!

Step 1: Components

From the GoPiGo kit:
Raspberry pi B +
Raspberry camera
2 motors
GoPiGo board
WiFi module
SD card in GoPiGo image

Optional:
LED
wires

Step 2: print details

Step 3: cleaning the parts

We clean the printed parts of excess plastic and conduct a test assembly to see how the parts brainwashing fit together.

Step 4: mount the camera

Using screws and hot glue, place the camera in place, while note that the camera is installed upside down. If you decide to optionally install LEDs, then now is the best moment for this, later it will be much more difficult to do it.

Step 5: Assembling the wheelbase

We assemble the wheelbase from the printed parts, for fastening we use a glue gun or any other suitable method, the main thing is that the parts homemade fastened tightly. And yet, the wheels should rotate freely, if they are not, then clean them and achieve rotation without effort.

Step 6: trucks

We connect the tracks into a tape and use ordinary toothpicks for this. This method track hitch is cheap and simple, yet functional.

For the mobility of the tracks relative to each other, the diameter of the holes in their middle parts is smaller brain diameter than the diameter of the holes on the sides. That is, when fastening them with a toothpick, it sits tightly in one track and does not interfere with the mobility of the second.

Step 7: motors

We place the motors on the wheel frames and press lightly so that the shaft enters the wheel, and then we fix the motors in the frames with a little hot glue.

Step 8: assembling the case

Putting the body together, for fastening we use the same glue brain gun... We distribute the glue so that it does not interfere with the subsequent installation of electronic components.

Step 9: reworking the board

So that the board fits into the case homemade it needs to be improved, that is, given a more compact form. To do this, we dismantle some parts from the board (they can be re-soldered if necessary):

Two LEDs
servo contacts
ISP contacts
infrared sensor slot

We also transfer the contacts for connecting the motors from the bottom to the top.

Step 10: Install the electronics

Carefully, without damaging the camera module, we install the electronic components inside the case, you may have to remove one of the sides. Next, we connect brain motors and if they do not rotate correctly, then we change the polarity of the connection.

It's also time to update the GoPiGo software, configure the Wi-Fi module, and of course, try out the camera. You can read about how to update GoPiGo.

Step 11: reworking the case

When electronics homemade placed in the case, we fix it and the not yet fixed parts of the case with hot glue.

Step 12: Tracks

We place the strips of the tracks on the wheelbases and fasten them with toothpicks. The tracks obtained in this way should rotate freely with the wheels, if not, then we eliminate the problems.

Step 13: mechanics complete

Mechanical part brainwashing done, it remains to turn on the electronics crafts... By the way, there is still room in the case for the hidden installation of two 9V batteries, but that is later.

Step 14: programming

To run the program, you need to establish an SSH connection with the Raspberry pi B +. That is, make sure Wi-Fi is on craft enabled and the IP address is recognized.

The IP address can be found directly from the Raspberry Ifconfig command on the terminal or using your router in the address lists. You can also determine the address in the documentation attached to the module or on the manufacturer's website. Just enter the "IP address" name of your module "in the search engine.

After this is done, download PuTTy, click "SSH" and enter the IP address of your Raspberry into "Host Name".

Should be highlighted [email protected]~#

We assign the image of the web server, for this we open the folder:
cd Desktop / GoPiGo / Software / Python / Examples / Browser \ Streaming \ Robot /

Create an executable server file:
sudo chmod + x robot_web_server.py

And start the server:
sudo ./robot_web_server.py

Finally, the raspberrypi.local / image with your URL address on your browser.
If that doesn't work then use your Raspberry's IP address to access.

After all that has been done, you can control the robot- homemade and have a video stream from his camera over any internet connection.

Step 15: optional

We install LEDs in the holes of the case and connect them to the batteries through resistors with a nominal value of 560 ohms. By their brightness, you can judge about the discharge of the batteries.

Step 16: bottom cover

Turn over brainwashing and install the bottom cover, it should click. If necessary, the cover can be easily removed by simply prying it off with a flat screwdriver. If you plan to install more massive and capacious batteries that do not fit inside, then make a hole in the corner for the wires.

Step 17: the spy robot is ready!

Brainwashing assembled and ready for action, let's get down to its entertaining application!

As the main food of this crafts I used two 9V batteries hidden in the case and 8 AA batteries mounted on the case for test runs.

I hope it was interesting and good luck with your work!
